Review of The Fairmont Winnipeg 4*

Absolutely Horrible experience! Flew up for a funeral in Winnipeg. The room was clean, bathroom size of a postage stamp! This LUXURY hotel didn't even have a fan in the bathroom! Heater rattled in the room and kept us up all night! A conference was on in the hotel with a late night party/dance that thundered into the room till the wee hours. Went down the hall to get some ice and found the ice machine to be broken. Hotel staff should have place partygoers in the rooms closest to the event so that they would not be disturbed but would be at the event instead. Very poor planning! Went down to the business center to confirm plane tickets. The business center consisted of a wobbly old table with a pre-war fax machine and computer. Of course the computer did not work, went back twice to book tickets to no avail! Family invited us to the Club floor for coffee. Which was great except for the fact that there was nothing more than an empty pot and no one there to refill it! Probably the only "Luxury Hotel" in the world to offer Double beds instead of Queens or Kings. Management was apologetic but gave no reasons for their errors in judgement or lack of amenities/service. I was actually in amazement at the lack of conviction and pride among management. I've been all over the world and for a $250+ price per night I expect perfection. Not necessarily with the staff as we are all human but with the amenities and features of the hotel. For that price they had darn well better be in place. Nothing in a room should ever be broken, missing, or not working properly. My recommendation if you're thinking about the Fairmont. Head to a Motel 6 instead.
