Room was clean and cozy. The shower was a little tricky, but after a week of hard hiking and camping it felt great. The lodge is close to a ton of work class trails and 15 minutes from lake Louise. The staff was friendly and attentive, also knowledgeable about the surrounding area. Best part was the food! Me and my dad ate dinner there twice (only stayed one night) and were more than happy with our meals and desserts.

Terrible. Other then the bartender the staff didn’t care about their guests. The rooms have paper thin walls. No air conditioning, elevator, hairdryer in the room, poor quality towels… This room should have been in the $75 range tops, but they charged us over $300 for 1 night stay. Shameful! Stay clear of this dump!

The location is great. Great view. The place is so old and accualy not a hotel. It's a hotel when it's off season. On the ski season it's an accommodation for ski employees. The people was nice but a $120 per night? Too much for what we getting. At the end it was ok… we ate in the restaurant and it was pretty bad… I don't think I will go back again… ok experience.

Very laid back place to go, waitress is always super friendly and remembers names and drink orders. If you're looking for a high end place to go out, I wouldn't say it is here. I find the food inexpensive and really good! I recommend trying their smore dessert if you ever get the chance. I don't even like Smores, but holy man it's delicious!

Have stayed here a couple of times now. It's the only place to stay in quite a long stretch of road really so we visited more as a necessity! The first time was heading towards Lake Louise (always exorbitantly expensive! ) and we stayed in one of the bunk rooms out the back. Luckily we got it to ourselves as no-one else arrived. Most recently we spent a couple of nights here as we were visiting (the incredible) Lake O'Hara. The price was higher than I remembered, and we were put in a small room that was vibrating with the noise of the generator outside. We asked the girl at the reception if there was a chance we could move and she was helpful in getting us an upgrade to a quieter, larger, lakeview room without the generator hum, which was fantastic. The restaurant downstairs serves interesting options… our server was really friendly though, so overall a good stay at The Great Divide.

Driving past my young child needed to go to the bathroom. Thought I was fortunate to have somewhere so we didn't need to use the bushes. The sign out front said no public washrooms, but I hoped they would make an exception for a small child. Nope. 2 km through construction traffic to the next rest stop wasn't an option. Good thing their bushes were accommodating.

It is what it is… an older lodge with lots of character, aged but clean rooms and a really friendly staff. Big surprise… an amazing meal (gourmet quality) on the patio with a great view.

Better than expected. Clean and comfortable place to rest while visiting Yoho. Bed was comfortable. Walls a bit thin, so light sleepers will want earplugs. Very basic continental breakfast. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Very convenient accommodation. The room was clean and comfortable. The dining experience at the restaurant was very good; we got 2 desserts on the house because we had to wait longer before making our order.

I was passing by in our travels and went into the main entrance to use the washroom and possibly eat at 11 AM and was told I was not able to go inside because I was not a guest. This was during forest fires on Hwy, as well as heavy road construction. I was traveling with children and a pregnant wife. I was denied washroom use and told to go to hwy and use it. This experience dampered my opinion of this establisment. A little customer service would have encouraged me to visit this establisment and spend my money there. However, I would not dare waste my time or money here in the future.

The lodge is a small lovely and rustic little place. The rooms are small, yet comfortable and the beds are soft. The staff really makes it, they are all lovely people and very helpful. The bar is open as long as you want to drink and they have a billiards table! Don't forget the free coffee, tea, and breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

Bright and friendly staff! Awesome place to get away to right in the middle of the action without feeling like you're in the middle of a tourist trap! Amazing views, wonderful staff and a great place to stay! I can't wait to come back for a longer stay next time!

Our vehicle broke down and we were able to get it to the Great Divide Lodge and the employees were amazing to us. They let us use their front desk phone for many phone calls for the tow truck, family, accommodations, etc since there was no cell service. On top of this, when the shuttle to Lake Louis stopped and immediately left as we were about to get on, the lady working the front desk called someone she knew to drive some of us for free to Lake Louis since the tow truck could only carry 2 of the 6 of us. Would recommend this place simply because of the friendliness of the workers to everyone they meet!

Great location for hikers to Sherbrooke Lake, Paget lookout and Wapta Lake.

The food was really good but they were out of half of the mains on the menu. I lucked out and got the last shepherd's pie; it was delicious. The view here is spectacular.

Nice quaint place. Rooms look bit dated but nicely kept. Food I ordered for dinner was great.

Bunk beds in the room. Pretty good hotel for the location. Continental free breakfast is not bad: pastries, hot chocolate, coffee, tea, juices, and oatmeal. Bed is just okay. Bathroom is also okay. They do provide plenty of towels and shower amenities, which was a huge plus. Free Wi-Fi is good, but resets connection once in a short while.

What a gem! Lovely little lodge, approximately 15 minutes' drive from Lake Louise. Great price-quality ratio, especially after astronomical prices charged in Banff. The lodge has both ensuite accommodation and hostel dorms. All very clean and tastefully though simply appointed. Exactly what you need after a long day's hike. Restaurant has a short list of hearty dishes that they do very well. Breakfast is included in the room rate. Staff very nice. Million dollar view onto lake and mountains, and every so often you can even watch a train pass by. It doesn't get any more Canadian Rockies than this. The lake view rooms may be a bit noisy since they also face the road, so if you want quiet ask for the back forest view.

Expensive place to enjoy the sights and sounds of the freeway. Poor restaurant.

We had the buffet, Putin and wings. Everything tasted good. Our server was very nice.

It's right infront of wapta lake. Nice view indeed. Small rooms as compared to what they charged us.

INCREDIBLE We were driving home from Alberta and ran out of gas in the parking lot. The gas station was closed. The staff opened the gas station for us! I can't say enough. Thank you for being there when we needed you! Highly recommended!

We love the great Divide Lodge! It's cozy, the room is comfy and clean. The staff is amazing and very accommodating. We had a forest view suite for two adults and four kids and it was perfect. We hung out in the comfy games room and chilled by the fire after a great meal at their restaurant. We will definitely be staying here again!

We love the Great Divide Lodge. We came for the first time last year and have stayed here a few times since. It's cozy, quiet, great restaurant in the hotel and very close to the ski hill. The staff is fantastic! We really like the comfy lounge room. Where you can curl up on comfy couches at the end of the day in front of a crackling fire. Would highly recommend if you like a cozy lodge type!

Completely disappointed with the staff. I called two months ago, to book for the weekend in feb. I called today to double check and my room was taken and now there is no room for us. I changed the dates right after I first booked it, and the girl only booked it for one day in the middle of the week and I never got a email saying the dates were changed or I would of caught this mistake earlier. Completely ruined our family winter vacation. Staff had no symptom and did not care about their mistakes at all. WILL NEVER recommenced this lodge to anymore. More then pissed about this, Was very excited to have a few days of snowboarding now everywheres is booked. Pissed.

It's great. Not fancy but very friendly with great food.

Cheap and cheerful hostel, great if you just want to ride and are on a budget, middle of nowhere though and is located over the border in BC where the drinking age is 19. Advise you bring your own transport as is 20 minutes to the village and about an hour to Banff. There is a free shuttle to and from the hill during the day but if you want to go out in the evening you're a bit screwed as there is literally one single taxi in lake Louise. Staff are really nice and friendly though and will usually be up for a party with you! Foods pretty good too.

This is a rather pricey budget stay that could certainly do better. Forest View room is really propane-tank view, floor constantly vibrates, alarm clock with no batteries, restaurant menu is incorrect and posted special at wrong price. Fail after fail that could easily be avoided. Management must be oblivious because these are basics. I've stayed in $50 motels that operate better. You can't even get bread or bagel for continental breakfast, only offerings are coffee, muffin and an orange. Clean room is the only nice thing I can say.

Very disappointed for the price I'm paying. Booked this room over 3 months ago expecting to have a nice forest view but instead I'm in the only room looking out to a steal box. In the restaurant, they advertise for a wing beer special for $12 but instead change $12.75+ and don't accommodate for non-beer drinkers. Also advertise they have ciders but yet they don't carry one cider. On top of all this, you can hear the person in the next room every time they move in their bed… kept me up all night. Almost spending $200/night you'd think they would fix some of these simple problems.

Absolutely lovely place! My boyfriend and I stayed here back in April for a night while skiing Lake Louise and we are hoping to stay again on our trip to Vancouver. Although it is an older building everything was very clean and the staff are super friendly! Our room had nice hardwood flooring, a clean & fully functional bathroom, a TV with lots of channels for down time, and even free Wi-Fi. We got lucky and had a room looking out to the lake & mountains which were absolutely stunning. Our room faced the highway, which was right outside the hotel, but we hardly noticed any noise at all. I would definitely stay here again. On my way out to Alberta I stayed at the Fairmont Lake Louise and I honestly had a better sleep at the Great Divide Lodge. The beds were so much more comfortable here surprisingly :)
