Review of Candlewood Suites West Edmonton - Mall Area, an IHG Hotel 3*

The hotel is located near a Walmart and other strip malls. There are also a number of restaurants in the area. Unfortunately the hotel is located on a busy one way street, so it can be tricky to get in and out The hotel itself is new, and very clean. The rooms were spacious, but not as large as some suites I've stayed in. The TV was large and positioned well. The bed was very comfortable and the climate control worked great. Overall the room was awesome. I have two bad impressions of the hotel that brought down my rating. First is the front desk staff. They always seem preoccupied. When asked where a corner store was, we were given vague directions to a store that was closed for construction. In another instant, a employee was clearly talking to family member in Punjabi and was unable to get off the phone to answer a question. We left the lobby and came back 5 minutes later to the employee still being on the phone. The internet in the hotel was also lacking. I often had to turn Wi-Fi off on my phone to get a basic webpage to load. When getting updates on my laptop it was painfully slow capping at 400kb/s a second. I've never had a hotel with this slow of internet and I travel a lot. When I attempted to call the front desk on 3 different occasions to see if there was something that could be fixed, the phone was never answered. The short and the sweet. Rooms are great, clean and comfy. *****Manager personally called me an hour after my review to correct any problems. He was very concerned, courteous and professional. After the phone call I had, I would recommend and return to Candlewood Suites.
