Northern Lights Village Saariselkä Resort

Amazing facility design. Although I didn't see the Northern Lights from the site (due to bad weather) the facilities are perfect and can suit my tour to Lapland and the Arctic Circle. The wooden interior gives the aurora cabins a great Nordic sensation. There was simple but robust food (like spaghetti and meatballs) that suit the customers, good friendly reception that welcomes even passers-by fully. The reindeer ride and the Arctic snow cat ride was awesome. Near city centre but made me mistakenly think that the chimney smoke was the northern lights XD.

We spend 4 Magical nights at NLV. However, a booking error from the hotel almost canceled our highlight activity, the Huskies. The hotel fixed the error after a lot of stress. As well, the activities are very touristic. Snowshoe, Reindeer and Husky is more like a ride in a Disney park. You go on, ride for a few minutes and go off. From a 4 hours Husky safari, 40 minutes was with the dogs and the rest was socializing with other gest. I was expecting more interactivity with the animals. Aurora hunting is a joke as well. You go to a tend, spend 30 minute there. If you are lucky than you may see the Aurora. If not, you go back. Total time spend 1 hour. But the chalet, comfort, food and guides are 100%. A light sensor to turn off the light in empty villas would be a good idea, once people left their villas with light on, what obviously disturbs other people looking for a dark environment to see the auroras.

Our stay at NLV was great. The cabins were so unique and clean. The staff and guides were fantastic. Margarita was an outstanding waitress and bartender. We really enjoyed our meal at the ice restaurant and she made it so special for my sons birthday. We did a husky safari, reindeer day and two northern lights hunting trips. The snowmobile/heated sleigh one was great even though we didn't see the NL. My only disappointment was the food. Overall, it was a bit bland and there were very few options especially for kids. On Day 2, the staff offered to make my kids chicken nuggets and French fries so that was great. Perhaps a pasta bar or even some white rice and some plain bread and peanut butter could be a great addition.

Spent a lovely few days here. It's only their second season and some things weren't running as advertised (sauna was still under construction). But the staff were friendly and the guides we're awesome! January is a great time to be here between peak seasons.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3day break here in january. This complex is set on the edge of a snow filled wilderness but first impressions were not great. It has the feel of a junk yard when you pull in, with random bits of equipment, plant, machinery and vehicles scattered around. Cabins are excellent, big windows for aurora watching, warm and spacious for two, sofa, wet room and mini bar. Buffet dinner and breakfast was good in the relaxed and communal lounge/bar/reception lodge. Activities are expensive (available for slightly less in Saaraselka), we wouldnt book them in advance in future, instead would wait until we knew the conditions on the day before (however maybe not possible at busy times). Winter clothing, snow suits, boots, mittens etc are all supplied free, and work well in the constant sub zero temperatures. You can get fitted out on arrival or at the beginning of your activity. Couldnt see the point of the ice bar and restaurant. 20 euro entry including one drink to stand/sit in a freezing and empty expensive bar. The town is a 10-15 minute walk, with a number of cafes, restaurants, shops, activities organisers, a well stocked supermarket and reasonably priced alcoholic drinks store (supermarket sells beer only)

The people friendly and the services great. Recommended.

Stopped here to have lunch during two activities from another local hotel. Delicious salmon soup both days. Was warming and filling with tea and coffee too.

Amazing customer service and care. We arrived from an exhausting trip from London that turned from an easy 7h to 17h, with nothing but the clothes on our back at 2am to a warm fire, hot dinner, a delicious birthday cake for our son, and best of all helpful/caring staff. Throughout our stay the staff tirelessly assisted in trying to locate/recover our luggage (no thanks to Finnair) and we were very lucky this hotel had all the needed snow gear (free of charge to use throughout the stay) so we could still enjoy the activities. Amazing new Ice Bar, great food, cozy clean rooms, etc… would recommend this hotel to anyone. Looking forward going back there again soon.

This was one of the best experiences in my life! The hotel is incredible, the cabins are gorgeous and spacey. They have their own private bathroom with hot water which is not common even in comparable hotels. The service and it’s people are amazing. We took the 3 day plan and each of the tours we got were amazing. The guides are incredibly friendly and their tours are really personalized. The food in the hotel is also great and with good variety. This is the best hotel in Lapland! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to live the best vacations of their lives. It’s worth every penny!

Love this place friendly staff. Most speak English.
