Definitely its tranquility, a place that allows you to contemplate the sea in all its fullness only with the sound of the waves in the background. In the morning the sounds of birds, the breeze, watch the squirrels run… The kindness and tenderness of all the people who help make your stay unforgettable. A place to repeat. Ahh and of course Sun and Rambo loving puppies.

It was an incredible spot on a secluded beach. Quiet and nature abound. Love the nights he candlelight.

This place was a highlight of our month-long trip to Colombia. The staff were amazingly kind and hardworking. The setting is spectacular and the beach was relatively quiet. We stayed 8 nights and didn’t want to leave. There is no electricity in the cabanas but they give candles and matches. It really helps disconnect from our busy digital lives. Food is good, if a bit salty. A little Spanish goes a long way, but not entirely necessary.

Absolutely stunning spot near Palomino. The hotel is a bit outside of the town, but all meals are included, so you'll never want to get too far from the absolutely perfect beach. If the waves are a bit too rough, there's a lagoon formed from a river nearby and daytrips to river rafting, the flamingo reserve and Tayrona. Also, don't use Google Maps to get you here — — they'll take you down the wrong road. Just drive east from Palomino until you see the sign for it, along the left side of the road. Also note — the cabanas don't have any electricity or Wi-Fi, so enjoy the sun, the sand, the sea and the stars by candlelight.

It's just spectacular. An eco-reserve, with spectacular rustic cabins, exquisite food, an absolutely adorable staff and a relaxing atmosphere to disconnect. The best thing is that it's without light. Everything at night is with candles and torches that makes it super cozy, romantic and delicious!
I love this place. It's one of my favorite pieces of Paradise.

El Matuy is one of the rare places that I find myself thinking about long after I've left its beautiful beach and bungalows. There is truly no other experience of a vacation where I have departed feeling so wholly welcome and complete. The beach is beautiful with access to a river only 1 km down the way. Seasonal, local and delicious foods are plentiful and always ensured I left my plate empty and myself satisfied. Everyone stays in the wonderful bungalows, with outside showers so you can look at the sky and stars unobstructed by any city. If there is one fault, it is the lack of hot water, but that is easily forgotten when looking at everything else around. One of the best reasons to visit El Matuy lies in its encouragement of truly 'leaving everything behind' because of its lack of electricity. The rooms are lit every night by candlelight and the 'chillout' area in the evening glows while listening to nice music and relaxing on comfortable chairs. During the day hammocks by the water wait for people to come down to read and nap. There is Wi-Fi, but with so many more inviting opportunities, it's the last thing on my mind. Customer service is excellent, the owner kind and helpful, and the beach dogs friendly. It truly has it all, and I can't wait to return to this wonderful place.

I love El Matuy! It is the only place where I can really relax. The food is delicious, the staff very friendly, and the place is beautiful. There is no electricity in the cabins but the whole place is lit with candles and lanterns, making it even more beautiful at night! They do have electricity at the front desk so you can charge your phone though, and they also have Wi-Fi at the front desk. Highly recommended!
