Gilgara Homestead offers private rooms with en suites. The traditional country home-style shared accommodation includes common areas for guests to access including a shared kitchen, living and dining area. The Homestead features a large fireplace in the shared lounge room and separate reading room with board games. The shared dining room has a kettle, toaster, microwave, small fridge, tea and coffee for guests use.
Gilgara Retreat is located in the heart of the picturesque Margaret River wine region of Western Australia. There are 2 types of accommodation on offer, the homestead and garden apartments.
Gilgara Retreat is nestled on a hillside near the corner of Caves Rd and Carters Rd. It is just a 5-minute drive from Margaret River town. Gracetown, Prevelly beaches, the Cape to Cape trail and Margaret River vineyards are all within a 5-minute drive away.
Located separately from the Homestead, the Gilgara Garden Apartments offer private, spacious and self-contained accommodation, in a modern, split-level, loft style apartment with garden views. Each suite comes with a spa bath, king bed, lounge area, TV, DVD player and a fully equipped kitchenette for self catering.
Surrounded by manicured gardens and grass lawns in a beautiful country environment, Gilgara offers an ideal escape.

We had several things that were agreed to months in advance reneged on at the last minute for our wedding. Beautiful spot but wouldn't recommend the additional stress. There was also zero room cleaning for the three nights the entire homestead and suites were booked for, which they later denied in spite of all of our guests confirming this.
Do not have your wedding here. Long story short; — New manager is extremely jaded with the industry, assumed the worst of everyone. Expect to have your vendors complained about. Constantly. — Margaret River council told me this venue was never licensed for the size of parties they are hosting and they had had several noise complaints none of which was mentioned to us when we agreed to having a live band 6 months previous. Low and behold the council had to enforce the noise restrictions and 5 weeks out we were forced to change our entire wedding location and layout and stick our band in a barn. — Reneged on several things agreed to months in advance only weeks out from the wedding (unrelated to noise complaints) — $3000 a night for 13 rooms and zero service is provided. Three night stay and not a single room was cleaned. — Wifi is limited and capped.

Do not book this place if you're on family vacation. This is STRICTLY for "Romance Purpose". Please beware, this place is NOT for family holiday, absolutely NOT. If you think you can bring guest to stay over or have baby, you are WRONG. The rep knocked on our door to ask the guest leave the property and needs to be out of the site. The Homestead worker has specifically mentioned to me this homestay is for "romance purpose", not family vacation. The customer service office is just next to the rooms, they keep coming out to check on us. No freedom at all. The asian rep is friendly, suggest you speak with her. You will need to share the small fridge with someone else. The toilet is quite old and creepy, cracks on the wall. The worst is, hot shower didn't work properly, with slight adjustment, cold water turned into hot water, very sensitive. The tap also fell off every time.
