Absolutely stunning! We stayed in the Chateau de la Tour (Tower Room) and it was perfection. The views from the room are breathtaking, the room is just beautiful — down to the finer details, it’s very elegantly designed.
We did a wine tasting which was brilliant — Valérie was a fantastic host and the love and passion for good wine is infectious!
About 20 minute walk into town for dinner (Cuisine & Dependance was fab! ) Breakfast was delicious (great scrambled eggs! )
Photos or words don’t even do Chateau de la Grave justice, we couldn’t fault it — unbelievable from start to finish, couldn’t recommend it more!
We stayed in the tower room, lovely and spacious, bathroom was very nice. The view Over the vineyard Is beautiful, we stayed in September and the vineyard was in full harvest mode, as was every other vineyard.
Breakfast was very good and served between 8am and 10am, continental style with cooked eggs on request.
There isn’t an option of other meals but the town of Bourg is 1.5 miles away with a selection of eateries. You can get a bottle of the wine For the room With glasses, very nice to sit by the pool and sample It, right next to the field It was grown in.
Blaye is around 10 miles away and takes 20 minutes to drive there, it’s worth a visit as the Citadel is a major attraction, the town has lots of cafés and restaurant’s, very picturesque and bit More to do than Bourg.
Citi du vin in Bordeaux city is worth a visit, you will need a good 3 or 4 hours to do it justice, Saint Emillion is around 40 minute drive away.
Overall we really enjoyed our 4 nights at Chateau de la Grave, would recommend it as somewhere to base yourself for a visit to Bordeaux.
