Gorgeous historic BnB outfitted with the utmost thought and design of bringing the past and restoring it. Cute as a button! Location and views to die for. Can’t wait for breakfast which Paul and Brendan kindly have offered to open up early for us as we have to catch the early ferry. Great hosts. The total package!

STAY AWAY — Psychopath territory! Mark must be a saint putting up with Brendan. There was no one else staying there apart from a Tradie. Dear Public, I invite you to read the written response from the establishment to myself after I had written my review. Does it not strike you as strange and unprofessional? Please be aware that no one else was staying there apart from a tradie in inappropriate clothing and a blasting radio. I would be happy to testify to any of you unsuspecting public my nightmare stay at this establishment. Warring bitchy queens are the last thing you want when you are trying to relax and Buckingham palace it ain’t apart from the Queens!

One of the hosts was a lovely warm welcoming man. We were shown to our room and impressed. We had trouble with the heating which we finally gave up on. After an inquiring phone call as to the heater another of the hosts came up. He continued to verbally assault us in the most offensive way I’ve ever seen by a hotelier. The room was quite dusty along with the rest of the place and really needed to be worked on to bring it up to standard. After the unsolicited verbal abuse it was all over for us and we couldn’t wait to leave. Interestingly the very same man was in the driveway when we got in our car to drive off, he still had a dour look on his face and completely ignored us. I’ve given two stars to the lovely man that greeted us so warmly, taken off a star for the dust and unfortunately two stars off for the terribly rude and abusive host. I’ve actually never experienced anything like this from a hotelier anywhere in the world. I’m not sure why he was like this but it certainly doesn’t do any good for PR. If a person is unable to withhold their anger with paying guests then I don’t think he should be running a B&B. I usually give good reviews but sorry guys, the behaviour is just not on!

Paul and Brendon were the perfect hosts ensuring our stay in their magnificent establishment was lacking in nothing. No effort was spared including recommending & driving us to & from the best restaurant in Devonport, then after a comfortable night's rest, a sensational breakfast each day.

We had a wonderful experience. The room was amazing and the hosts went above and beyond to make sure all our needs where met, not to mention breakfast it was cooked beautifully. Would highly recommended staying here. A must stay when in Devonport.

Beautiful old building rightly named… hosts are so welcoming… furnishings are amazing… comfy sleep. Great breakfast. Good location easy walk to centre and close to Tassie ferry terminal.

We came over on the Spirit of Tas and The Grand is a a great location to see the ship arrive and depart from the balcony, enjoying a glass of wine. Paul and Brendan are the perfect hosts. We just loved everything about The Grand. Brendan is famous for his shortbread cookies. My husband was very spoilt. We didn't want to leave. Accommodation very clean and the best location for a stop over. THE BEST B&B in Tasmania.

Booked the wrong day on the ferry so needed to stay the night in Devonport last minute. Best mistake I ever made. It was really lovely. Clean lush beautiful rooms. We were a bit stressy but the staff looked after us. Booked us a table at a restuarant and gave us a cuppa with delicious home made shortbread. We slept like lambs. Magnificent home cooked breakfast using local produce. Great coffee. Ive already booked our next stay for the Deloraine craft fair in 2018.

I walked into the magnificent home and felt straight at home.
Greeted by Paul the one of the owners with home made short bread made with love once you meet Brenden the other owner of this beautiful place.
It was our 30 th wedding anniversary so Brenden whipped up home made warm scones and his home made jam. Ask him for his grandma scone recipe he will kindly share.
After not sleeping for many months I slept like a baby in their beautiful bed in a beautiful room.
The breakfast was so fresh and tasty. Thank you boys for such a special 30 th anniversary and all the kind 5 star treatment.

The grand is a 5 star plus many more. An unexpected treasure. The rooms are just incredible, the service is personal and real, we even tried to cancel our ongoing accomm boomings to stay longer, alas, could not, but we will visit again (so my wife tells me).

Service was second to none, we were shown to our rooms, which were beautiful, the beds were comfy and sevice at breakfast was delightful.

This is a must stay experience in Devonport. Fantastic accommadation abd they go beyond. Beautiful homemade shortbread on arrival. Complementary Port or Sherry in the lounge area. Rooms are old world charm. The breakfast is also magnificent. Huge servings and very happy to please. Enjoyable, friendly and highly recommended.

What a charming place! The service and hospitality provided by Paul and Brendan was fabulous. The high tea was delicious. Would thoroughly recommend The Grand on Macfie. If we ever come back to Devonport, we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. Brill.

Run by 2 really friendly guys! Really nice B&B much nicer than the other options in the area. Well worth a look.

Awesome hospitality from the time I walked into the reception to every mornings greeting at breakfast and again each night on my return. Even offering to open the kitchen early for my departure. Awesome room and decor with the 4post bed (pity I was without my wife) and view over looking the wharf and seeing the Spirit of Tasmania from the balcony. I will be back (with the wife)

Just want to say thank you to two perfect host, the place is amazing and luxurious, the bit extras makes a big difference to such a pleasant stay, the tarts and french horns were divine. We will highly recommend this to our friends and will return ourselves.

Our stay at Grand Macfie was perfect! Absolutely beautifully furnished, Stunning! Gorgeous big comfortable mattress, 1000 count sheets and big fluffy towels. Nothing has been spared for guests comfort, especially the little bag of Brendan's home made shortbread on arrival (and the sneaky one on departure I didn't tell hubby about), also the lovely breakfast with the finest table setting. The view from the balcony is to die for! Paul and Brendan made us very welcome and were most accommodating. In all we loved the experience and cannot fault our stay. Looking forward to our next visit. Would highly recomend this Hotel.
