Absolutely amazing experience. The Anchors Away show on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8 are a must see! One of the most impressive musical/comedy displays I've ever seen. This place is a Newfoundland gem. Just make sure to get seats really early (around 6pm) since the show is popular enough for the entire bar to fill up hours before the show!

We loved the Anchor pub at the ocean view hotel. We visited on a Tuesday night for the kitchen party and had lots of fun. We got screeched in and did some dancing and singing. You could order food up until 8pm and drinks until midnight. The kitchen party entertainment was excellent and the staff was friendly as well.

Good food, great service, and welcoming and quality entertainment at the anchor pub. Cod for screeching in is a real cod, not plastic. We went for the kitchen party and had a great time.

This is a Boutique hotel. Great showers good friendly service and beautiful view. Beds are good and place is immaculate. Great stay after a day of hard hiking. There are a few shops around but not many. A restaurant next door that is not that great. Better to eat in the hotel. They have gluten free bread.

Great spot. Nice rooms, great views. Take in the Kitchen Party in the pub or try the fancier dining room. We'd return!

It was amazing. We’ve slept for two nights at Ocean’s View Motel. We had free breakfasts and explored across northwest of Newfoundland.

We had supper and then attended the Anchors Aweigh show. The food was very greasy pub fare and my beer fish and chips had only one small piece of cod fillet hidden under a ton of deep fried breading. Service was OK.

Went to the restaurant for dinner and the food was great! Great view too.

Really nice place very clean the beds are so comfortable I slept like a log the staff are also very nice they will go out of there way to help you. And they also have a great view of the harbour.

Spacious rooms, clean. Quiet due to being out of season. Great breakfast, but be prepared to wait a while.

Good place to stay. Nice view from any room and porches off each room. Make sure you don't shut the door though because the room key only opens the hall door not the patio. Awesome breakfast. Worth getting a suite for the included breakfast (order from the menu).

The hotel was clean, quiet and the room had everything I needed. Because of the low season, the restaurant served Continental breakfasts only but they were made complimentary so who am I to complain? The dinner was only available for very limited hours but everything I ordered was very good. Except for the chowder that was great.

Charming hotel right at the ocean. Beautiful views. Cute shops. Friendly accommodating staff. Quiet environment. Just an overall cozy cute place to stay. Close proximity to amazing hiking in gros morne national park. I suggest taking a boat tour and consider hiring guides to hike. They provide details that really explain the environment your seeing and experiencing. Plan for weather of all kinds when you are out and about. Just a beautiful place to be. Thankful I had the opportunity to come here and hope to be able to do it again one day.

Rooms are great and the staff are wonderful. Sunset from the balcony off the dining room is unparalleled. Food was good.

The location is perfect for getting to amenities and restaurants. The view of the ocean from the balconies is amazing!

My brothers and I visited your pub this evening and while the food was very good, the gentlemen who served us was very gruff and inattentive. The wait for the food was long and he never came back to the table to see how we liked the food. I for one was finished my beer before the food came and was never asked if I wanted another, in fact, he never came back to the table at all… because no one came back to the table, when we finished dinner we went to the bar and paid our bills. I would have had another beer or two but no staff seemed interested in serving us anything. I guess your establisjmemt doesn't need the money… anyway, as I said, the food was good… the service terrible… we definitely didn't feel welcomed. I will not be back.

Restaurant food ranged from decent to delicious. Staff were friendly and service was generally quick. Pub service was slow, but food was quite good.

We stayed here for 2 nights in July on our tour of Western Newfoundland. The double queen room was big enough for my sister and I and all of our stuff. Friendly staff and great location. My only complaint is that they could have given the guests free coffee since we could not make it in our rooms when Hydro decided to have a power outage on a Sunday morning.

Best place in Rocky Harbour to stay. Rooms are great, staff are wonderful people view is amazing! The food in the Pub and Dining room is soooo good. I just can't say enough good things about this place. The entertainment with Anchors Aweigh was the best. We have been here 4 times in the last 9 years and also go to the show!

Nice rooms updated modern good linens. Nice bathroom. No frig or microwave in room. Some rooms have a view. Wi-Fi is slow.

We did not sleep over, however lunch was superb, the staff friendly and the food excellently fresh. The food was served quickly and the Chef made it pleasantly tasty. This restaurant compares well with any Mediterranean seafood restaurant.

The staff were amazing! Very accommodating. The Anchors Aweigh show is a must see. The upstairs dining room was delightful and the Pub fare was great as well!

My experience with the hotel desk staff was very friendly. However the Wi-Fi service was not good. It was off more times than on. On the last night of our stay the power went off. We awoke to freezing cold rooms as the weather had turned very cold and snowy outside. This I understood as the staff had no control of the nasty weather. However, one of our friends came to tell us that we could get a warm breakfast in the dining room because they had gas stoves. Great I thought. We rushed up the stairs to the dining room to see about 10 to 15 people enjoying a great breakfast but we were told that it was 10:05 so we were out of luck. They had stopped service at ten. On a normal day I could understand this but this was no normal day. Newfoundland hospitality out the door! Could not believe that anyone would refuse to feed a group of people that had to leave and travel over slushy roads for two hours. Cold, hungry, and very upset with the service we paid our bill and left. Needless to say, I will not stay there again.

Clean rooms with view of waterfront.

The rooms and staff are lovely. The view is beautiful! However we were there on a weekend when the hotel roof was being renovated! When we checked in on the friday we expressed our concerns but we're told they wouldn't be doing any construction over the Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately, this was not the case. There was excessive noise and banging until 9 that night and then it started up again at 7 am the next morning. Not very relaxing for our honeymoon holiday! But the front desk tried to make it right afterwards.

"Complimentary Super High-Speed Wi-Fi" — that is the hotel’s exact phrasing, posted on their homepage and highlighted first as their main feature. Nothing can be further from the actual truth. My first mistake was choosing a hotel that makes free Wi-Fi an actual feature, this is 2015 and free Wi-Fi should be a give-in. But this is backwards Newfoundland after all and I needed decent Wi-Fi for making calls (since Rogers service is non-existent here) and for trip planning…honestly, dial-up internet is faster and more reliable than this BS Wi-Fi. Yes, dial-up. Beyond that, we paid extra for a “semi-ocean view room. ” Well, if you like to see a parking lot, a stop sign and a liquor store when you look outside your hotel window, then this is the place for you! This isn’t the first time that I’ve experienced hotels here that advertise something (e. G. A pool) then say that it’s 'undergoing construction'… Buyer beware, IF YOU CAN, SEE THE HOTEL PREMISES IN PERSON FIRST BEFORE YOU BOOK when traveling in Newfoundland. Good luck…

We had a three nights stay at this facility. There were several disappointments that reduced the rating to 'just okay'. The room we had was sparsely furnished, a double bed, a dresser and two kitchen type hard back chairs and no chairs on the balcony overlooking the harbour. By the location of the reading lamps on the wall the room at one time must have contained two double beds. Our friends in the room next door had nice a comfortable chair! Two chairs did appear on our balcony on the third day of our stay. The furniture is past it's 'best before' date and needs an upgrade! On night one and night three we tried to dine in the main dining room and were turned away despite empty tables even when we tried to make a reservation. The reason given was that they were expecting a tour group in and the cook could not accommodate us even though we were looking at a seating time an hour before the group was expected. While we complained to the front desk we were assured this should not have happened but there was no attempt by management to right the situation except an apology as we checked out. Night two we bought tickets to the Anchors Aweigh show, the house band in the pub. The $28 per person cover charge seemed excessive. However, on a bright note, the band was excellent and provided a very entertaining evening. We had dinner in the pub prior to the show, standard pub fare.
