The hotel is okay, fella a bit old and worn at places, but still clean and tolerable. There’s definitely better value-price options in town. What was extremely frustrating about our stay is the staff on the reception. We had some problem (that occurred because of the staff mistake), and the reception seemed not to care too much about us. Even after several reminders and a number of talked nothing seemed to be done. We were just fed with another “will take a look at this and come back” time after time. In the end nothing was done and we were forced to leave frustrated. I would definitely recommend to go for some other place in town, if you have options.

We're a family of 4, two teens. We had a king sized bed and pullout sofa, and kitchen. The room was okay but lacking in some of the basics, 1 plate, 3 glasses, 2 mugs. Had to chase for bedding and pillows for the pullout as well as towels. It's a nice place but staying to show heavy visitation. Breakfast was great, Lorna the hostess was super personable and very helpful. I would stay again, it's a good location, I'd probably just ask up front that they make sure the room has ammenities promised.

We hosted our son and daughter-in-law’s brunch the morning after their wedding that was held at Cornerstone Theatre. Aaron, the Food and Beverage Manager of the Wind Tower, went above and beyond to offer a hot buffet to our wedding guests with private use of The Wind Tower Patio and restaurant. It was the perfect ending to a perfect weekend. Thank you so much. With much appreciation, Stanton and Stacey.

This hotel tries so hard to make it a great experience! Fair size room, comfy bed, large bathroom. A few extras that this hotel does that I've never seen before: freshly baked COOKIES in the room (they're so delicious)! MAKEUP REMOVING WIPES (as a woman, I appreciate this thought so much! ). Even those two made my experience so much better. Yummy breakfast.

Great location. Was here for a wedding. Several people including the bride and groom where staying here. Nice rooms. Clean and spacious. Nice outdoor hot tubs in courtyard.

Found this place on a cheap deal site. Little did I know that the rooms they rent out on the budget sites were add-on suites. Photos are deceiving. The room was so small, but it worked. I would go back here but I felt the ad was deceiving to online photos and reviews. ALSO a very important note, parking is not included. There is a paid parking area or can park on the road if you can find a spot. I'm sure this is a problem on a sold out weekend. AMAZING breakfast included that makes your stay worth with while!

Extremely disappointing. The 'Standard King size' room was an awkward shape bedroom that was part of a suite… with the garbage bins outside the window and facing the area that the staff go out to smoke! Paper thin walls… we could hear the conversation of the occupants in the 'suite'. The room was unbearably hot and could only cool it down by opening both windows all night… but then listened to the traffic! The Hot Tub is only accessible by going outside and is very small. To top everything off, our credit card was changed twice. Very unsatisfactory response when I tried calling the Hotel to speak to them after getting home. We will not return or recommend this place to others!

Front desk isn't too friendly however the rooms are very clean, the common areas are also very clean. Restaurant downstairs Is clean and the food is good. Would definitely stay here again.

Not Happy. Website said hotel is dog friendly. What they do not tell you is you pay per dog. Parking cost extra. Found pubic hair on our top bed sheet. The lady at the front reception was less then courteous. Definitely the last time we stay at the windtower lodge.

We have stayed at Windtower several times and always found it very comfortable, well supplied with towels, blankets, sheets and dishes, and all appliances working well. It was also generally very clean and tidy. This time however, we had to ask for more dishes, sheets and had to have someone come to reset the fireplace. We also found that the toilet was not flushing properly and we ended up with it flooding the bathroom. This was late in the evening and we then had to wait until 12:30am before anyone came. The dishwasher was very noisy and took far too long even for a short cycle. The microwave ended up burning our popcorn as well. The room was not as clean as it should have been. We found leftover popcorn in the bedroom and candy under the sofa. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and the food was quite good. We especially appreciated the complimentary coffee and the lemon and lime water always available. There needs to be upgrades all around and some rethinking about parking fees and improving the hot tub.

We had a suite with kitchen and washer dryer, we liked it. Note that it is outside of BANFF.

The location was good. The parking was limited unless you wanted to pay for underground parking which in my opinion if you're paying as much as we did for a room parking should be complimentary. The walls were thin so we did get a house complaint which is fair we were a bit loud but if the walls weren't so thin and rooms weren't so close for being suites it wouldn't have been that bad. Average service. Concierge couldn't even provide playing cards for us. Bed was uncomfortable. Shower was small. Overall I won't go back.

Don't be fooled by the outside of this building. The balconies and wooden beams are distracting. The staff were extremely rude to my husband upon arrival. We had our kayaks on the back of our truck and were told if we brought them to our room we would be fined. (That's okay we understand) we walked into our room that was maybe the size of a postage stamp. Stepped over our bags all weekend because there's no place to put them. The bathroom was so gross we showered with our sandals on. We looked in the bed before we went to sleep and ended up at the front desk in our PJs asking for new sheets. My husbands pillow had blood on it and our bed was absolutely FULL of hair. There was also dirty Kleenex on a shelf in the closet. Not impressed, will not be coming back.

Decent hotel in Canmore for a quick stay. I stayed at this hotel this past weekend and I would say it's fair. If you are planning a quick trip and don't plan to spend much time in your room then it's fine. I paid $140 a night and I wouldn't pay more than that, this feels more like a $110 per night kinda place. They charge you to park at the hotel which isn't ideal and the street parking in the area that is free is packed at night. The lobby and main areas are very outdated and plain. The rooms are just ok and could use an update. The bed was fairly comfortable so no complaints there. What I do enjoy about this hotel is they are pet friendly so if you are traveling with a dog I think this place would be fine for you. I do not suggest this hotel for a romantic stay or if it's your first time ever in Canmore. Good for a quick trip or if you are a regular there on business or just dropping in from Calgary. The front desk staff where not friendly or helpful at all but they got the job done. Pros: Takes dogs, good location, decent value Cons: Outdated, unhelpful staff, charge for parking.

Second time staying here. First time was really good. But this time the room was clearly neglected for past cleaning efforts. Mouldy stained shower curtain, layers of dust on fixtures and wall plates, dirty floors in corners. Seemed like a run-down school dorm. Front desk staff suggested that it wasn't the cleaners responsibility — but if not them, then who?

We were visiting friends that stay at the Windtower every winter. Such reasonable rates and very spacious! I was really impressed and the hot tub was nice too!

Very nice hotel, well located to town — 10 minutes walk. Good breakfast. Rooms — as advertised — are SMALL. Don't be surprised; recommend not spending a lot of time in the room if you are claustrophobic! Lots of public areas so you don't have to stay in the room except to sleep.

This is my third stay here thanks to a deal thru Living Social. Great rooms & a price about 1/5th the rate I've paid for similar rooms in Vancouver. They included a free breakfast which is better than any other hotel's free breakfast program. Highly recommend it here!

Too big and noisy, hallways, carpets, hygiene… Needs improvement!

Nice enough staff but not very helpful. Old food found in mini fridge. Dated everything. Extremely uncomfortable beds and pillows. No A. C. (they put 2 floor fans in our rooms). Only good thing is location. We ended up leaving early and sleeping in another hotel for the night. Spend the extra $100 and stay in a newer, nicer hotel.

I would say 3.7 Stars. The kitchen was all clean and tidy and had tools and the living room had a balcony which was pretty nice and had a TV and AWESOME Wi-Fi the bed was also comfy and you could dim the lights as well. One problem I had was the shower. The pressure was not enough and it doesn't have a handle you could hold so you don't fall. And it was slippery I fell once and hurt ma butt.

Expensive, very tiny rooms. Great free breakfast and coffee. No AC, our room was 27 degrees with two fans and they ran out of portable AC units. Huge deck, like stupidly big and right above the garbage cans so the deck smelled like rotting garbage. No pool, no room service. Had to call to get my room cleaned twice even though I had the "requires cleaning" sign on my door. Had to call to get a face cloth, staff weren't happy to help us. Overall a 2 star experience. Great restaurant though.

Not bad considering the price. Rooms are small. Lobby and many areas could use a refresh. Outside in the rear parking lot there were old appliances and not too tidy. Nice view from the restaurant and free buffet breakfast and service was good Underground parking worth $10 No AC in the room. In Summer this is a problem as you have to leave the window open and noise may be an issue. In room fans helped. I would rather pay about $50 more for other places.

This is a very Decent Place to stay. Rooms are tiny, but the washrooms are shiny. I would have given them 5 stars, if they had bottled water in the rooms. Breakfast was well organized and tasted awesome. The location is very beautiful around this hotel with a patio and clean view of the snow clad mountains.

Stayed here on a Friday night. Staff was helpful, hotel looked nice but the wall of the hotel room was coated in dust and someone had written "I ❤ you" in the dust with their finger. Mind you this was the "standard" room given to us for an $89 groupon deal. Breakfast buffet was very good.

Nice room. Friendly staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. I found the bed comfortable but my wife did not. The room was pretty hot until later in the evening and there was not air conditioning. Lots of windows to open though.

Really beautiful place. Breakfast was delicious. The overnight parking was $10 a night but very worth it. Beds and rooms were very clean. Service was very pleasant.

Windtower is located right off the highway and is a few minutes drive into Canmore. The service is pretty standard hotel service. The room we stayed in they call standard rooms, which are smaller than average hotel rooms; they do go above and beyond in ensuring you are aware of this. Standard rooms are essentially rooms that would be rented out to form a 2-bedroom suite. We did pass by an 1-bedroom suite which was being cleaned, and the size of the place was quite large and comfortable. It has in suite laundry/dryer, a full kitchen, and a dining table. Looks like a very nice suite to stay in while staying in Canmore.

Hotel was decent but nothing special. King size bed was just two twins pushed together on separate frames. One side of bed creaked and squeaked every time you rolled over. Could definitely use some updating of furniture. I would not pay full price for this hotel.

The room was spacious and comfortable. Check in was quick and friendly. The bathroom and fridge were not entirely clean upon arrival. Overall, it was a nice place to stay though. The hot breakfast buffet offers a lot of options. We were quite happy with our stay.

Very accommodating. Super friendly staff. Room was very cozy with a convenient kitchenett and dishware. Close to many amenities and outstanding view of the mountains!

Our stay was amazing. We had a great room (clean and sizable), the service was wonderful, and the view was to die for. There was a small hiccup in the begining but it worked itself out. Would definately go again.

Staff is really nice and helpful. The rooms are quite big and well stocked. Our suite had some issues, the sink wouldn't drain, the coffee maker didn't make hot coffee and the light in the bedroom strobed instead of dimmed. Breakfast buffet is pretty decent and the hot tub was hot!

Stayed in a king sized suite thru a deal from Living Social. The room was amazing with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, ample seating in the living room that included a fireplace, and just more room than I ever would have needed. The dinner discount & free breakfast were great perks as well. Will definitely stay here again!

Upon check-in my room was run down with paint chips everywhere, dated orange and green walls and very dirty bedding. The white sheets had black hair in them, the duvet was covered in stains and black smudges and the velvet orange pillow had a giant white stain on it. When I called the Front desk they sent housekeeping to look at it. The housekeeping manager looked and offered to change my bedding but I was grossed out and asked to move. After about 10 minutes he returned and took me to another room. This time bigger and somewhat cleaner. He was very apologetic. While my new room was cleaner than the initial it did have a few issues as well. There was a small fridge that when opened, filled the room with a stale sour smell as someone had unplugged it and left it closed. (I noted never to open that fridge again during my stay). The bathroom had some finger prints on the towel rack, mildew in the bathtub tiles, dusty ledges and a filthy bathroom vent. Again the walls were banged up and chipped. This room at least had a patio but it was littered with several cigarette butts, as someone who doesn't smoke I found this disgusting. While the housekeeping manager was polite and helped me to a new room after my first room was so unacceptable I didn't find the front desk staff very friendly. When I checked out nobody asked me how my stay was or if the new room was better, nobody even said thank you. I'm incredibly disappointed in my stay.

Yuck! Our room was tiny, consisted of two single beds pushed together and claimed as a 'king bed', the floor under the bed was dirty and had candy wrappers on it, the ceiling fan in the room was covered in caked on dust and it was a SAUNA in our room! There was no forced air coming into or going out of our room so upon arriving it was a sweltering 27.5 degrees inside. We turned off the in-floor heat, opened our window, turned on our ceiling fan (which I was worried about doing because of the dirtiness of it) and another fan in the room and went out on the town for 3 or 4 hours and came back to find the room was still super hot. The management staff was not accommodating with our complaint so after a horribly hot night with lack of sleep on a crappy 'king' sized bed we will not be returning to the Windtower Lodge.

We arrived at the hotel and when we walked into the room I was surprised how small the room was. I read the reviews stating how small the room was but was still surprised. We booked a room with a queen bed but we ended up with a king, what really wasn't a king but two twin beds pushed together, which made for an uncomfortable sleep. We also immediately noticed when we walked in that the room temperature was unbearably hot. We looked at the thermostat and it was at 27 degrees. We turned it off and opened the window hoping that it will cool off for when we got back from dinner to go to bed. The room was heated with radiant heating which takes a long time to cool down but we thought it should be cool enough to sleep come bedtime in 7 hours. We came back and it was still 26. We turned the ceiling fan on and there was a stand fan which we also turned. The stand fan had a timer and would turn off every two hours so it wasn't much help. Long story short I didn't get any sleep because of the heat. We had the window wide open and it was cool outside but it was still too hot. The room itself was dingy and run down. There was no shampoo in the bathroom, and the ceiling fan was caked with dust. Do not stay here, even if you get a good rate. It is not worth it. I would have rather slept in my car.

Utter Confusion at Windtower I cannot review the actual suite or premises, because we did not actually stay there. The communication for our booking was lost somewhere between the booking process & the owner/operator. I had booked a suite for my family & received a confirmation. Subsequent to that, I sent a question to the owner regarding bike storage. I did not get an answer… that should have been a red flag right there! So… the morning that we are due to continue on our vacation Kicking Horse Resort to Canmore, I get on-line to confirm the address of Windtower… that's when I see that the reservation had been DECLINED. We did not get an email, phone call, text, smoke signal, etc… stating that the confirmation was no longer valid. Nor was there any explanation or note. I immediately got on the phone & spoke with a very nice person at the Windtower… She explained that the Windtower was overbooked & despite the management asking "CanadaStays to remove availabilities from various websites", they were still offering suites that were not available. Sure enough, I went on-line & found various websites offering suites that very same day! I have travelled extensively for quite awhile & have never encountered such an issue. It is still unclear whether it was the owner, the booking company, or the Windtower that messed up. Regardless, the lack of communication is rampant & I will no longer consider the Windtower.

Stayed here for a wedding and was quite disappointed. It was very hard just to get a hold of them to book the room but then we had to book a suite because we were told there were no standard rooms left after the groom called and confirmed that there was. Check in was at 4:00 we arrived at 5 and our room was still not ready. The rooms were very small and there was damage on the walls and baseboards everywhere. Would have been extremely upset if we hadn't booked the room under a wedding reservation and paid full price.

This was very disappointing stay. We were booked in for two nights for a short getaway after our wedding and we left after one sleepless night and very poor service from not only front end staff, but housekeeping staff as well. We paid extra to have the romantic package and for our dog to come and stay with us to enjoy some hiking. The King bed is actually two twin beds pushed together and not very comfortable to sleep in with a huge gap down the center. The twin beds were already in rough shape to start with. The AC was not working at all and even with all the fans on in the place, it would not cool down by the time we were tired and ready for bed. The next morning, we went for breakfast and then put the sign on to clean the room while we took our dog hiking all day. We wanted them to be able to clean the room without our dog being in the room and because it was so hot, it would not be fair to put him in his crate just so this could be done either. When we got back at 3:30pm the room still had not been touched and the rest of the room in the same hallway had been started to be cleaned, but none of them were finished. All the sheets had been taken off the bed and were propping the doors to each suit open with no cleaning staff in sight. I went and spoke to the front desk and asked how much longer as we were tired and wanted to rest before our dinner reservations that night. We were all hot and our dog needed to rest as well in some shade to cool down from hiking all day.

Room was crazy hot. Front desk staff weren't very helpful or polite.

Booked the room a few weeks in advance. Was told it would be ready at four pm on the third of July. Got there at five thirty and it was not ready. Took a very long time to get another room. The room was barely bigger than the bed. The window crank was broken. No face cloths. The thermostat was taped up and you could not lower the temperature. The swimming pool was not ready. The coffee machine was not cleaned. There was a two inch foamie on top of the mattress that stuck out on both sides. Substandard place and grossly overpriced for what I got. Was excited and happy to get home.

Aug 12, 2014 We regret our choice and would not stay there again. We were disgusted about our standard room and paid for an upgrade (suite) to make the best out of the situation. We have never had such a bad breakfast and we prefered to skip it the next day. And yes, we informed the reception about our negative experience.

A great, comfortable stay. Large rooms. My suite had a full kitchen with a full-sized washer and dryer. Nice to have a working fireplace too. Friendly staff and free breakfast every morning. Will stay again.
