Speaking only about the restaurant. I visited Sengelmanshof restaurant a few years ago and it was not a bad experience as I recall, apart from a rather surly waiter. Last week I tried again, and it was a real disappointment! The restaurant itself I can only describe as ‘dowdy’ and more reminiscent of the ‘60’s! Dark, gloomy and large swathes of dreary cream paint and uninviting looking tables, with grey runners! I’m sure it was basically clean, but uninviting! However, you don’t eat the furnishings! The waiter seemed amiable, if not enthusiastic, however once the order was taken, in an almost empty restaurant, the service stopped abruptly! The food served, matched the decor! Not bad, but certainly not good and certainly not inventive and having the air of being assembled rather than lovingly presented. The second glass of wine only came after a prompt 10 minutes after, when the main course had almost been finished. The meal completed nobody came to enquire about dessert/ coffee, and when the staff (5 of them! ) could finally be dragged from their obviously intense personal conversation we paid our bill and left thinking: sad, but that it was not atypical for German service! Will not be going again! ‘

Very good dining centre with a wide variety of beautiful rooms. Delicious and versatile food. Good locality for round birthdays, wedding party, wedding days (all nicely participated).

We were at the Easter break in the Sengelmannshof. Ambiance was very nice, that food in abundant selection very tasty and a very large proportion of homemade components. We can only recommend the Sengelmannshof to anyone!

We got there at 20.01 a Celebration for about 50 people. All arrangements beforehand were very informative and we were very well advised. Our wishes and ideas were taken into account and problems were solved by the Team in a very innovative way. Short-term appointment for follow-up questions were possible at any time, and we were always treated in a friendly and courteous. It was a great Celebration and a very nice Brunch the next morning. The kitchen I can praise only. Each dish we had tasted great. At this point, again a thank you to the Team from the Sengelmannshof.

The restaurant is raised. Price performance top, but slightly more expensive. The hotel is good, rooms are quiet, breakfast was delicious. All in all, like to be back.

Cordial hosts and best food in a cosy atmosphere. A visit to the Sengelmannshof is always a pleasure.

With luck we got a table for 2 people.
The food was delicious and the plate beautifully arranged. The operation was very friendly and courteous.
All in all, a nice evening and we will be happy to come back.

Were to eat Martinsgans there and had already looked forward to it. For 25, 50 euros per person we expected a wonderfully prepared goose leg.
What we received then scoffs at any description of good cuisine. The goose was absolutely dry and therefore already very tough. In some places you could already see the drying that the goose was in the oven for a long time. Probably warmed for the second time.
Too bad for the money, never again.

Idyllic hotel in a quiet area but with good local transportation connections to Düsseldorf airport and Essen. The hotel has a good restaurant, bar and a 9-pin bowling alley. The rooms and the breakfast are quite basic, but serve their purpose. Overall I think you get really good value for your money when staying in this hotel.

The place is nice, but the owner has a dog and that it is always around the tables of the restaurant and mixing food and animals doesnt seem much clean.

Good hotel, nice breakfast. Only the Wi-Fi is very slow in the rooms, in the lobby is it ok.

Valentine Menu, what a disapointment. If they continue with this type of presentation with the emphasis on maximum profit then the restaurant will be empty. From the starter to the dessert the whole experience was indescribably disapointing. I doubt if any of the courses were freshly prepaired. The wine, well lack of it, sitting with empty glasses is poor service. My wife and daughter inlaw managed one glass of white and one of red. Obviously the service staff being told not to be generous. I have been to this restaurant on several occasions and have enjoyed the experience.

On weekends and holidays better book.
