Magnificent location, great food and very friendly staff. Heart and stomach what more could you want?! Highly recommended!

I'm still torn, whether I should really tell here publicly how very nice, clean, quiet, pleasant, friendly and luxuriously delicious,. That's here. Actually, I want this to remain my insider tip, so that we can get space here again. We spontaneously stayed one day/night longer and are guaranteed to come back, as much as the feet hurt from hiking!

We have used the camper pitch of the Waldhotel for 2 days. A very quiet pitch directly at the Waldhotel and of course also directly on the Rennsteig. We also had dinner twice in the hotel. The food was delicious, the prices more than reasonable. We're happy to come back.

A super nice little hotel. We (4 people + A dog) had spacious apartment, very friendly staff. Breakfast and dinner were also delicious. Happy again.

Had a super nice stay. Had booked a bungalow, as unfortunately they were all occupied, we were booked into a holiday home. The accommodation was nice and the staff very nice and courteous. The dinner in the restaurant was delicious, the service totally nice and friendly. Have nothing to do with our stay here.

Chicken breast ordered, but duck leg with inedible red cabbage get. Unfriendly staff. Never again.

The pitch still needs a little finishing touch but otherwise highly recommended also the gastronomy. We like to come back.

Nice, cosy restaurant with terrace in the middle of the Thuringian forest near the Rensteiges. The food was delicious and the waitress friendly. Next to the restaurant there is a bunker museum of the former GDR. A visit with a guided tour is definitely worthwhile!

We have been a regular guest since the end of 2014, and are satisfied. The accommodation, no matter if single room, double room, bungalow or apartment are absolutely livable.
The kitchen is one of the best!

Rooms in the house and outside bungalows with GDR roots. This is not automatically bad if you clean it properly. The bedrooms are small, the living room and the terrace compensate for this. The restaurant is cosy but closes at 9pm.

We were there on Sunday for dinner. The service was very friendly and accommodating. The food was good and the ambiance was good. However, I would have a small improvement approach. As the hotel/restaurant is right off the road, you have to rely on the car. The beer prices are – as unfortunately in some gastronomic facilities – somewhat (even taking into account the quantity) among those of soft drinks. As a driver you should take the latter. Perhaps the prices of soft drinks should be reduced slightly and adjusted to the level of beer prices (also in terms of quantity). Now please do not make the mistake of increasing the beer.
We spent a nice evening there. Thanks for that!

We had ordered 18:15 pm.
At 19:45 o'clock we didn't even have the appetizers.
After repeated inquiries, we were told that the other group would only get their food before we were there.
After asking again if at least the children could get their food, the first meal came at 20:00 pm.
Instead of chicken legs, there was a dry duck club without gravy, with non-salted fries and a tough children's schnitzel.
Then finally came the rest of the food.
Rostbrätel in the oil drowned and burned fried potatoes.
A burnt and dry seasoning meat was available as a starter.
The only thing that came on time was the bill within 2 min, even before the table was completely cleared.
We could not recommend it to anyone, as not even an apology came for the long wait.
Unfortunately, one must forgive a star, otherwise it would not have become.

Very nice accommodation for a few days. Good food, fair prices. Friendliest staff. Here, "Rest" is not a phrase.

Review of the restaurant The restaurant is a force. Great atmosphere, excellent waiters and fantastic food. In addition, the small but fine details that make the restaurant the best that exists in the perimeter: Incoming reaction to extra wishes, stand for ski outside the door, large parking, separate wardrobe, perfectly clean washrooms even in winter and a cuddly, Clean fireplace.
The restaurant can be fully recommended!

We ate there lunch u ware very much to peace. The most beautiful was the fireplace.

Were there because of the Stasi bunker and had to take the time until the next guided save. That's why we ate at the hotel. Ice cream has all tasted, Kloeße with roll were okay, prices also. The service was very nice, no aufgestzte friendliness, location was also nice (the guide in the bunker so Lala, which was located at the ' Fuehrer '). I can't say much to the hotel, but looked nice from the outside and the Gaststaettenbereich…

Dietmar Schumacher Those who want absolute peace and relaxation searches, they will find the Waldhotel am Rennsteig. The staff is very attentive and helpful. Refreshing was the Laughter of Carolyn. The offer in the menu of fish could be expanded. We have the offer of genuine Original Thuringian Bratwurst vermist. Otherwise, we can this Hotel absolutely recommend. We would love to come back.

We also found it nice to be a small Minus is here, but the Bunker and included in calculations, since it is a concept, and its leadership, as already mentioned below, takes some getting used to. The Hotel itself was nothing to criticize, and clearly with others. Greetings to the Team.

Price/performance is very good. Quiet location at the Rennsteig.

Very nice staff, attentive and always around the guests endeavored in any case, for a holiday no matter whether it is summer or Winter, to recommend. Clean rooms (now nice and warm) and the personnel are well reinigungsmäßig care. As we have already once the Bunker had visited we took the time this time for other attractions.

Times when one needs some peace, one is here exactly correct.

Very nice staff, very tasty food, an operation (Karolyn) with a rousing laugh. The Bunkerführung (Marko) was something compulsive and unausführlich, still interesting. All in all, worth a visit and highly recommended.
