This is a decent country house hotel saved from mediocrity by excellent mattresses, quiet rooms, and good linens. We were on the second (UK first) floor in a spacious room with a view of the chateau and river. The evening staff was nice, the morning staff grumpy and put-upon. The most frustrating thing was housekeeping entering room despite our do-not-disturb sign on the pretense of offering turn-down, which we clearly didn’t want. We were also sent to a dishonest, tourist-scamming restaurant in the high street called Le Reserve—which could have been avoided had we (or they) had sense enough to read the previous TA reviews. Utter liars and, even worse, given this is France, shameful cooks. Lesson learned. So far as the room, the bathroom was adequate, with a steep step down from the narrow tub, only one hook for hanging damp towels, and an overall worn look. Our room was spacious if a bit tired, but in a cozy way. The air conditioning was sufficient. The Wi-Fi was undependable. We did not opt for breakfast after our request for coffee seemed to send them into a tizzy of inconvenience. We were comfortable at this hotel, but we were not sad to leave. In general, Amboise is to be avoided, as there are many lovely hotels in towns less tourist-driven.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Le Manoir Les Minimes! The hotel and grounds are simply beautiful, parking made it very easy, and the town is within walking distance. The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful in helping us choose restaurants in the area. We enjoyed a lovely glass of wine in the lounge. The room was very comfortable. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Amboise!

Great staff. Great location for exploring the Loire valley. Right in town easy walking to everything, convenient gated parking. Clean room comfortable bed. What else can I say.

Le Manoir is a beautiful building and a very comfortable hotel. The staff were helpful and chatty, the room was clean with an excellent shower room, and the hotel is so close to the centre of town it makes it very easy to walk into Amboise. Can recommend Bigot for a superb afternoon tea and patisserie, and there are many restaurants to choose from for dinner. Breakfast at the hotel was quite expensive, but there was plenty to choose from. Can also recommend trying the local Vouvray wine on offer at the hotel — sitting on the terrace in the sun.

Overlooking the entire Royal and castle, the enthusiastic housekeeper, delicious breakfast, five minutes to walk downtown, is a high CP value accommodation!

We highly recommend Le Manoir Les Minimes. Our room is very comfortable, with a great view on the Château d'Amboise and the Loire river. What other reviewers have said about the customer service is 100% true. Our luggage is lost at JFK, and Gilles has called our airline each day trying to help us recover it. Today, he brought his wife's coat from home to lend to my fiancée, as hers is packed in her lost luggage. And of course, Gilles has had good redommendations for places to eat and things to see. Tonight, he arranged our reservation at Chez Bruno, and the food was excellent. You're amazing Gilles, thank you for everything! Amboise is a great base from which to explore the châteaux of the Loire east of Tours, and Le Manoir Les Minimes is the place to stay!

Not suitable for people in need of great comfort. Second floor room without elevator. Shower and not bathtub. But especially no restaurant, not even mini-catering. Very painful during a cold and rainy winter. More suitable for a tourist weekend than for a longer stay. Very courteous nonetheless and cosy.

We absolutely loved our time at Le Manoir Les Minimes. Beautiful home, comfortable bedrooms with great views of the river and the castle, and perfect location. The breakfast was just what we wanted and worth the cost. But this trip was extra special because of the wonderful staff—warm, friendly, helpful. And lots of fun.

Fabulous hotel in a beautiful location. The rooms were stellar and were perfect for the amount of people it, well maintained and with brand new furniture. The service was outstanding, very informative and attentive.

Professional and courtesy staff. Excellent breakfast on site. Clean and comfortable rooms. Some have a great view of the Chateau and river. Wi-Fi is modest. Bed is comfortable but slightly harder then I would prefer. Parking is on property and is locked at night.

Great experience at Le Manior les Minimes. The building and room themselves were great. The breakfast was also good. But the staff made my stay even better than expected. They were so nice and helpful. For example, I needed help getting a SIM card for my cell phone. They not only found the closest place to get one — but they showed me where to park when I went there. It's the little details like that making the difference in my great experience with this hotel.

An absolutely wonderful experience, highly recommend. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The property is beautiful and well kept, combining classic old world charm with modern luxuries. The views of the river and the Chateau d'Amboise can't be beat! We only spent one night there, but hope to spend more time the next time that we travel to the Loire Valley.

Staff welcoming and helpful. Room excellent. Location and parking very convenient. Breakfast was terrific. Even the mini-bar was reasonably priced! We sat out on the patio in the evening for a glass of wine. The view was a fairy tale castle about 300 yards away. Best hotel stay in 10 years.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our return visit to Le Manoir Les Minimes after 15 years. The service, décor and environs are superb and we could tell that the owners have continued to invest in the property (our bed and linens were top quality). Amboise should always be on a Loire Valley itinerary as should a stay at this lovely estate. We certainly intend to be back and hopefully, will not wait another 15 years! The Hotel Le Manoir Les Minimes was everything we hoped it would be during our wonderful trip to the Loir Valley. Our suite was bigger than many apartments in Boston and the décor was wonderfully French. The staff was excellent and incredibly patient with our last minute requests for dinner reservations. I would absolutely recommend Le Manoir Les Minimes to anyone visiting the Amboise.

Lovely experience, the hotel is very charming, located in a mansion elegantly furnished, the room had all comforts, the setting is superb, just on the side of the Amboise Castle.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Hotel Le Manoir Les Minimes. Not only was the staff super helpful and professional, but our room was quiet, clean and very modern. Also, the location is fantastic — only a 5 minute walk from the center of town. We came by car, so it was great to know we have parking at all hours of the day. It made the stay that much more comfortable. I would definitely stay there again and I highly recommend you do so too.

Manoir Les Minimes was the perfect place to stay while visiting the Loire Valley. Its location is excellent. The rooms are very nice and the breakfast in the morning is very good. It was also nice to have a convenient place to park our car while we were there. I would definitely stay at Le Manoir again while visiting the Loire Valley.

Our hotel room was pristine, spacious, and clean. The hotel and grounds looked so well manicured that it looks like a mini chateau. The staff are extremely service oriented. We missed the taxi pick up that was scheduled by the hotel because our TGV train was 1 hour late, delaying our arrival by a total of 3 hours. I felt horrible that the taxi driver booked for us was sent to the train station for no reason, but Gilles would not take any of my guilty sentiments. His ultimate concern was only for our well-being as we had walked the 15 minutes to the hotel (we had no phone or e-mail access to contact the hotel for a taxi). There were lots of handy mirrors and outlets and the bath gloves were a nice surprise amenity. The only minor complaint that I have is the door to our room in the cottage was a little difficult to lock, even after Gilles had explained it, but by our last day, we kind of got the hang of it. Not really enough to take off 1 star. Great location, only 5 minutes from the center of town! Thank you Le Manoir Les Minimes!

A beautiful and elegant House. The welcome is warm, and makes all staff to help you and put you at ease. Our room was big, nice and comfortable, with a large bathroom with a huge bathtub and a large amount of toiletries elegant. In our room there was an impressive view of the Castle. A 5-minute walk brings you city and a quantity of restaurants, confectioneries and chocolate shops. Breakfast is served in a charming and elegant room.

Very nice room in a beautiful, restored building with super views of the chateau and the Loire river. The hotel and our room were very clean, well appointed, and large. The bed was on the stiff side, which is not to my particular liking. The location was excellent within a short walk into town. The staff was helpful with great dinner recommendations. The buffet breakfast had good variety and was served in an elegant room on the ground floor of the hotel. We very much enjoyed our stay and would stay here again if the opportunity presents itself.

Le Manoir Les Minimes exceeded our expectations in every area. The hotel is beautiful and extremely well maintained. The gentlemen running the hotel are charming, knowledgeable and efficient. Breakfast is delightful. The location in Amboise is excellent, both for visiting Chateaux in the Loire Valley and for walking to town for a meal. Excellent value, a real find.

Le Manoir Les Minimes was quaint perfection! My husband and I spent a couple nights of our honeymoon here and we couldn't have asked for a better location, better service, or nicer accommodations. We highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel Le Manoir Les Minimes was the perfect choice for my husband and I while on our honeymoon in the Loire Valley. The hotel is steps away from the castle of Amboise and the center of the town. The hotel is small, very elegant, and gave us the perfect local feel of the Loire Valley. We stayed in one of the smaller, standard queen size rooms. The room was spacious, clean, and the bathroom was very large for European standards. The staff was very helpful in recommending restaurants nearby. I would love the opportunity to stay at this wonderful hotel again.

Fantastic hotel. Only stayed one night but would go again. Views of the Loire from the room. Beautifully furnished with fabric lined walls immaculate flooring. Best coffee too. Check for online offers as the walk-in price was 20 euros more.
