I find it a very beautiful place, excellent food and nice staff Andres, Dariana, Keilyng, Sabrina, Melissa, Evelyn and Kenni super professional with the service, even nice to come back.

I stayed, this weekend, very good attention from the staff, very clean, the breakfast very rich, what disappointed me a little is the reception, it looks like the guard's house, I don't know what will happen when it rains, because the customers have to wait outside, that was the only thing I didn't like, but the guy at the reception very beautiful person in general All the staff.
If I recommend it, I would only suggest to the hotel, improve that detail.

This Particular Best Western was an amazing experience from the moment we checked in to moment we checked out. Checking in the receptionist was so friendly and helpful. Housekeeping manager Maxwell was the absolute best. He kept in touch making sure everything we needed we had. Room was always cleaned and replenished with toiletries. Maxwell was the greatest. Make sure to look for him.

Villas are to die for — great views costa is awesome.

The worst experience! Lousy customer service, at first we wanted to collect more of what they told us on the phone, then the noise unbearable to the bar next to the rooms, should at least warn the client before making the booking, the facilities are dirty and very untidy, the breakfast is super bad and nothing changed, I definitely do not recommend!

The staff is super friendly and help to book excursions, nice room and view! not counting the salty sols surf school, the owner Eric is amazing. Surfboards, bodyboards are free!

Our hotel stay was wonderful, we were with my sister enjoying an incredible villa is equipped with all the services. The room was very clean, with amazing detail and the Care and dedication of outstanding MAX, staff that was always ready and attentive to help us in what we needed to us and to all the guests staying. The breakfast and the food is of the best as the attention of the staff. It is a magical place, super recommended, we would return without a doubt! Rooms were fine. Service was fine. But they have their ladies night and the bar is pumping music loud. Shaking the room until late into the night.

It is a hotel that offers the essentials for a non-demanding traveler. Its building and villas have an exterior that can improve (it is rather old, lack of wheelchair access and reception — shed is a bit far away), but the interior of the rooms is quite comfortable and clean. Please navailable reception closes at 10pm. The pool is large and the breakfast buffet enough. They lend you furniture and items for the beach that is across the street. The staff is nice and friendly although not experts in tourist service.

Staff is very friendly and very helpful. Maricruz will give you good places to travel too and Jason in the bar is great always making sure you're fine. Pool was great and room was amazing. Staff is always on top of everything and if you simply need something they'll do it for you no problems. This is why I keep coming back to this hotel. Thank you and Pura Vida.

The time I spent at the Best Western hotel in Tamarindo was wonderful! The receptionist, JENNIFER was so sweet and kind to me from the time I checked in until I sadly had to check out. The bartenders were simply the best. I feel especially blessed that I got to meet Sharom. She went out of her way to say hello each morning and she just got more fun as the days went on. I have never laughed so much in my life. The surf instructor, Eric was the icing on the cake! He went above and beyond anything I expected. He was friendly and just fun to be around. 5 stars for sure. Thanks to everyone at the Best Western Vista Villas for an amazing vacation.

This hotel is pretty nice. The pool is good, the staff were very helpful and friendly. They are an easy 5 minute walk to the beach, and they have some free beach gear you can borrow if you stay here. They also have an open bar pool party every Friday night. If you like the local beers, they have all three at the bar. They can make a lot of drinks by request but don't have a drink menu persay. We had a couple of great cocktails (watermelon mojito stands out). It's not in the very core of tamarindo, but that is only an easy ten minute walk, and there is a ton of stuff right nearby.

I was with my friend in May 2018 at this hotel. The staff is very nice and insanely helpful. The room was small but had everything you need (safe, air conditioning, TV. )
The breakfast buffet was unfortunately too small and there was the same thing every day.
The pool was nice and has a poolside bar, however it often smells of food and drink. Often it also has locals by the pool, but it was never crowded.
One is fast at the ocean, parasol is recommended. We rented two sunbeds with one umbrella, 15 USD, very expensive.
Those who like Suft can borrow at the hotel surfboards, these are a bit old but fulfill their purpose.

Great hotel for location comfort and service. Watch out for the weekend where the pool can be overcrowded by some beer consumers and their unleashed unguarded offspring!

I don't usually take the time to write a review online but decided that I needed to go "above and beyond" just like the folks at Best Western hotel did. I stayed there with my wife and 2 daughters for almost 2 weeks in January. Everything was amazing and better than I ever expected. Every employee was wonderful, pleasant, and accommodating but I wanted to personally mention Adolfo and Mari Cruz for all of their additional efforts to make our vacation a truly wonderful and memorable one! The rooms were bigger than expected, with more amenities than expected. My whole family ended up getting the flu on the plane ride there which would have made it the worst trip ever if it wasn't for all of the help we received from the staff. The air conditioning was ice cold, the showers had endless hot water, the towels and bedding were clean and abundant, the kitchen had every cooking utensil/pans/plates/silverware/etc, the rooms were quiet, the hotel bar/restaurant served excellent food, the complimentary breakfast was a delectable feast — Everything was amazing. They also helped me with the language barrier for things such as a pharmacy, grocery store, the best restaurants, local attractions, transportation and excursions such as zip-lining, deep-sea fishing, and a catamaran cruise. They also provide free amenities I never expected such as beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, etc.

The place is in the process of improvement of infrastructure, the food I liked, the pool requires maintenance. You do not have access to the beach, no more than a bar. In reality it is not all-inclusive.

The signs of the hotel are after the entrance, the reception does not allow more than three people at the same time, is a hut, my room was about 100 meters uphill, the air conditioner does not funionaba nor the refrigerator, the parking is a building rubble area, to go to the pool you have to walk down stairs and to go to street level more stairs, if you take children do not think about this place, at night the stairs to the room have no lighting, the pool area enters people outside the hotel, breakfast was always cold and the thermos of the coffee was not served. The staff Esfyerza but the place doesn't help them. Hurts. To return to the hotel you have to climb stairs to exhaustion and if you go with a few tapis inside it will be rude… I don't recommend it.

This apartment is near Tamarind the road to cross for the beach. Fabulous sunset. Tamarind City at 5 minutes with all its shops and restaurants. The staff of Best Wesstern is very friendly, we eat locally but good. We loved it.

Awesome views, awesome staff, great bar and food. Was pleasantly surprised by how good the service was and the food. Free breakfast every morning, prompt service, and everyone remembered me, which is really a treat when you are not from around there. Staff in los angeles can learn a few things or two about hospitality from Costa Rica. Great job guys. Hope to see you next year if I do Ocaso again!

This hotel has two faces
We arrived at this hotel as part of a circuit in the holiday, to get to the 1 noon there were no rooms and the check in was at 3, so we left the luggage at the reception and went to lunch. My husband and I were given a room in the corner of the top floor with views to the jungle, " though of a jungle, nothing… only the trees that surround the hotel, an area too dry as to call it the jungle, in the room in general was clean, with the exception of the handle brass bathroom was black from dirt I was carrying, by the night when wanting to shower the faucets are not closed, this as expired so that cut the water was complicated, by the night it was impossible to sleep as the machines of the air-conditioners are installed on the outside walls and being very fine it sounded like a motor in the head, the pool full of people that was not even hosted in the hotel, whole families bringing their own food (what? ), or at least that said the pool bar when we ordered dinner, something similar to what I ate the rest of the people. The truth is that the rest of the guests when they saw the picture in the pool were, like us, the sun beds/lounge chairs are old and many of them broken. The second day we complained about the room and we put in another with the best views that had nothing to do with the previous, seemed to be two different hotels.

We got a doubleroom with a patio and view over the sea, really nice. Close to the beach. Breakfast is not good though, not much to choose from and the toast bread had mold on it.

Me and my wife been in the place in 2014 … Online I saw a nice big room and balcony! One Time over there … We got just small bedroom and balcony … I had this experience in the bathroom. My toothbrush felt between the wall and sink … lol … Now 2017 I see the price for room is $55 … In 2014 it was $135 …! The personal service it was nice. But sorry no more this place.

Nice view from the room, breakfast minimum, well located.

Very bad experience. Is the payment of a sum considerable of money to book a Villa "equipped" for 6 people where we find: — a rice cooker as of 1 1/2 cups (illogical for such a number of occupants). — refrigerators dirty and in a poor state (this was replaced by another by which we had to wait a day to cool)
— no coffee maker, template electric cochina and rusty. The toilet of the Villa terrible, in 3 days of stay did not change bed linen, and even ordered the same, in fact the cleaning service only included emptying garbage bins and change towels. On the other hand, pool is dirty, facilities are old, neglected and with a bad odor. The breakfast was exactly the same 3 days (not occurred to them, nor put ham to the egg at least). In summary, you are offering an expensive product that is far from the reality, and claims the only thing you receive is a "right" at the reception. I hardly think we will be tricked and come back to this place.

More of a hostel than a hotel, even if prices are higher than some proper hotels in the area. Breakfast was by far the most basic of all the places we went to in Costa Rica, you won't use the pool as there are no umbrellas or areas to sit in the shade, they forgot to service our room and gave us attitude when we asked the maid to clean. We emailed them before our arrival and never got a reply. Clearly they don't bother with their level of service as they're mostly fully booked due to their location. Tamarindo is small though, walk the extra 2 minutes and get yourself another place…

Excellent attention. Beautiful view from the room that we touched. Are currently re-modeling. The bar area and very nice restaurant. Lots of bleachers everywhere.

The facilities are a little neglected, but it is good, and what is more important is the treatment of the people who work, it is truly excellent, I recommend it highly to part of having an excellent location, right opposite the beach and with a view unmatched. The bar service is good, the food they provide in the morning is acceptable and if you have any questions be happy to advise. We provide surf boards and other articles for you have fun on the beach.

For being a Best Western, book it. The room is good, it's comfortable, but the public areas need a renovation. We had to ask for the beds to be fixed as the first night we were unable to sleep because of the noise that the boards were making under the mattress every time one was moved. Breakfast included very poor and every day the same.
In order much to improve.

I stayed here and was robbed of my wallet, with all credit cards, costa sunglasses, cell phone and one shoe… by the staff at this location. My cell left the hotel at 8:21 am. I would recommend to stay far away from tjis place.

We really enjoyed our stay at Vista Villas and it was in a great location! We stayed in the corona suite that had amazing ocean views off the balcony. The best perk was getting to use their surf boards, beach chairs, snorkeling gear and ice chest for free! Eric runs Salty Sols surfing out of this hotel and he was awesome! He is the best instructor.

The staff is very helpful and super friendly. The accommodations are clean and very comfortable, and some of the rooms have a great view of the ocean. The property is across the street from the beach and walking distance from anything you need in town.

Our experience has been fantastic. Reception, room service, restaurant, all great. Our view was gorgeous as well. Other negative reviews may talk about the more basic rooms, however the 4th floor, especially room 401 is really great. A lot of space, we'll maintained, balcony, not one complaint. And you get free equipment for the beach: surf boards, folding chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling equipment — all free. And surf lessons are $25 per person which is very reasonable. A+

My worst experience in Tamarindo. The first and last time, it more or first. I could not wait for me to be delivered to the room. After a super trip tired we arrived at the hotel which has a reception that seems to house guards. The care is lousy. We were told that the delivery of the room was at 3 pm but that we could make use of the swimming pool and the bar. I was already upset but agreed at the insistence of my daughter, who was dying to get to the pool. We had No where to move, we were offered the health service of the restaurant, I almost puke! I was taqueado and not just urine. Another point against it. I put my daughter to the pool, which was at plain sight, filthy, dirty, floating fat. I took a beer, served in a glass and nice little with a few rules of hygiene. To finish up with my limit becomes a subject (looked like a lady since coming in dress, hat and dark glasses) and surprise!. He removes the hat, the dress and the lenses and is almost naked, except for a thread that covered only his genital. By God!. I took my daughter to the pool, I grabbed my things, I called the front desk and explained the situation. Not expecting another answer sincerely. "You will be charged a penalty". I stuck my things in the car I went to another hotel where I fell sick. I don't know if the disgust, of the indisposition, or from poor hygiene in this place. It was tragic! And if there was less of a star, that would be my score.

Check-in lasted more than 30mins. The hotel is very old and the pool is very bad maintained. Although the room with ocean view was really nice, it didn't have soap or shampoo; when we asked for some it didn't come until the next day when we had to ask for it again. There is no room Service. The food is not that good. And, finally, we couldn't do check-out early morning because there wasn't anyone capable of doing check-out at 5:30am. Incredible! All in all, I sum it up in: bad service, old facilities and not good food.

This hotel does not adjoin the beach, so you have to cross a street to get to it… there is danger of finding crocodiles and there are undertows that make the beach very unattractive.
The hotel itself is extremely simple and the food is all coconut based.

This place is a joke. Don't stay on Friday night unless you're a party animal. They switched my room complimentary & I won't go into that disaster… not clean, very tiny, unless on level 4. The spectacular views are only from rooms starting with 3 & 4. Yes, it's "technically" across the street from the beach, but you have to walk down 100 stairs to the main street & then walk another 5-15 minutes to a legit beach road to enter the beach. Room service doesn't exist so don't let them tell you otherwise. Anything with chicken… avoid… precooked & frozen, gross, yet they say delicately grilled. Ribeye? Nope, we are out. Cheeseburgers? Nope. Coffee makers in rooms… but byoc! Wine drinker? NO WINE WHATSOEVER. Breakfast included? This place brings a whole new meaning to continental breakfast… cereal, fruit with flies all over it, tortillas & beans with rice. You can order eggs how you want, but only 2 & if you request anything special, it's an extra charge. The service is by far the worst I've experienced in all of Costa Rica, with the exception of Herold & Rene whose efforts just failed time & time again. If you want to relax by the pool, there are 4 broken lounge chairs. Enjoy.

Not what is posted! You would think so… but beware! I've posted pictures of what we experienced. I do have to say that new management is suppose to be taking over so there is hope. But they have their work cut out for them. Our room smelled and was dirty. Not just a little smell, the septic smell came up through an open pipe in the bathroom. A little toilet paper helped that. The ceiling fan made a lot of noise. We kept it off. The A/C works but was filthy. The room was set up strange. Bed was in the middle and furniture placed in weird places. It wasn't just our room so was our friends. Walls were dirty. Not what you would expect from a Best Western. Please check trip advisor also. You will see more reviews. They open their pool up to the public which brings more business to the restaurant. It gets packed. I really hope they change things with the new management. The people who worked their were very nice. My pictures are buried with all there promotional pictures.

My husband and I stayed here early July in 2015. Reasonably priced. Rooms are small, but didn't spend much time there, Wi-Fi was good, stayed by the pool at times it was loud. They offered complimentary breakfast. Also theres a bar and restaurant on property which is nice. We watched the sunrise and sunset from the balcony by the pool overlooking the ocean. It was a great view! Staff was friendly. No laundry facility and the fitness room is at the top of the hill if anyone is curious where it is. A bit of a walk to the main part of town but a short walking distance to the new supermarket up the road. Easy access to the beach, just across the road from the hotel.
