If you are going to stay here, probably is because you arrived in Aalborg for your studies and you haven't found any convenient accommodation yet. I have to tell you, that if you are at the beginning of the academic year, it is very hard to find a proper place to live. Anyway, the conditions at Danhostel are very harsh. I lived there for about 2 and a half months until I found a proper place to live. I stayed in a small cabin which I shared the first month and a half with 5 other guys. It was horrible as they were not clean at all, but I requested to be moved in another cabin which worked fine for a while. The kitchen and the bathroom are shared with all the other people who are living in the cabins. The staff is only cleaning them once a week, so they were absolutely disgusting, especially towards the end of my staying there when they stopped cleaning them completely. The hostel is equipped with a common room with tables and Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi didn't worked at all, impossible to open even the facebook page. The common room is also closing around 11PM which is not very nice when you have a lot to study. I was not allowed to eat in the common room, which was horrible during rainy weather. Because of common sense, I couldn't eat in the cabin neither (you just can't bring food in a 2x5 cabin where 5 other people are living, because of the smell), but my roommates did it anyway which contributed to the horrible smell in the cabin. There were also very cold nights when they didn't turned on the heat, the management's explanation being that the heating system is controlled by a temperature sensor… Therefore, I shivered in cold 5 or 6 nights, maybe more. It is simply unbelievable for me, that you can't turn on the heat by yourself when you are cold, it is just like there is a standard limit for whoever would stay in those cabins to start getting cold (the heater has a switch, but if it is "worm" outside, it doesn't receive any power). In the end when people were starting to leave Danhostel (maybe because they didn't stand it anymore, or because they found a proper place to live in), I enjoyed the cabin alone for 2 or 3 days until I found out that it is not allowed for only one person to be in a cabin, so they moved a guy with me. The next day I checked out, simply because I was getting sick of the place… This is a review for the cabins at Danhostel where the first year students are staying at the beginning of their studies. I don't know how is the other part of the hostel, but I think that the parts with Wi-Fi and the common room apply to the whole hostel.
