Bell 2 has been on my bucket list, and I guess my expectations were too high. My favourite part about Bell 2 is the surroundings. Although the staff were friendly, and tried to be helpful, it wasn't until the manager stepped in (who is awesome by the way) that a generous gesture was made to make up for the issues we faced. This place is way overpriced for the services and amenities offered. Due to COVID-19, many of the amenities such as the Sauna were closed, and yet full price is still charged. Food was take out only and was not gross, and pretty good for the most part, but was sorely lacking in areas. It was definitely not worth the price charged. On that note, make sure you let them know the day of your arrival whether you require food or not. Communication was sorely lacking, and not timely. Rooms did not have a fridge or microwave which is standard in even the cheapest motel rooms. Although there is Wi-Fi, only 1 hour is included for free and after that it is $10.00 per hour or $6.00 per half hour. There is no cell or network service, it is off grid and the connection is extremely slow. I had to scramble to contact those I needed and used up most of my time just trying to connect. Someone left their tool bag outside of our room and freshly wacked weeds were all over the walkway. We awoke at 8 am to the sound of helicopters and chainsaws due to them prepping logs on the property. Considering there are no other options in the area, we are grateful for a roof over our head, food to eat and a place to fuel up. We are also fortunate that we brought a memory foam topper with us, as the spring mattress did not seem that comfortable. However, if you can make the drive, you will find suitable accommodations either in Stewart or in Smithers for a far cheaper price. COVID-19 aside, Bell 2 caters to guests with deep pockets. We appreciate the hospitality, but will not stay here again.
