This resort is about an hour and 1/2 boating ride from Belize City. But once you get there it truly is a great experience. The staff is wonderful and makes the resort!
The food is good but rather limited. The bar is well stocked. A negative is their gym is severely lacking. Equipment needs replacing and the room needs a much better a/c unit. Very hot in there.
We stayed in one of the new sunset villas. A well decorated, very comfortable villa with your own plunge pool!

I had an amazing scuba diving vacation at Turneffe Island Resort. For the week, our dive group was under the care of Jovan, the dive master, and Harry, the boat captain. They are a fantastic team who helped us with our equipment and found amazing sites for us to explore. I also earned my advanced open water certification there. Jovan is an excellent instructor and I appreciate the encouragement from both Jovan and Harry as I went through the training dives. By the end of the week, I feel more confident as a scuba diver. I would like to add that the resort is amazing and run by the friendliest staff. On top of that, the meals were outstanding. I am looking forward to my next vacation there.

Wonderful resort with excellent staff, food, amenities and first rate dive crew including Brad/harry and Hilario/VJ! Excellent snorkeling and swimming from the resort boardwalks — hundreds of fish live in the rocks by the boardwalks outer edge and I always saw sting rays. I was in the cheapest rooms — lower floor of the two buildings with two stories and these rooms are great! Ground floor rooms 1-4 are big with easy outdoor shower access, big porches with lounge chairs and great views. Excellent island gym — see pics! Food is extraordinary.

Everything about this place was exceptional. The fishing, service, attentiveness, views, food, snorkeling diving, kayaking, relaxation, spa and experience — completely 5 star. I didn't know what to expect, hoped for a good time, and it more than delivered. Great place for honeymoon, couples, friends or business trip. The staff was remarkable. Very well orchestrated events for anyone fishing, snorkeling or diving. They arrange everything. Highly highly recommend.
*the only negative, but not enough to lose a star, is there is no cell phone service. We knew that before we went. There is only Wi-Fi when you're on the island. The island is about an hour and a half boat ride from Belize Airport, or 20 min by helicopter, so it's secluded. The staff said they're hoping to get cell service there soon.

Amazing place. For divers, my best description is liveaboard diving that is a 5 minutes boat ride away, but you stay in a spacious high end room. Service is phenomenal. Food was fantastic. Highly recommend.

Well kept, idealic isolated location. Staff attentive and friendly. Food very good. Snorkeling trips exquisite.

This island getaway has a very special niche in the vacation travel destination list. It is far enough from the hustle and bustle to count as secluded and small enough to be almost quaint, but the world-class water recreation activities (fishing, snorkeling, and diving) keep it bringing in a variety of travelers, all up for a relatively unplugged experience with limited Wi-Fi and no cell service. The island is small enough to walk everywhere — — barefoot, if you like! And the facilities are comfortable and as nice as their online pics. An eco-friendly place, they offer recycling and produce all their own clean water and electricity. But most importantly they are actively working to care for the natural coral and expand it as much as possible. The official language of the area is English, although the diversity and Belizean culture is apparent, with Spanish and Creole also commonly heard. As for the water recreation attractions, I can only speak for the quality of the snorkeling, but I highly recommend it — — just ask for "Beans" (yes, that's really his nickname, but the only one he goes by) and he will give you a safe, fun experience seeing as much of the rich sea life of the Caribbean as you can handle, and even have fruit and cookies on the boat to replenish you afterwards! If you go, don't miss the Blue Hole outing, which is the main attraction, bringing people from all over the world!

Great diving, staff, food, and location.

Feels like home (if your home were a tropical paradise). The people who run this place are top notch, the acommos are lovely, service personal and friendly. Food was homey with an upscale touch. We went for the scuba diving and 15 dives a week were plenty. Best diving we've done so far, and we've been around. Divemasters and boat captains were professional, efficient and personable. Can't recommend enough. It was the perfect vacation. If you can afford it, it's worth it.

I had an amazing week at Turneffe Island Resort and didn't want to leave! I was a. Rely certified open water diver and Marcela (dive master) and JV (captain) helped tremendously. The food was delicious and the rooms were gorgeous. After the dives we relaxed at the bar with Jorge, the bartender with some very impressive magic tricks. I'll miss everyone on the island and can't wait to return.

This resort was truly amazing. The whole island belongs to this resort, really giving you that "private island" experience. Because it's small, sometimes you feel like you have the whole island to yourself. This also a allows for a very peaceful vacation, unlike larger resorts where you have to fight for chairs at the pool or dinner reservations. Speaking of dinner, the meals were incredible at this place. All of the food was so fresh (they locally source as much as they can) and the desserts were to die for! Each day appetizers are served around the pool bar, which is a great way to meet other guests. The meals are served at communal tables in the dining room, which is also a great way to connect with others and hear about their diving or fishing successes of the day. The staff around the resort are very attentive and helpful. I'll have to say one of my favorite parts was getting coffee delivered to our door every morning. It's a small thing but was such a nice touch. The diving, fishing and other water sports made for an active and fun week on the island. This was only my second time diving and the staff was extremely helpful. The sea life was amazing and every dive group spotted something new and exciting. I would definitely recommend this resort to those that enjoy diving and want to have a relaxing and peaceful vacation with great service.

Worth every penny! Very accommodating, wonderful food by experienced chef, fantastic customer service, safe and experienced dive masters, fun crew, and amazing bar service by George! Beautiful first class resort with great facilities and tranquility. Slight pillow discomfort, but bed was great, showers were the best!
