My family and I stayed at Drake Bay Wilderness Resort six years ago and we have kept coming back since. Before our first stay, we researched all of the hotels in the area and felt that the location was the most beautiful; we could not have made a better decision! We could not speak of the atmosphere, the owners and employees, and the amenities more highly. The hotel catered to our dietary needs and made sure that we were comfortable. The all-inclusive resort comes up in conversation at least once a month for innumerable reasons: the breathtaking views of wildlife and the peaceful ocean waves; the luxurious meals; the kindhearted concierge that welcomes you and treats you like family; and the fact that I already plan my next trip days before I leave the current adventure. I greatly look forward to my next visit!

This is a beautiful place with friendly staff and tidy little rooms. The hammocks and swing were fun bonuses. Dinner was a little late for me (7 pm) but I think that's because I was with a large group. They were very flexible in accommodating my vegan diet (except for the snacks at 5 pm) and I really appreciated it.

This is my favorite hotel in all of Costa Rica. The owner, Marleny is an incredibly charming and beautiful lady and the other managers are her sons who are incredibly kind and helpful.
I was staying at this Marvel of a little hotel when I received the worst news of my life, that my 23 year old son had tragically passed away. Everybody helped me. I will never forget Adrian making sure that I got on the first morning boat to fly back on my journey to Canada which cook almost two days because of course this is in a remote location. There is no other place in Costa Rica that I find more beautiful, a piece of my soul will always reside here in room number seven. Thank you so much to every single person who works here and has worked here who has made my stays so incredibly healing, this place is saturated in Universal love and kindness.

Wonderful family owners running the place. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Delicious meals included. We loved our cabin — in a building with 3 units, we were on the end with lots of windows. Don't think we would have liked the middle unit as much. Bar area was fun. A guest who went deep sea caught a red snapper and a sea bass, and the hotel prepared ceviche and little fried fish appetizers, and wonderful supper filets. Thanks to all involved — superb! Tour to Corcovado was thrilling. Our guide, Manuel, was so, so good. The tour to the mangroves and Bird Island with Tico was excellent also and covered so much with finding different birds and monkeys — Tico and our boat captain were crazy good at spotting things! Very wonderful and memorable place :)

Great setting and very good service. Buildings are a bit tired but don't let that put you off at all. Very informative guides.

A really nice spot for snorkling.

What a magical untouched place. Great food, great service, right at the mouth of a beautiful river with a waterfall, beach right in front, many great tours, nature and wildlife everywhere. Rooms are VERY basic but do the trick. Would love to come back to this place!

It's the epitome of an authentic experience in Costa Rica. You feel like you're on your own private island; immersed in the beautiful Costa Rican culture accompanied by panoramic views of pure beauty. The mountains on one side, evergreen on another all surrounded by the majestic deep blue sea. Not to meantion the hospitality extended from those at Drake Bay. The family owned resort is so inviting and charming. All the hoteliers are beyond kind and helpful. It definitely made my experience memorable and I cannot wait to return! Pura vida. Xo.

Too many good things to say. Starting with the staff, everyone was personable and went out of their way to make our trip special. They arranged all of our tours, made us a very special meal for our anniversary. All of the food was delicious and different daily. The rooms have air conditioning. The wildlife on the property was abundant, with howler monkeys and even a boa constrictor living in the tree on the path to the pool. This is a very special place.

One of the most magical resorts I have ever been to. The views are breathtaking, the flora and fauna unbelievable in their diversity, and the staff are complete professionals. There is a simple pleasure from spending the day on expeditions or just relaxing either in the beautiful rooms or the spacious dining area. The meals are amazing, and were the highlights of every day.

Nature, history, peacefulness, good people… the best of places. The food is tasteful and well cared for. Our room was very spacious. We had a good time here. In the end of the day we used to go kayaking and before dinner met the other guests at the bar. Wonderful view!

This is a very special place in my heart. Everything you could ever ask for in a remote location. The melting sunsets, the ocean breeze, and howler monkeys all take you to a place only dreams can take you. Marlene is a wonderful hostess and will make sure your visit is one you will always remember. Don't forget to to ask about the whale tours in seasons and bug tour. Spent 10 days (extending our stay so I could learned to dive) at this resort. I mentally gage every dive I have done since based on those experiences. My visit may have been 15 years ago, but I will never forget the time I had spent here. Simply one of the most (best) detached from civilization experiences of my life. A guided visit to Corcavado is a must!

This is paradise away from everything. Try sitting in the pool (with a marg) & watch an afternoon lightning storm roll by in the Pacific. It doesn't get any better…

My parents and I stayed here for a few days in July 2013. We were the only guests for the majority of our stay, so we felt like celebrities with the whole resort to ourselves and with all meals being included. They offered me my own room for no extra charge since there was no shortage of them, and you pay by the person not the room. They allowed pets, and they even offered to dog sit our shih-tzu while we went to Corcovado National Park. The guided park tour we set up through the resort was amazing! Our guide was so knowledgeable and nice. We went kayaking up the Rio Aguajitas right by the resort on their kayaks that are available for use. We saw cudamonde and capuchin monkeys on the property. There's also a beautiful rope bridge within walking distance. On summer nights there are lightning bugs EVERYWHERE on the lawns between the rooms and the ocean. So magical! We loved every minute we were there.

The resort was everything I had hoped for. The location, warm ocean, outstanding views, jungle and remote. Macaw birds, howler and spider monkeys, white lip peckery pigs, boolo owl, and a taper are only some of the wildlife I encountered on our self guided and guided walks from the resort. This is a very clean, safe and secluded. Meals are included as well as daily laundry service. The cabins have an outstanding view of the ocean and are so close that you hear the ocean. This is a family run resort and they took excellent care of us. Drake Bay Wilderness Resort is off the grid, not much mentioned in tour books about the Osa Pennisula. It is undiscovered, exotic, remote, and affortable. I cant wait for my next visit.

A privileged place to be shared with a friendly people and human. Highly recommended for those who like nature and want to soak up costa rica in its pure state. That if, to care for it and treat it with delicacy, there are few places like this in the world and a massive tourism and disrespectful it can be polished in a few months.

Since it was founded in 1985, Drake Bay Wilderness Resort has continued to be a family run business. Our focus has been to take good care of our guests so that they'll feel right at home. We try to be as flexible as possible, taking into consideration people´s needs and we do our very best to fulfill special requests. For instance, we will prepare meals for special diets. Furthermore, the hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful locations in the area. It has large open areas with a bounty of beautiful flowers, tropical plants, big mango trees, and beach almond trees that attract the raucous macaws. The property gives you the feel of being in a private island since the river flows along the backside of the property and the whole front side meets the ocean. In addition to this, most visitors come to us by boat and the access by land to the hotel is a small path, unreachable by car, that is submerged in a jungle. Best of all, there is a paradise like view of the bay and ocean, reflecting the deep blue sky and, beyond that, hills bound in lush forests. We offer all sorts of extras that help make our guest's stay more comfortable and enjoyable. For example, we include a full laundry service at no additional charge. Kayaks close to the water are always at our guests´ disposal. We have a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, dock, and hammocks to relax under the shade of a tree with the cool ocean breeze blowing on you.
