Additional charges for mini-bar that was never used Unacceptable!
Just out of curiosity — what is $20.50 that you are charging me for? What did I “eat-drink”?
No regular “St. Paul” water bottles provided when I checked-in… had to go and ask at reception.

This place is supposed to be the IT boutique hotel in Montreal… and I was not impressed. It’s starting to show it’s age and ware. We rented a suite for one night. No blackout drapes and the floors were dirty and damaged.

Elegant, great design and comfortable a true European experience.

Just had a wonderful experience at the Hotel St-Paul. My husband and I held our wedding reception there 14 years ago and thought it would be fun to return to celebrate this years wedding anniversary (we live in Vancouver). The staff were friendly, attentive and willing to go the extra mile to make our stay memorable. The hotel is located in a great part of Old Montreal and is within easy walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, the shopping district, historic Montreal and public transportation. I'd recommend this hotel in a heartbeat.

Top floor is missing blinds but has wooden doors to block the light though it let's in the outside light a little too much. They were accommodating in me switching rooms.

Recently completed a weekend stay here that was significantly below expectations. First a minor issue: the hotel does not provide luggage racks, so you must keep your luggage on the floor or place it on the desk or other furniture. More disappointingly, during a fire alarm, the hotel staff provided no assistance or guidance to guests, which left a number standing outside in their bathrobes with no footwear and no information as to what was going on or when the incident had ended. Most disappointedly, I had checked some items with the porter after I checked out while going to brunch. The porter experienced some confusion and attempted to give half our bags away to another party. Being distracted by this I failed to notice that a small bag of souvenirs we had purchased was not returned to me. After contacting the hotel they assured me they would ship the item back, which they did. I was surprised to see however, that they gave the UPS store in Montreal by credit card information to charge for the shipment, as there was no charge disclosed to me, nor did I authorize the release of that information. I spoke with a manager, Olivea, about the incident, but he didn't feel that the hotel had any responsibility for returning the checked items properly and that the onus was on the guest. I was in Montreal for the weekend investigating hotels to use for a planned wedding there. Unfortunately the St. Paul will not be on that list.

Great comfortable hotel. First night of sleep already felt like or better than home.

Hotel St Paul is located in the beautiful old City of Montreal. It's conveniently located near shopping and great food. The rooms are luxurious and the beds are very comfortable although they are not firm. The staff is amazing and very much want you to have a pleasant stay.

The hotel itself is very elegant; the staff courteous and accommodating; the location superb (if the Old City is your destination). The rooms are nicely appointed, comfortable, and spacious. We enjoyed the Nespresso machine and complimentary pods. We did not eat at the restaurant or have drinks at the bar, though from the lobby these spaces appeared to be very well put together. Our stay, unfortunately, featured an incident on the floor beneath ours, which involved four police squads, paramedics, and firefighters. Not quite sure what transpired, but the front of house staff handled it calmly and with the utmost professionalism. I'd definitely stay there again, next time without the drama.

The bathroom is beauiful. Love the room. They are a bit small. The location is perfect for a night out!

Absolutely loved this boutique hotel! The interior design is modern and eclectic, appears recently renovated. Bathrooms are spacious and well designed with good lighting, counter top space and very large baths. Beds are very comfortable and the coffee was a Nespresso machine. Lots of storage space.

Rooms are fairly small. Cool architecture. They have a Nespresso machine in the room, but only 2 non-decaf pods. More in the mini bar for 3.50 apiece. Little bit nickel and dime nonsense there. The Continental breakfast is total waste of $. Don't bother. Super basic. OJ isn't fresh squeezed. Fruit kind of sad. Scrambled eggs are only hot item. Pastries nothing special. Better off going to Starbucks.

The bar as an amazing ambiance. Meals are esthetic, full of flavors, and the staff is friendly. The only cons that I saw was the fact that the drinks are way too overpriced. Although, my experience was really pleasant, we are going back. This is a perfect place to host events, or business meetings.

Convenient location to visit the landmarks of Montreal.

Great hotel. The room, the staff and the ambience is really close to perfection! On the other hand, I ordered a breakfast in the room and honestly $40 for 3 small croissants and not so fresh fruit, it disappointed me.

I stay here every month when I visit our Montreal office at work. It is easy walking distance of everything near the old port. The bar/restaurant Hambar is awesome… especially the staff. Salad has a great dressing. Cheese platter is awesome especially the riopelle cheese. Rooms are modern and beds are mostly upgraded now. The gym was upgraded but it is relatively small but still functional with elliptical, treadmill, bicycle, universal machine and lots of dumbbells, mats, balls etc. Also free apples and water and towels in gym. Breakfast is mostly cold but good with a selection of cheese, cold cuts, fruit, yogourt, pastries, coffee, juice etc. Nice turn down service with chocolate and tomorrow’s weather. Lots of good restaurants nearby. Stay here and you won’t be disappointed.

Excellent "boutique / full hotel". I've stayed here 10+ times and always have a great stay and good sleep.

Nice historic building, the location is great, and the hotel is decent but it was a bit of a disappointment, I should say that attention to detail is very important in small luxury hotels; we were assigned an OK room on the top floor and the strong perfume from a cheap room deodorizer made us request a change of room (the windows didn't open for fresh air, and it was also cold outside) ; they upgraded us to a lower level room that it was OK 'again', but after eleven pm the party downstairs was so loud that the vibration shaken the room to the sound of the bass; overall it was an OK experience. I doubt we will stay in this hotel again.

It was very beautiful but the service left to be desired. When we checked in the receptionist was talking on the phone and it was so long that we went to supper.
When we wanted checkout we asked that it be done while we were leaving for lunch and when we came back it was still not done.
Otherwise the room was nice and the breakfast good.

Terrible housekeeping. We found an animal behind the bed, safe box didn’t work despite asking the front desk to fix it, beds were not made properly and didn’t sweep the flooor on a daily basis. Extremely disappointing — would not return nor recommend.

Sexy with a retro feel, this boutique hotel is on the very edge of Old Montreal but the location is ideal. It is a few minutes from the metro station or bus that will take you right downtown or just walk down rue, St. Paul to the waterfront and enjoy! We loved this roomy Eurpoean inspired hotel. They are renovating the rooms so be sure and ask for one of those. Only thing I did not like was that the hallways were a bit dimmly lit. No worries, I felt safe and it was very quiet in the halls. The breakfast was also more of a traditional European buffet with great coffee and Montreal Bagels! Enjoy!

This hotel has very fine and elegant touches, this nuy well located and the staff service is very good. The only detail that I do not give 5 stars is because the halls and restaurants are small and feels very crowded.

A very nice hotel and centrally located in the heart of Montréal.

Historic exterior, modern interior, in the heart of historic Old Montreal. The hotel has a good European-style breakfast buffet with cold cuts, fancy cheeses, and many more foods. There's also a bar, called Hambar that features a good menu with charcuterie. Not cheap, but if you can afford it, this is a great hotel.

The service wasn't very good. We were a group of roughly 20. We weren't given a point of contact and no one was there to help us out as we started our conference. We weren't given a Wi-Fi code, we constantly ran out of coffee as there wasn't enough for everyone to have even one cup. We had to make many trips downstairs to ask for these things. Also for a couple people in our group experienced frequent disconnects from the Wi-Fi, ranging from every hour all the way to every minute. The decor, however, was hilarious. Golden sofas, purple ottomans with linked gold plates dividing the middle, and many variations of the same abstract painting.

Beautiful building and our room was fantastic. Very large tub and bathroom, bedroom was spacious as well. Staff was attentive and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Nice room and amenities, but service falls below expectations. No water or coffee replacement in the room by housekeeping. TVs difficult to operate. Wireless service hit and miss. Workout area very small. Staff OK but never had a sense they really had any concern about our well being or how our stay was going. Also charged a rate above the one advertised on their own website. Not a good marketing scheme! Overall, a nice place but rough around the edges for the boutique hotel it espouses to be.

The room looked great, the bed was comfortable, she the shower was hot… So all the basics were set. Beyond that, they let me set the temperature really low (how I like it) and had plenty of outlets. So my night staying here was great. The ONLY disappointment was breakfast. $21 and it was just fruit and bread. Oh well.

Friendly service, nice room. Bedroom had refinished original hardwood floors, a purple couch and nice lights. Bathroom is nice and bright. Shower works well, but I think they have a hot water issue. Once in a while the shower would start shooting cold water for a second then go back to hot.

We took the romantic package and were disappointed. First the bed, the duvet had no cover but a sheet above a sheet underneath. The shutters let the light through. For breakfast served in the room, I had to explain to the person that it was included. And although we had confirmation of the late check-out at 3pm, 4 people disturbed us to confirm our departure time. And when I talked about it at the front desk, I was entitled to a "ah yes it's true it's disturbing".

This hotel is over priced for the value. Won't be back. Very disappointed in the staff, very rude. First time in Montreal and this place left a sour taste in my mouth and to top it off for the price there was no breakfast included continental breakfast that's it which looked non appetizing! Will definitely let people know not to go here!

We were recommended this boutique hotel when visiting Montreal the other year due to its location, being interesting and catering to parking After some of the standards of hotels whilst on our road trip this was a pleasant surprise and vs the price an even better result Staff were very welcoming and helpful and we had a great stay without any problems. We were able to walk a short distance from here to the main out town area and for the various events at that time of visit Would recommend as a good option of hotel in montreal.

I've like my travel in this hotel, the service was A ONE! The staff most of all was really friendly! They make my vacations better! Thanks you! I would recommend this place for sure.

Spent most of the night trying to ignore the smell of urine from the drainage in the floor of the bathroom. Beds fairly comfy but that's it. Pay a few dollars more and go to Le Crystal instead.

Modern hotel, had a good bed and friendly staff. That's basically all you need in a hotel. And yeah great location next to some highlights of Montreal.

Been here one night and already love this hotel. Valet was friendly and quick to help with anything you needed. Parking was a little hard to find as the city was buried under 26cm of snow that day.

Superb hotel, with a renovation of taste.

The hotel itself looks incredible. The location in the city is brilliant, and the architecture is lovely with its old look, but the interior is very modern. Staff was one of the most pleasant I've seen in a hotel, ready to go out of their way to help you. Hallways were a bit dark, but that's not too much of an issue. Our room was great, but it didn't have the best view (had the emergency stairways in our face). Highly recommend it if you can afford.

Great boutique decor, quite a cold lobby, good restaurant with good servers. The bellhops needs to be better trained on etiquette and manners. One of the male waiters we had was particularly unpleasant. I do not know why as I left the hotel and restaurant with a 1, 5K bill for only 4 days. I think there is a lot to do to overcome the mild snobbery and focus on customer service. Most major hotel chains overtake this place when it comes to customer service. All in all: great location, comfortable beds, huge bathrooms and bathtubs (a big +) but lacking on all other major fronts.

The junior suit was very nice with two TVs, one in the bed room and one in the living room. The couch pulled out into a bed. The hotel was clean and nice but a little tired around the edges (I think that's why they have low lighting in the halls) but still nice. The continental breakfast was very good with lots of options. The cost was also fairly reasonable but we had a discount coupon.

I've been here 10 minutes and I'm 4 stars in love already. Clean. Upscale. Friendly. French. Dog friendly. What can I say? Only reason it hasn't gotten a 5, is because I am nervous to over rate too soon.

I stayed at this hotel with my friend when we were in Montreal. While there, I had planned to get work done so we made sure to get a hotel with Wi-Fi. We were there for 4 nights and the Wi-Fi only worked for about 4-5 hours our entire stay there. The rest of the time, it was trying to connect. When we alerted the staff, we were told that they were working on it and that it's an outside company in charge of the internet and it's out of their hands. It was very frustrating not to be able to do the work that needed to be done. Other than that, the staff are incredibly friendly and nice. If not having internet connection isn't an issue, then this hotel is definitely in a prime location.

The staff here is great — they will try to give you want you want. But I would not recommend it for business travelers. There is no real desk or space to setup and be able to work in the hotel room.
