Excellent hotel the bad thing about that place is the dirty dishes in the Hallway of the rooms but I also loved the kindness of Miss Olga Lidia with eyes 👀 beautiful brown very good nice girl mediated a very good service Everything clean in my room for and the pool clean water and soft music.

We are here for a wedding. Check in was pretty easy. Love the free champagne and cold total we got. Especially on a hot day after a long plane ride. The bell boy was very nice and helpful bringing everything to our room and discussing what is included and not with us: hodelpa bottled water and nespresso coffee. Because we have a baby kinda wish there was a hot water maker so we can make his formula but it's okay. It would be helpful to have a few signs in English for things : included, not included, etc etc. We were a bit confused until the second day. The room also needs some form of milk option for the coffee as there was none The floors are fairly clean but it does need a deep deep cleaning for the crevices. With the baby we wiped everything down and it was barely dirty Breakfast Buffet was delicious and plenty of options to choose from. And it is included Wish there was a way to control the air conditioning as it is very cold at night and not enough blankets. The staff is extremely friendly. Wished there were more who were bilingual but this is Dominican Republic. Bathroom wished there were more hangers to put towels to dry. But I did find the drying hook on the second day.

Great location and nice rooms. However, considering the price, I expected a faster check-in and better Wi-Fi. Only had dinner once and it was just ok.

When we hired this hotel through Takeoff, they put the information misleadingly (the hotel blames taking off and taking off the hotel). We understood that the price included breakfast and then it was correct compared to others we evaluated. But breakfast was not included and its value per person per day was 25 dollars! I have traveled all over the world and I did not see in any hotel of the same characteristics such an expensive breakfast, none exceeds 10 dollars. We worked it out by going to half a block's breakfast at a Dennys for $5 a person. A pity they are abused that way as the hotel is nice, the rooms spacious and clean and well located. It seems to me to be distasteful and unnecessary to be abused with an excessive charge for breakfast.

If you are not scared of air conditioning, bad quality drinks (don't accept the so called "champagne" they offer you on your arrival), bad quality Wi-Fi (Yes their Wi-Fi is full of security breaches) and the horrible sticky groom called Daniel then this resort is the ideal place to relax by the commercial district of the town. Don't be scared of the crowds in the hotel I suggest you book weeks in advance because of the high demands …

Friendly, great breakfasts. The pool is nice but you gotta get used to the noise of the cement factory and main road. Very ballardian. Trouble is it’s almost too cosy and outside becomes a different world also find a good taxi dude and stick with them! Give it a year and this area will be like a resort.

Hotel in the center of the colonial zone. Very good and recommended for people who want to sightsee in the old town of the colonial zone of the Dominican Republic.

I have come several times, and in this last stay I have been greatly disappointed.
I ordered a piña colada in the pool, something I do whenever I can, and I was served in a glass of plastic condensed milk with pineapple and coconut juice and some rum… shameful.
We were just 6 people in the pool and to bring two beers and 2 Piña Coladas have taken 40 minutes!
The towels in the room smell bad, the room phone does not work, there is a literary tertulia with microphones at such a loud volume that you cannot rest in the room…
This in a hotel of this category, come on, to never repeat again!

I think they are living off the rents when the hotel belonged to the Sofitel… I have stayed at this hotel quite a few times and, since Hodelpa took over, it shows they have dropped a lot of the quality. The most uncomfortable and used bed in the world (when you lie down you can see the springs in the back) I found it here in room 4048. I am a person who goes from the order of 50 Nights/year in hotels for quite some time and this bed in a hotel of these characteristics is not acceptable, more things… The coffee machine in the room did not work and it would stop constantly, you can not make a simple CAF É… but besides that they do not repose neither milk nor spoon/remover to be able to dilute the coffee and the sugar in the room, the glass glasses in my room were dirty and full of finger marks, the shampoo was clearly from the previous guest as he did not give or wash me a V EZ Head and I have short hair… I hope this will serve as a tug of ears and to solve problems because I say… This is not acceptable in a hotel that pretends to give good service to the guest. The truth is that today I leave very disappointed in the hotel.

Fantastic location, well maintained rooms, atmospheric furnishings. Free Wi-Fi. Bathroom not quite perfect. Staff speaks only partially English. Nevertheless completely satisfied, a dream hotel.

Beautiful colonial building very well preserved, with many corners with incredible charm and beautiful patios. Very careful decoration that transports you to another era. Rather austere rooms but with what it takes to be comfortable. Washbasin with bathtub and also with shower. Small but nice pool to sunbathe. Very small gym with 1 bike, 1 elliptical, 1 tape, a small weight area and a multiexercise machine. The pace is not the European, you have to change the chip, but the staff is very friendly and friendly.

Excellent hotel in a unique location to the former residence of the first governor of Hispaniola. A place full of history, its walls are the history of colonization. In front of the Port pier (something uncomfortable if there is boat carrying by the noise) but it has a nice swimming pool and gym.
The menu of the terrace is simple but affordable.
The breakfast to be of hotel is something expensive about 25 U $.

The attention of public relations Yeimi Sosa was excellent. He was advising me on where to eat on a beach tour with my family and provided me with all the possible details.
Thanks to her we were able to spend an unforgettable day.

They said 157 US x night double room plus taxes.
P is 175 us.
The next day they said Q was not included the companion's breakfast. That's 20 more of us to add.

Hotel in the old Colonial palace. In the middle of the colonial zone. Full of lovely corners. Very quiet rooms, although it is true that not super modern. Excellent breakfast. Wi-Fi slow.

Beautiful historic hotel but not well taken care of, unfortunately. Avoid rooms around the Bartolomé de las Casas courtyard, terribly noisy and smoke will get into your room, since they use the courtyard for all sorts of parties. Some rooms had leaks in the ceiling. All employees were super nice but they have not been very well trained. On the day I arrived, one guy at the check in counter was apparently new and had to ask others about the process of checking in guests. The others were very mean to him and would not even reply to him. I felt sorry for the guy and upset at the cruelty of his co-workers. Upsetting to witness this. Finally, my room had a nice balcony but the view outside was of a garbage pile. The Ozama river also had garbage floating in it. Very sad.

It's a wonderful hotel! Polite and friendly staff, delicious food, great cozy rooms. I really hope that we will visit your hotel again).

Being Dominican is really awesome! Finally learning more about the culture I'm apart of. And my first experience was the Hodelpa Nicolás de Ovando! Every part of my of this hotel was awesome. If you are in the (DR) you might as well stay here.

Beautiful, beautiful historical building just recently renovated and surrounded by plenty of pubs bars and restaurants. Friendly enough staff. Bar & restaurant service is painfully slow. Breakfast is good not excellent but it is in the interior patio and this makes up for everything. Where this hotel looses heavily is in the rooms, they are surprisingly old (taking into account how they have redone the whole place up). There are seriously only 2 plugs near and around the bed and they are not very user friendly. Also depending on your room you may find that you have a Wi-Fi signal so weak that is obsolutely worthless even for simple things as sending emails.

Loved the guitarist! The drinks were perfect! Relaxed atmosphere!

They robbed me in the hotel. They refise to show me the footage because they knew my time there was limited. They brushed me off with an excuse everyday. My bag didnt make it to the room. There was over 5thousanth in merchandise and money in the bag. When I asked for the luggage boy he coincidentally gone to vacation the next day. Now am suing the hotel. I have had to hire an attorney. Instead of nicolas ovando staff speaking to me they bloqued me on social media.

I arrived at Hostal Ovando July 25, 2015 at around 7:00 am, I had previously contacted the hotel to let them know of my early arrival I was made aware of a $20 early arrival fee, to my surprise upon arrival I was told I needed to pay $80 per person for arriving too early after a few word I agreed (I was on a overnight flight that was delayed 2 hours). I walked into my room and immediately went to sleep. I woke up around 3:00pm, as am fixing my luggage and become aware one of my carry on bag was missing. I immediately called downstairs and told them one of my bags were missing and am certain I had it upon arrival because I pulled my reservation papers from it. They told me the luggage boy at the time was not in that they would call him to find out, a few hours later I called downstairs again and they told me they couldn't reach him. I explained I had my phone in that bag, my camera, a envelope with money and clothes there was over $7, 000 dollars in value for them to call the hotel manager and for them to resolve this issue. They told me they had contacted him that he will be there the next day. The next morning I went downstairs where this man claiming to be head of security told me that the luggage boy had left for vacation and they couldn't reach him but that he was warranty me that he would recover my belongings not no worry that he had called the techs to obtain video of the incident.

My husband was hospitalized with meningitis last week. When we knew he was going to live, I started to shift my focus to canceling the upcoming Dominican Republic trip we had planned. We have been greeted with understanding and flexibility with every service involved except this hotel. We got a priceline deal and I understand it isn't usual policy to refund. I completely understand why for the sake of their business. However, a death or someone with a contagious illness that is in danger of dying should be at least considered as acceptations. We only asked for a credit or some sort of future discount we could use to apply at least a little of the money we are losing to a future trip that I would love to reschedule once he recovers. The manager, Jerome, wouldn't even look at the medical documents and took less than a blink to disregard us. Even a moment to think about it would have meant a lot to me. This place is inflexible and will leave you in a lurch if anything serious happens to you on your trip or in your life. Don't stay here or if you don't have travel insurance and pick a different place if you are using priceline. I'm told that others in the area are more understanding. To their credit, Priceline tried very hard to work with us and apologized extensively for the hotels behavior.

One of the best hotels in the Colonial Zone. Great service and attendance. Rooms are clean, cool and beautifully decorated. Highly recommend for others wanting to stay in the area.

Probably the best Hotel in Santa Domino. With the other Accor hotel, Hotel Frances I made a very bad experience. If you can avoid it.

The hotel has an old world beauty with contemporary comforts and amenities. There were a few discrepancies, but they were professionally and quickly resolved. The gym is crap. So far the staff has made my stay a comfortable one. They are courteous, demonstrated concern for my issues, very helpful and speak English. However, there was a glitch with the internet Wi-Fi service in the room the last two nights which is a major inconvenience for me. I will edit this post upon my departure once it is determined how the hotel will mitigate the situation.
