Beautiful place to stay, even with children!

Wow. Breathtaking views, exactly as advertised. Well worth the trip. We also had a few little squirrels visit on our balcony — cute!

5 stars Everything about this hotel is amazing, we loved our time there and will defiantly go back. The staff were so friendly and the food delicious but our favourite and most memorable thing was the fact that you can lie on your bed and look out on the Greet Wall, the rooms are something else. … The town itself is worth exploring, the little streets and houses so quaint.

We had a lovely 2-night stay with our two small children during the Chinese New Year. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the food was excellent, and the room was cozy and nicely furnished. Would definitely recommend, and we will be back!

The people were lovely and the views were amazing. The food was overpriced really and very oily but I did really enjoy the trout. Best cooked trout I’ve had in China. The rooms are really nice and every one has a view of the wall. I would definitely go back there, without a doubt.

Sadly we were disappointed following our stay in the Brickyard property Persimmon Villa. On arrival we were told the jacuzzi was out of order. We were told not to go in the basement / fourth bedroom lounge area because of damp. During our stay more and more ‘stink bugs’ appeared throughout the property dropping on heads in bed, flying over dining table and covering windows. This was especially distressing for the younger children in our party. A new warehouse had been built directly in front of villa impacting on rural views and access. Despite liaison with the hotel housekeeping did not arrive until 7.30pm on Saturday night during a special Birthday meal. We contacted the hotel three times during our stay, about our concerns and disappointing experience, but received nothing more than an acknowledgement that the email had been received. On a positive note the interior of the Villa was spacious and nicely furnished. The lady who checked us in was helpful. The hotel shuttle took us up to the nearby Wall twice for some amazing walks and down to the hotel itself for an enjoyable lunch in relaxed and beautiful surroundings. It was a real treat to meet the artist Gregory Burns, currently in residence at the Brickyard, and see some of his new works. All in all a pleasant stay somewhat marred by a issues at the Villa.

The room was cold even with the heat all the way up. The accommodations were nice but basic. The views and facilities are nice.

It was a very fantastic view and experience that being in China and great wall. It is certain that I will bring my family there within few years. You must feel the history, ancient wall and coast from mountain to valley. Have fun.

The grounds of the hotel and the rooms are very nice, however its very pricey for what it is. We booked here for the spa element, however upon arrival were told the jacuzzi was broken and the only other sites features were massages which were very expensive compared to other places we've been. The service is hit and miss, we've certainly had better in less expensive places.

Wonderful location looking up to the Great Wall. Brickyard is very thoughtfully and artisically designed throughout. Room was extremely comfortable and had spectacular view across to the mountain with the Great Wall perched on top. Tasty menu in the restaurant and good drinks selection. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Would highly recommend as an antidote to Beijjng. Clears the lungs and refreshes the mind!

I loved my stay at the Brickyard Retreat and would highly recommend it. The setting, just under the mountains with the Great Wall strung along them like a garland, is incredibly majestic and inspiring (I am an artist! ) and it is unique to be able to live under the Great Wall and to wake up each morning to views of it. I loved seeing the landscape and the Great Wall in the evening, sitting upstairs on top of a flat roof, watching the sun set. The food was so delicious, the rooms are very special and comfortable. I found the staff very friendly and I felt as if I was at home. I also loved the events that took place in the garden, by the Lotus pool, with live music and food. The Brickyard Retreat is a very special and unique place and will stay in your memory forever.

I got laid by several females every night for four nights. Best time of my life… oh the food was great to.

Good food and affordable. Kind of a hipster-ish place. A mix of western and Chinese foods on their menu. Service was good on our visit. The location is very cute and relaxing. Will return in the future.

Would like it even more if we slept in the wall itself. They need real milk. Overall very disappointed with my service. I would rate this 0 stars its that bad.

Fabulous location, where else can you get a view of the Great Wall from not only your room but from the toilet! Food is good too​, spa was nice after a hard hike on the wall. Staff was super helpful with great suggestions on where to walk on the wall. Rooms could do with some tissues and the hot water was a touch limited. Just a bit more spit and polish for a boutique retreat.

Enchanted and beautiful resort near an easy-to-view part of the Great Wall of China. The theme here, an old brickyard, is consistent throughout and tho rooms are a bit small for a family and there are no adjoining rooms available, it's still a great choice. The on-site restaurant has a nice breakfast buffet with a small selection of high-quality foods. They also have an organic garden on the premises.
