We booked a treehouse and the experience did not disappoint. Staying at a Nature Lodge was amazing enough with banana groves, papaya trees, toucans and hiking trails but the treehouse added to the experience. Hearing the howler monkeys or toucans while sipping coffee on our deck and the 270 degree view from inside was spectacular.

The food and rooms are fantastic! The staff here is amazing and very accommodating!

Our stay here was amazing, definitely recommend! We stayed in the treehouse bungalow, so cool, the scenery was the best! Omar, Brandon, Alejandro, Oscar and Roy treated us like family,, the hospitality was top notch! They arranged our tours, drove us around and even gave us personal tours! Definitely recommend doing the night walking tour with Roy and the whitewater rafting excursion with Wave Rafting company in La Fortuna, do the Class 3 and 4 trip, you won't be disappointed! Enjoy!

This is an extraordinary hotel! The hotel staff are like a family once you are there. I went for my honey moon and will go back for sure. The food is great, the views. The tree houses are comfy and a is unique experience! I recommend it to any one! You will love it as much as I did!

Heliconias Nature Lodge is absolutely beautiful. It’s a serene, quite, family friendly place. The rooms are impeccable and the grounds are very well kept. We seen sloths from our balcony and in the resorts. We had the Deluxe Bungalow and after looking at the tree house Bungalows we were happy we got the Deluxe one because the back view was like no other. The staff is amazing! They were very helpful and kind. At no time did we ever feel like anyone was trying to rip us off, it was good intentions all around.
I totally recommend this place you will not be disappointed.

A unique, jungle experience where one can relax and enjoy. The gardens are amazing!

The staff treats you like family; the rooms and resort are beautiful. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Breakfast is free with the rooms, too. This is a family run business and they were patient with the Americanos who were attempting Spanish. Lovely people, lovely resort!

What a beautiful place to stay in! We loved it! We went last week & it’s slow season, we & one other family were the only guests there! The staff was extremely hospitable, place was so beautiful & fun. The organic greenhouse was so cute, restaurant was nice with large portions & just an overall amazing experience. Highly recommend.

I'm not sure I can quite say how amazing this place is, but I'll try. My hubs and I came to CR for vacation after I completed a mission trip and started researching the best places to explore for our week long stay.
Arenal was recommended to us, and while searching booking. Com we discovered this property. I didn't know if it was better to stay in La Fortuna directly or if being a bit further out was a good idea. I can say with total confidence staying here is 100% better than any other option! First of all the staff is unbelievably friendly. Family owned and operated and it truly shows from front desk check in to tours onsite and restaurant experiences and even house keeping. Attentive and caring staff, respectful and very accommodating. But oh my goodness… the ROOMS ARE AWESOME! So beautiful and well appointed. We just had the standard room category — and that's amazing — but the deluxe cabin or tree houses are really amazing. I will for sure come back here and stay in a tree house. The grounds are so well kept, the pool is very clean and attractive. The property is so well designed and so well taken care of. You can take tours provided by the hotel,
Or the front desk will arrange excursions, transportation and anything else. We took their bird watching tour and it was so personalized and special. Well worth the time and we saw a sloth, many amazing birds, and several toucans.

It promises what it doesn't hold!
We stayed for 5 nights at Heliconia's Nature Lodge. It was our most expensive accommodation and at the same time the worst in our 4 week holiday!
+ good service in terms of tours and transport
— poor location, 30 minutes by car to the centre of La Fortuna
— own restaurant is outrageously expensive, but due to its location, the guest has no alternative to catering (appetizers start in double digits! )
— the price range, we would have hoped for a more varied breakfast! 5 days scrambled eggs and/or pancake is really unpretty!
— In addition, our glass bungalow was covered by an ant road that went right next to our bed. Reason is known: A tree under the bungalow with nectar. However, it is simply sold as normal. We then changed our accommodation at night at 12, when we could no longer count the ants, with our one-year-old son.
— the private haul for $180was also outrageously expensive as the driver could not speak or understand a word of English and we had to navigate it at the end because he had been going despite Navi and was hopelessly overwhelmed.
Summary: We would not recommend it and would not book a second-time accommodation there!

We stayed in March 2016. Such a fantastic family run lodge. Super friendly and the best breakfast and coffee you can imagine. I hope to return someday.

The best place to stay while visiting El Arenal/La Fortuna. Family owned and operated. Nice, quaint and next to the jungle. Food and service is top notch, definitely recommended.

The staff was wonderfully friendly, the hotel was beautifully set in the jungle, and overall it was a great base to go out and see the rest of the area from.

Better than the pictures. Why stay in the city when in the jungle? It is just close enough to all the attractions and just far enough away from the tourists. The hotel is run by family. I fell like they welcomed us into their home. If they are ever in Florida, they are welcome in my home. By the way, they breakfast and food at the restaurant is first class.

Family owned and operated, genuinely kind and caring. The property is gorgeous, filled with gardens, trees, and fields beautifully​ maintained. The bungalows are quaint and the treehouses extra special experience built among fruit trees. Pick right from your porch! The mango treehouse is the gem — extra spacious and charming. Restaurant is open air with clean modern kitchen — all food fresh, prepared with care and pride. Treat yourself if travelling through this area.

Loved it. It is very rustic. They have their own mini farm. If you are looking for something that is not luxurious but close to the nature then I will definitely recommend this place. The food is delicious, slightly pricy with limited menu. Would definitely recommend to stay here. Enjoy the dinner experience (probably once/twice at most)

The best service I have ever received at any hotel or Lodge. The cabins are new and beautifully constructed. The restaurant has delicious local foods. The grounds are and gardens are gorgeous. Would strongly recommend!

Location is kind of inconvenient for sightseeing, being roughly 30 minutes or more from the popular spots by car. Rooms are pretty nice overall, and the scenery is pretty. Food at the restaurant could have been better. All in all a pretty nice place though.

This is truly a piece of heaven on earth. The natural beauty is only surpassed by the beauty and hospitality of the people. Thank you staff of the Heliconias for making this vacation absolutely incredible!

We had an amazing experience at Heliconias Nature Lodge. The atmosphere and service were extraordinary, we would definitely visit again. Oscar, Omar, and Alejandro were friendly and provided exceptional service. We highly recommend staying here! This lodge is approximately 25 minutes to the downtown area of La Fortuna so it is close enough to visit the main attractions during your stay.

When I visit a new country one of my favorite things to do is a road trip and see what most don't see. We made a home base in Tamarindo, rented a car first thing in the morning and took off to see Arenal! The drive was long and windy but amazing, 3 hours in we stopped at Lake Arenal Brewery and hotel! Beer was great and so was the view from the bar! Wish we would have not made such permanent arrangements. After a beer or two and checking out the grounds and all the monkeys we continued around the lake. Gorgeous drive. Be prepared for a windy road. Then made it up to the Heliconias Nature lodge, where we met Oscar, he directed us to our treehouse and gave us a restaurant recommendation. (btw we thought we were lost for a while, it's way farther out than you think… but worth it! ) got there and the views and grounds were like nothing I've seen before. The jungled archway to our treehouse was amazing. The room was so clean and perfect (I was expecting so many bugs) … the views and the thunderstorms in the mountains were to die for. It was a perfect birthday adventure! I would give this 10 Stars. They left the bed decorated with flower petals and a bottle of wine for my big day! Perfect hotel, service and grounds! Thanks Heliconias Nature Lodge for the great birthday! It was the authentic, most perfect birthday I could have asked for!
