Stopped in for dinner. Was good here before but the new management has made some unfortunate changes to menu, ambience and service. A shame… will have to find somewhere else.

I stay here for work all of the time (3-4 times a month at least) … was previously rated 4 stars because the staff were amazing and cared. The old staff certainly did so. Under new management. Seems everything is to save a buck, and it's too bad. It's about the little things that set you apart. Nice enough accomodation if you need to be close to the airport. Hopefully in the future I can rate it higher when the same quality of service and care is provided that used to be there.

The rooms were alright and one of the staff members, Katie was very accommodating. The same can't be said of the rest of the staff. Housekeeping cleaned the living areas but forgot to clean the bathroom. The restaurant experience was below par.

Stayed here couple of times. Clean spacious rooms. Good restaurant attached The Lakes. Enjoyed the stay, really.

I got there late at night and the man working at the desk was very kind, the bed was comfortable and the room clean. I don't recommend going to the restaurant connected for breakfast, I don't know about dinner though.

The staff is wonderful & they even had a surprise doggie bag when we checked in with treats & poop bags with a case! The rooms are always super clean & the beds are amazing! My husband & I have stayed a few times as a little getaway & look forward to staying there again!

Having stayed there for several days over the past 5 years, I can admit it's an excellent, quite, clean and worthy choice. The staff will not bother you at all, always there to help you. I enjoyed their free-for-all jacuzzi and pool. Nice place near Elk Lake and Saanich. Bus stop almost outside.

The receptionist staff were not welcoming whatsoever. I wanted to ask a quick question but was left waiting to the point where I decided to walk away. I attended a professional event in the banquet hall. The room was a little dated in regards to the furniture and carpeting. The serving staff, in contrast to the receptionists, were excellent! The food served was mediocre but I enjoyed the varied selection on the menu.

Had a great experience here and I've never seen a hotel so accommodating to pets. We had a room with outdoor access and they prepared it by covering the couch with a sheet and provided a spare towel for our 4 legged family member. It definitely made us feel welcome and happy to stay.

It was great with a newborn, we had a room that was only beside one room. So only one wall was adjoining. It was great. Do Be very careful no freezer in the room.

Great staff, what great beds. Christmas eve check in and they went above and beyond to make sure everyone was settled and comfortable. Even down to a little present hanging on our door in the morning. Great job all, Merry Christmas.

Perfect place to lay your head down. Easy access to ferries, airport and downtown. Clean and comfortable. Great staff! Very courteous and helpful.

I stay here for work all of the time… it is an older hotel but the staff are amazing, they've updated the small things and it is always clean. Very accommodating. The decor isn't the best but it's a good hotel and steps to the bus stop. Downtown in 30 minutes. Food at the restaurant is pretty good too.

Location is astounding, quite nice. Sadly pool is closed seasonally (jacuzzi is always fine). It's beautiful, reasonably quite. Might stay again.

Amazing and attentive staff. As a flight Attendant I see a ton of hotels. This one is up there near the top. We came in late and the restaurant/bar was closed, so they had some sandwiches made for our crew. I realize that not everyone gets this treatment, but I was pleasantly surprised. Thank you. I can't wait to come back.

It was good. Was attending a work related meeting. Food service was good and the rooms were nice.

Nice hotel with amazing staff. A nice lake nearby to go exploring but not too much else around. Rooms are nice and the hotel has an outdoor pool and indoor hot tub. Restaurant connected has good food as well.

Great value for the service. Great location close to the highway, 15min from downtown Victoria, away from the noise and traffic. The staff were very nice, professional, and quick in checking us in/out. The rooms were clean, inviting, and quiet. Beds were comfortable. Room furnitures can use some upgrades.

Service was great, restaurant food was good, and the room was nice. Pool was very cold, but the weather was scorching hot that day, so it was alright!

Room is very lean. Great outdoors pool for everyone. Hot sauna indoor. Parking under structure. Location very near the Butchart garden and butterflies garden.

Met some friends for brunch. My food was nice and hot and delicious. The server forgot to bring me my drink that are requested but I don't consider that to be good deal since it was pop. Very courteous service and I would definitely go back with friends.

Clean room. Free Wi-Fi. Comfortable bed. Decent breakfast at the restaurant.

Both beds, double queen room, had bumpy, tilted (sloped) mattress, room smelled like they 'cleaned' with a generic version of febreeze and cheap incense. Complained about the smell/mattress issues and requested a room change. They denied my request and would not refund to allow me to leave so I could find a more accommodation place to stay. I will not stay here again. The staff was friendly but not overly helpful.

I work at Westjet and this is one of the top 5 hotels in our company. Great staff, amazing service, comfortable rooms. A+

Our room was 3rd floor facing the highway. It was cleanand, quiet & comfortable. The pool and hot tub were fabulous and the restaurant breakfast was good.

The hotel was excellent, service was really good and the restaurant food was fantastic. Highly recommended this hotel.

Super friendly, clean rooms, and the bikes are a nice added bonus on a summers day. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Went there for a retirement banquet. The staff did an excellent job providing us with whatever we needed. The location is conveniently located just off the highway so it was easy to get to and from there quickly.

There was no fan in the washroom, the room was incredibly hot (even with air conditioning on) and the beds were too soft.

I went for wings night, but I can't drink due to a medication I'm taking — so I couldn't get the wings deal. Additionally, the service was not very friendly.

Got pancakes for breakfast, was delicious, and only $7. Good deal. Good food.

We made our reservations a month ahead and received a confirmation number. This hotel did not honor our reservation and we wound up in an unsavory motel in a bad neighborhood. The staff at Howard Johnson treated us rudely and did not apologize.

The hotel bar wait staff earlier in the day were quite lovely, as well as the two people at the front desk. Later that night. Let's talk about the man at the front desk with the tattoo on his neck (I don't care about tattoos but it is a way to identify people) who lacked customer service skills (and probably, social skills). We arrived in the lobby close to 0100 and I was a DD, so I picked up on all his "crazy". He went authoritarian on us for being too loud in the lobby. Once again, I was sober and we were simply talking; it was possible that the numerous people in the lobby made it louder. If you don't want to accommodate 15 people in a lobby, don't make it big enough to accommodate 50. No one was doing anything inappropriate. This person could have asked nicely, could have been slightly more accommodating considering two people just got married, it was a Saturday night, and it's not like there was a shortage of cash flow. I don't know how to quanitfy "weird", however, extremely rude comes to mind. Fire this guy. Then maybe go check out his basement. You never know. I will never stay at a HOJO after that experience. What a way to end the night.
