Tartu College Student Residence Hotel

Budget residence for students. During summers, they allow others as well. Works on a shared apartment basis. Typically 4-6 suites in 1 apartment. You get your room and share the bathroom and kitchen with other flatmates. *standard suites do not have air conditioning*. Climate controlled suites do. The prices are posted on their website (different for students and others). Please take a look. Standard suites and climate controlled suites look very different. Make sure you get that information. This place is great in terms of value for money but you have to put up with the cleanliness levels of other flatmates (which might not be a bad experience).

I was helping a friend move out. Staff seemed nice. It looks pretty suitable for lower year students and for use as a hotel, but the rooms and common rooms are very small so I wouldn't want to live there myself.

It's a nice and clean place with professional staff and a good interior look.

This is my second summer at tartu. Room is in great locale to get down to research at utoronto libraries. Office staff keep everyone informed about events in posted notices. Front desk staff are there 24/7 and always helpful, especially with the summer student groups who come to learn english — perhaps often their first time away from home? — and cleaning staff do a terrific job. Very rarely an occasional slob, and the office helps with this. Quiet clean considerate place to stay. Worth every penny.

I lived in Tartu College for 3 years. Tartu has witnessed my growth and a lot of memories. Tartu College staff are helpful, friendly, and most importantly, they genuinely care about the residents. The night when I moved out in May, 2017, a dramatic story happened to me — I almost lost my backpack, in which there was my passport, wallet, and laptop… Tartu staff and manager tried their best to help me. I couldn't imagine how desperate I would be without their help! Thank you, TARTU staff. Your help is greatly appreciated!

If it was possible to give 0/5 stars I would. The place is overpriced; with virtually nothing to offer. Sure, it's a great location — but that's about it. My friend and I shared a unit with 4 other individuals. We had 1 1/2 bathrooms, to share amongst 6 adults. Half of the time one or both toilets were clogged (which we were continuously harassed about by Tartu staff). The one shower drain was also clogged frequently, causing water to back up in the tub. There was no A/C so the early fall was insufferable. And there were cockroaches crawling everywhere. To make the pest problem worse, the pantries were small and were always warm, causing food to rot rapidly. There is no access to Wi-Fi. And if you buy a router for your room, you will have your internet access revoked. It happened to me, and it made studying very difficult. The staff was rude, at best. Tartu management would harass you; one day I was in my room and had management bang on my door. Upon opening it, the male manager confronted me and insisted I tell him how the toilets got clogged. As a single female, alone, I found this both inappropriate and unnecessarily intimidating. I told him I did not understand how the toilets kept getting clogged, at which point he claimed if this was an ongoing issue our unit would be collectively charged. Also, if the kitchen is deemed too "messy" for the cleaning staff (which you have no option to opt out of) they will charge your entire unit.

People working here sure know to make your life miserable. You can't move out just like that even if you really need to. They make you find a replacement even though they say they have 100s of people waiting to take up their place. There is no ventilation at all. It's like living in a dungeon. Toilet and bathroom not cleaned properly. Life in tartu sucks. I wish I could give 0 star. But I'm bound to give 1 star. So there it is.

Cheap, but small room, shared space. Ok for a while.
