Fantastic place! Stunning.

We’ve just got back from our honeymoon at CML and can honestly say we didn’t want to leave! The location is perfect with chairs and a fire pit on the river providing peaceful romantic evenings even when it gets cold! The cabins are very comfortable and well appointed and the open log fire makes it warm and romantic and is always cleaned out and reset daily by the housekeeping team along with the rest of the cabin. The staff are incredibly polite and helpful and did everything they could to make our stay as stress free as possible. The restaurant provides true restaurant-quality food and I can honestly say that the meal we had on our last night there was one of the best meals I’ve had anywhere in a long time! Whatever your reason for visiting Canada CML is a wonderful experience and gives you easy access to some of the most amazing countryside — even Banff is only an hour’s drive away and the historic town of Field is a 5 minute drive!

We had to change date due to bad weather — staff couldn’t have been more helpful — rearranged booking at no charge — had lovely meal and also very pleased with our cabin — first class!

It's not what I expected. Completely overpriced for what we got. Positives: Staff are great! Food is excellent Lovely log fires You can take advantage of free boat hire at their sister lodge on Moraine lake which was the highlight Negatives: It's right next to Highway 1 which is busy with trucks and the noise is quite spectacular… ruins the peaceful scene the hotel is trying to set The king "deluxe" room is so cramped. The walls are paper thin so you can here what's happening in the room next to you. The bathroom door is not really a door… The bed was super creaky despite the staff trying to fix it… Sadly it was the most disappointing of all the accomodation we had in Canada…

Myself and my husband’s honeymoon adventure traveling the Canadian Rocky Mountains concluded with a two night stay in the Cathedral Mountain Lodge. As we had just spent a night in their sister hotel, we didn’t think that this property could match the wonderfulness of the Moraine Lake Lodge. The property is set against the back drop of cascading mountains and the most beautiful Kicking Horse River. Cabin accommodation is set within the landscape and really gives the feeling of being in the Canadian wilderness. Our cosy cabin with an open fire and balcony was the definition of luxury. As we sat by the open fire toasting s’mores alongside the kicking horse river, we watched the sun setting over the Rocky Mountains. Our Canada experience ended with a cosy, romantic evening in our cabin to the backdrop of a thunder storm. We reluctantly left Cathedral Mountain Lodge with wonderful honeymoon memories and the promise to return soon!

Amazing lodge tucked away at the base of Cathedral mountain. A perfect getaway from Calgary, close enough to drive, but far enough to feel like an adventure. The lodge is surrounded by amazing views and hiking trails. The cabins are beautifully decorated and clean with beautiful patios to enjoy. The main lodge has an incredible restaurant for dinner and a perfect buffet breakfast. Service during dinner was exceptional. Truly a hidden gem. Your stay includes complimentary canoeing on Morraine lake which was a huge bonus (if you’re willing to make the drive). I highly recommend for a weekend getaway or to celebrate a special occasion.

By far and away, the BEST log cabin experience in Canada. Just simply, amazing and stunning. S'mores at the camp fire by the river surrounded by beautiful mountains was the best!

Had an amazing stay here. Very calm and close to the river where you have a firepit where you can enjoy some smores (they sell smores kits but they are quite pricey (10$ for 4 marshmallows, 8 crackers and 8 tiny chocolates) ). However the lodges are cosy and clean only downside was that the beds on the top floor are hard to reach and we didn't feel safe using the ladder. The staff is very kind and helpful. Breakfast and Dinner are great too! The location is pretty remote so when you want to visit stuff it usually takes some time driving, but this gives you the quietness.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. Quaint cabins with unlimited firewood. Top shelf restaurant and very friendly and helpful staff. We had the time of our lives at cathedral mountain lodge. Been to banff a few times and this was by far the best stay we've had. And, they give you free breakfast too!

The room is beautiful, the bed is large and comfortable. No TVs and no fridge in the rooms, but there are outlets to charge things. And despite being in the mountains, the Wi-Fi is not bad! The food is incredible at the restaurant, and they provide breakfast and tea time with your stay. The place is so cozy, and the area is beautiful.

Really limited internet which was perfect for unwinding. Scenic outlook from main lodge looking over the Kicking Horse River. Breakfast in the lodge was satisfying and tasty (eggs, bacon, sausages, crepes etc). Supper was delicious and convenient. Staff were AMAZING! Everything we could have wanted was taken care of for us. We look forward to going back again and again for anniversaries and would love to go back more often than that. We loved it and if you are looking for a relaxed wedding experience, this is the place for you!

The chalet on the edge of the canyon turbulence, the original quaint but contains modern facilities and services, the experience is very touching.

Nice lodges, but expensive for what it is. Afternoon tea and the fire pit in the evening were the highlights. Actual accomodation is cosy, but quite small and our bathroom door wouldn't close.

For the cost I expected a larger room and NOT sharing a common wall where you can hear your neighbours. Also we did not expect it to be located between to highways — expected more of an out in the woods location. However, the rooms were beautifully decoratwd in an authentic classy cabin style and the king bed was very comfortable. You need to request the outdoor porch lights to be turned off by the staff turning the lightbulb off however or the light will keep you up at night. The restaurant is very cozy and beautifully decorated with a nice fireplace and the food is delicious. They also set out warm homemade cookies with coffee and tea from 3-5 pm. If the price was about $350 with tax instead of $500 with tax I would have given it 5 stars.

Beautiful scenery nearby and amazing accomodations. So many things that I didn't even realize were here, and they are unbelievable to see. If you are planning a stay, I would recommend going into Field to eat at the Truffle Pigs rather than eating at the CML restaurant — the food is better, and also less expensive. Overall, great time. Hoping to come back someday.

We had our elopement package at Cathedral Mountain lodge the weekend of July 29th. First off all the staff are absolutely wonderful! The cabins are amazing and very quaint, there is no TV for distractions which is great. Me and my wife played cards on the front porch enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Cathedral mountain lodge is a 5 minute drive from field and is in a great location. We got married on the edge of river and it was beautiful, after we had dinner at the lodge. The tenderloin was absolutely delicious. The staff even kept serving us drinks past closing time because of the wedding. The breakfast buffet provided is wonderful with fresh fruit and delicious pancakes or egg sandwiches. Overall we had a wonderful stay and enjoyed every minute at Cathedral Mountain lodge.

Cozy lodge, ceiling fans in rooms, great amenities, super wonderful staff. The restaurant is excellent.

Our family loves this place. A must stay every trip out west. Camp fires by the river, tea time and our own private log cabin. The staff is always happy to help and very friendly. The food was also 5!

We purchased the elopement package and had a few issues. Our biggest concern was we did not realize we would not have a private lodge. The pictures on the site show individual cabins we assumed we would get with our package. After just being married we would have even payed extra for privacy and a larger cabin or not have booked here at all had we known we would be connected and heard through walls. You would think an elopement package would have a large honeymoon suit but the reality is the deluxe king cabin was the smallest offered. This would have especially been an important detail to know after telling them we have an 11 month old son staying with us. We were constantly worried about his volume disrupting the other people in the cabin. I wouldn't recommend bringing children of any age to the lodge at all. There are not even high chairs in dining room. The staff tried their best to accommodate us but it was very difficult. You will have to request and pay extra for a boutinerr but both the bouquet and boutinerr were of excellent quality. The food was outstanding in all respects. Overall I would not recommend the elopment package but it is a beautiful spot with great food if you are just looking for a couples weekend away.

I really wanted to like this place. The cabin and main lodge appeared beautiful at first but the shine quickly faded. I would like to warn anyone considering staying here. What the beautiful pictures on the website fail to reveal is the close proximity of the resort to the highway/railroad. The highway is so incredibly close so you will hear a great deal traffic. (We are used to the busy city traffic and it was noticeable) We were less than enthusiastic that our cabin was 5 small steps to the parking lot. The windows of our cabin faced directly into the parking lot so we could not have both natural lighting and privacy. We heard every single car start and door slam. To make matters worse, the cabin had paper thin walls. We had the pleasure of hearing every cough, footstep, conversation, toilet flush, and romp of our neighbours. I would like to make it transparent that it was not that our neighbours were incredibly loud… the issue was very clearly the cabin. I cannot express in words how awkward, embarrassing, and uncomfortable this was. We ended up not spending a great deal of time in the accommodations we spent a great deal on. We made the best of our poor experience at cathedral mountain lodge by hiking and exploring the surrounding towns/areas. There are other beautiful options that are not overpriced and disappointing. I would highly recommend steering clear of this place.

We loved it and didn't want to leave. We had our wedding on the beach and everything was taken care of for us — even the things we didn't realise needed taking care of! I cannot recommend enough Cathedral MTN Lodge if you are looking for a place to get married or just unplug and relax. All the staff are so friendly and relaxed and go above and beyond.

Log cabins with a special in the Rocky Mountains inceibles charm.

After reading two mediocre reviews, I felt compelled to put in my two cents. I stayed at CML over the summer (June 2015) and had a very memorable experience. Upon arriving we were taken immediately to our cabin, which was extremely clean (#27). It was also equipped with a spare rollaway bed for an extra person that was traveling with us. (Wow, they actually remembered! ) Our cabin was on the edge of the woods, which I liked because it was very quiet. I heard very little road noise from the interstate. What we did occasionally hear was the dull, low hum of diesel engines powering over the mountain pass from the Canadian National Railroad. Being a train buff, I found that extremely romantic. We actually found a trail up to the tracks (which was quite a vigorous hike) and we able to observe the trains at close range-very exciting! The nearby town of Field has a few desirable restaurants with complete menus. All meals are served at the inn, though, and the chef during our stay was so accommodating! Our one guest was a vegetarian, so we requested a vegan selection at every meal sitting and what the kitchen created for us was tasteful, inventive, colorful and delicious. One night I had a duck confit with gnocchi that knocked my socks off! Sure, I'll admit that CML charges between $300-$400 a night for a cabin but when you take into consideration that breakfast is included, I think it's a fair price.

Stayed at Emerald Lake but went over to Cathedral Mountain Lodge for breakfast a couple of times for a change. BEAUTIFUL setting in the midst of towering peaks and rushing river, with tall trees all around the log building. Bright, warm and delightful dining room with high vaulted ceiling, tall windows and french windows, mountain/creek view, lots of natural light, huge stone wood-burning fireplace, and elegant furniture and decorations. One of the most beautiful dining rooms I've seen in the Canadian Rockies. Staff were very kind and breakfast buffet was excellent. Nice selection of breakfast meat, eggs, cheese, potatoes, cereal, bread, pastries, fruits and drinks.

Overrated and nothing like the description on the website. Situated right alongside of the TransCanada highway so all you hear is highway noise. Cabin in Jasper was nicer at less than half the price.

The vast majority of our stay was wonderful. My wife and I were married on the river (after several booking mixups, and a large amount of confusion that the manager did not seem to want to help resolve), and spent a good amount of time walking around and enjoying Field, just down the road. The cabin was cozy, however not very private if you wanted any form of natural light. The wood left in the cabin for us to have a fire and any form of heat was fairly wet, causing constant very loud cracking and not staying lit through the night. The several times we had to be served by the manager, we felt horribly belittled and felt like we were not worthy of the stay. We also had to review our bill at the end of our stay to remove almost 40% in additional charges that were either mistakes or something we did not receive. The incredibly cheerful and helpful staff otherwise (Glenn, William, Shea, and the others we did not get the names of unfortunately) made our stay worthwhile and memorable, however, we will be saving this as a scenic pointe as opposed to accomodation in the future.

Cathedral Mountain Lodge is simply put "Heaven on Earth". It is the most peaceful, beautiful, relaxing lodge I have ever been to in my life and I've travelled alot. The management is top notch and your every need is met within minutes. The food at the Lodge is Five Star in my opinion. If you want to see the most beautiful mountains, relax in luxuary, eat delicious food and experience "Heaven on Earth" then book yourself a cabin at Cathedral Mountain Lodge. No, I don't have any invested interest in the Lodge other than going there as often as I possibly can.
