We stayed in the one bedroom suite just after the Victoria long weekend for an awesome 3 nights. Sadly our first encounter with the front desk staff left us feeling a bit off; Ian, whose lapel tag read “I’m new”, did not offer a warm welcome. We are a super friendly family and do understand that he’s new; he didn’t smile at all though and preauthorized our credit card for almost $300 more than was expected. I asked why there was such a huge difference in the pricing and he explained that since we had three people in our group that there was an additional charge. I did explain that we had booked for the three of us initially and were surprised to see the huge difference in price; he didn’t offer much more of an explanation. Shortly after arriving to our room he phoned us to let us know that he made an error but did not apologize. This hotel is perfectly located to access the harbour and all your downtown shopping needs. The room was clean and housekeeping was amazing throughout our stay. Also a huge shout out to our room service gentlemen, I wish I remembered his name as he was very kind and funny. We even ran into him in the elevator a number of times and he joked with our son, extremely pleasant! The pool was being renovated which was disappointing, we had booked expecting renovations to be completed almost a month before our arrival. The pool we were able to access across the street was not comparable as it was quite basic and without a waterslide — which is what our sons vacation is seemingly all about. The beds in our suite were double not queen size as advertised. The in room toiletries were also not as advertised. The front desk staff were not welcoming throughout our stay but everyone else was. 4 stars for the location, cleanliness, food, parking, and friendly wait staff. Loss of star for amenities not being as advertised, off-putting front desk staff, and pool closure.
