Fabulous place to stay! So close to everything. For our 5 night getaway in September, it was the perfect place to stay! Highly recommend the balcony room. Fabulous Friendly staff. We love Hobart and Tasmania.

My husband & I were very fortunate to stay at the Somerset Hobart when the boarders had just reopened briefly in December. We had the the most amazing experience. The accommodation, views & staff were first class. There was a hiccup with our accommodation when we arrived, the staff went beyond to make our stay one we will never forget. We look forward to visiting Hobart again & without a doubt will want to stay here. Exceptional value, location & staff. Thank you so much!

Warning. Do NOT book into this hotel. Following this hotel’s staff instructions, on Jan 1, 2019 we fully pre paid for the required minimum 4 night stay, requesting the same room type that we had stayed in for the previous 2 years. Upon arrival today we discovered we had been allocated a room that had 2 less beds. Our family get together is totally ruined. We are devastated. Hobart is of course fully booked at this time of year & there is no where else comparable for us to stay. Hotel care factor = zero. The Residence Manager has not bothered to call us + she has refused any financial compensation to support us in finding a solution.

This place is beautiful, the staff were amazing after a small accident I had. They were super helpful and caring. The rooms are lovely with plenty of space and wonderful romantic views. I can’t wait to return one day.

Excellent location in the heart of Hobart.

No better place to stay if you live water and boats. The vista on the balcony you could gaze at all day and not venture out if you wanted a restful stay.

Quality accommodation in a central part of Hobart and highly recommended. One worry is car parking There are allocated places on the pier which is first come first served. No valet parking which could alleviate stress. An excellent place to stay for most parts of Hobart or bus tours across Tasnania. Also many nearby restaurants.

Amazing location, pretty view, a comfy bed & friendly staff. Walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything your neighbour is doing — from their alarm to sneezing to pulling up the blinds & beyond if you can imagine. Also certain channels that don’t work due to poor cable reception & the water pressure in the shower is non-existent. It’s a nice place but th photos do make it look a lot more glorious than it actually is. After spending a week there I’m not sure how the hotel can justify its pricing.

Great modern apartments in a perfect location — right between Salamanca Place and Constitution Dock. Comfy beds The parking situation is terrible though so beware if you have a car. We were unlucky enough to have a family as a neighbour and there is no sound proofing whatsoever so we heard every noise the baby and her parents made from 5am onwards. The bathroom downstairs from the bedroom is a bit of a pain.

What a great place to stay. The staff is very friend and helpful. The room was clean and offered plenty of space. I would highly recommend to anyone.

Parking! you should have more.
Apon arrival I didnt know where to park so I paid for parking. When I saw a space become free on the Pier I moved my car. As I was pulling into the space a lady jumped out in front of my car and started yelling at me that I cant park here its for her husband 'who was no where to be seen'. Well we will cut a long story short… after her verbally abusing me and bashing her fists on my bonnet. Maybe Sumerset you could give out parking bay numbers apon arrival at reception. This would stop the crazy people putting dents in my car.

Stayed three nights very clean, staff very friendly and helpful, excellent location, near lovely restaurants and bars, easy walk to city centre shops. Would highly recommend it, sorry to be leaving tomorrow morning so much to do in this lovely place.

Great view. Comfortable apartment style rooms. Great room service menu. Hallway feels like a hospital BUT location is superb!

Pity the bathroom that we got had spa, it was disgusting. The mold was everywhere in the jets, one jet was even missing. The plug was also moldy. The black mold was utterly disgusting. They offered us another room without a spa after I showed them my photos of the spa, then they said that they'd clean the room and take their own photos, like mine weren't legit? The rest of the room was in good order, but aging some, but the bath and plug have deterred me from ever staying at these places ever again. When we got back to the room, the plug was still moldy and the jets were not at a point that I'd use the spa. They gave us a free white wine and truffles… You have to lean backwards while in the shower to be under the water properly as it's not adjustable and right at the end of the bath (shower over bath). The exhaust fan is also broken in the bathroom. You also only get four coffee/tea/sugar. For the price you think they could give you twice that account. The parking availability is also quite terrible, they have three small areas in different places around the wharf that can be used, if it's raining, expect to get very wet coming to and from your car. Upon leaving and takijmg the sheets off the bed and pillow cases off the pillows as I've always done, I found big horrible yellow stains on the mattress protector, the polillows were also had yellow stains all over them.

We stayed here, position wise it is perfect, staff are very friendly and helpful, however, for the price, we expected a lot more. The rooms need to be updated, the heating is terrible and there was a constant noise above our room. With a bit of updating and reinvesting into the apartments this could be something really special.

Location is great! The rooms need a freshen up as well as the bathroom. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff should clean the bathroom a little better. Unfortunately the cafe in the building doesn't open until 10.00am on weekdays.

I think we’ve got the worst room in the house. Our view is out to a rusted ship. We don’t have a window to open and there’s no air flowing through. The “loft” is below a sloping roof so it’s total claustrophobic. What a disappointment for the price. We were told they couldn’t help us as we booked through a third party.

Great place on the wharf. The view was fantastic. We were lucky enough to get free parking. There are many restaurants almost right on top of the place. We got the room for a good price. Staff were ok… all the furniture was chipped, scuffed or just very old. The walls were extremely thin. You could hear everything… Only real complaints.

We stayed here at a recommendation of a friend who lives locally and we could not be happier. The location is ideal, as you are right on the pier within walking distance to all the city sights including Salamanca Market which is just a stones throw away. The room we had was fully fitted with kitchen amenities and suited us well with the open plan bedroom located upstairs. It had a balcony which gave splendid views of the boats docked in the pier. The bathroom was good but could do with some updating soon. Parking was also not a problem as you are given a ticket which you can use in selected spots on Franklin Wharf. Although limited, we never had difficulty finding a spot for our rental car. The staff were courteous and friendly always. The only thing we noticed was that we could at times hear the family in the room next to us. However I would qualify my comment by saying that this family had very loud children! We would certainly stay here again if we are in Hobart.

One of the best spots I've stayed in Hobart. All the staff were excellent, the parking is great considering the very central location and the room was well furnished and very clean. Would not hesitate to stay here again!

Great location and friendly staff. The room is very modern and stylish. Parking is limited so be early.

Friendly service to start with. Be aware that the voucher for a drink at the bar next door is valid on the day you check in. Self contained rooms have lovely view over water, simple decor and the bedroom in the loft, I. E. You may need to carry the suitcase up and down the stairs. The walls are so thin I could hear the neighbours cough and sneeze. There's also low pitch noise coming through to the bedroom which was a bit annoying. There's no aircon, only a heater. Although I would probably stay there again as there is a fridge, microwave, crockery, free Wi-Fi. The location is also close to the CBD.

The split level room allows for real apartment living. Views from the room over the water are great. Location is excellent as the city, Salamanca and Battery Point are a short stroll away. The hotel staff are wonderful, particularly Richard in reception and Carolyn in housekeeping. Parking is very limited.

Stayed here 6 nights in winter. Great views from all rooms of the water, rooms are quite large, and the loft-style arrangements make them feel even larger. Paper-thin walls mean you hear the neighbours every time they walk up those stairs… nonetheless, would stay again.

We difinaetly enjoyed our stay here. Nice, clean apartment with nice views and close to everything. Would highly recommend.

The rooms are spacious and centrally located, as noted in other reviews the heaters can be noisy but I'm a heavy sleeper. Lovely view — I was looking at some huge Antarctic ship which I quiet enjoyed. The bathrooms are large but not luxurious by any means. I would stay here again for all but romantic getaways.

If you're looking for a romantic weekend away don't bother booking here! I booked the exclusive apartment with king size bed, only to be given two single beds pushed together! And no; not two single bases with a king mattress on top (which is acceptedable) but two single beds with two single mattresses held together by the sheets! The beds were horrible and the mattresses sagged in the middle making it impossible to be close to my partner not to mention being uncomfortable to sleep on. When I approached reception staff they advised they had "nothing else available" and that "we had already been upgraded"! Well if that's an upgrade, what where they originally going to give me?! This place is a waste of money and completely over priced for what you actually get! Oh and to add to the insult when asking for a late checkout they offer one extra hour! Never coming back! Will never recommend!

In terms of location you would be hard pressed to find better. Located in the centre of Franklin wharf (out on the pier), it is central to just about everything. The rooms are spacious with lounge, kitchen, large bathrooms and loft bedrooms. The views in either direction look over the harbour and waterfront precinct. Top marks for comfort, cleanliness and staff (helpful yet unobtrusive). There were some noise issues from the service areas now and again in the early morning which may effect those who like to sleep late. The bars and restaurants located on the same pier are excellent but there are many more within 2 minutes walk. Spoilt for choice! 3 minutes walk from Salamanca. 5 minutes walk from Battery Point. 5 minutes walk to the CBD. The ferry to MONA docks right next door.

Amazing views across the Derwent River from your room. Loved watching the old sailing boats bob around the dock.

Very close to everything in Hobart city, good rooms with water views. The downside was the parking, which is not always available and can be tricky to find.

We had a really nice room with a great view of the water. Lovely spot, a short walk into the city for shopping and food. A tad on the pricey side but a good experience nonetheless!

Very expensive for what you get! The 2-room apartment is not really a 2-room as one is just a common area with two beds. Disappointing. The view is not really worth it either.

Put us in room 11 situated over an alfresco bar that played music every night till after midnight. Definely wouldn't recommend. Tried to change rooms, staff were sympathetic but unhelpful.

Great location and very clean rooms with views and access to the water just out side. Centrally located shops and restaurants with easy access to taxis and public transport I would have given them a 5 if the heater wasnt so dam noisy :)

I went there for a WE. It is very expensive for what you get. You're close to the harbor but the view is not very nice.

Recently stayed after a difficult arrival with staff saying they did not have reservation, booked by travel agent! put in a different room, quite nice. Heating appalling so loud cannot hear television or conversation. No fan in toilet, light blown in bathroom. Road and outside noise intrusive. Bedrooms stuffy! Great position though access to everything. Enjoyed our time in Hobart …

A relaxing and comfortable room right on the edge of the harbour, very friendly and helpful staff.

The second time in 15 months my wife and I have had the pleasure of living (normally would say staying but if just feels more homely) at Sommerset on the Pier and we have nothing but praise and accolades. The staff are magnificent and the location is core to everything Tasmanian! Add the latest walking distance attractions with MONA winter festivals and who could ask for more in choosing a home base in Hobart! Kudos your a shining example of how to just make it work.
