Review of Hotel Duminy-Vendome 4*

This Hotel is a disaster. The location is lovely (Albeit on an unlit and very dark street) and the staff is courteous. That is the only positive to be said. Our room was on the second floor which smelled terribly rank. After asking the staff why the air conditioning didn’t work they told us to just open the window. That’s unfortunate when the curtains won’t close with the windows open… especially when it’s pouring rain and mosquitoes fly into the room. Forget about any privacy in this situation as you are facing another hotel. Also forget about sleep as tractor trailers and dumpster trucks are on the street from around 2:30 am until 5 am. This includes construction loading and unloading on the near property and the shouting of all of the workers. We asked to be moved twice but they could not accommodate us. No surprise since each time we went to the front desk there were other guests with the same complaints. In fact, each time we walked through the lobby there was someone lodging a complaint. The elevator fits two people (without luggage) and just try to take the stairs… they are generally blocked by a service cart. Please be kind to yourself and NEVER stay at this disaster of a hotel. I felt as if it was 25 years back in time when I was Eurorailing. It was fine then but not now at $400 a night. Absolutely avoid this hotel, The manager (Gaelle) refused to give us any consideration. A fellow (unknown to us) guest from the first floor was equally exhausted and disappointed as she was trying to head off for business.
