Mixed experience. We wanted to go to the Meurice at 4 for my birthday to enjoy the pastries of Cédric Grolet. When I phoned the restaurant to book a Wednesday for a Saturday, the hostess told me that everything was complete. My friend tried to book on the Internet and there, as by chance, it worked (maybe because he had clarified that it was for my birthday and that we liked the pastries of Cédric Grolet) and we were confirmed a table of 4. On Saturday our friends arrive and at the reception they are told that in fact, the reservation is for 2 people, instead of 4 and they had to explain that we needed a table of 4. In the restaurant itself, in the afternoon there was not much world, so this very poor management of reservations remained for us a great enigma. We were in a bad position right behind the front door.
Our disappointment of the service has only continued. We wanted to be forced to buy a brunch at 50 euros "obligatory", while we came only for tea and pastries and this kind of information is not mentioned on the site. It had to be negotiated again, as the pastry alone costs about 20 euros, plus about 15 euros a drink.
This unpleasant moment was finally over and we were able to taste our pastries which I can only say good and which confirm the great talent of Cédric Grolet. During the tea time there was a pastry chef who passed through the room to make the guests discover the delicious Bundt and madeleines (offered by the establishment). The service was also cared for and attentive.
The room was beautiful, a mixture of classic and contemporary. Except the large ceiling covering of the canopy that makes circus marquee …
In short, contradictory, incompatible and incomprehensible things for a palace. And a feeling of being neglected on a birthday occasion.
