Great food great staff relaxed atmosphere. Love that our dog was welcome on the outside deck so we could enjoy a really good meal.

Catered well for coeliac many gluten free options. Chicken snitz was the best with great crumbs GF. All cooked in a seperate fryer. Will certainly come back.

We stayed at this hotel I must say it was a great experience food was absolutely delicious and the staffs are very accommodating this is definitely a home away from home nice and well spent quick getaway plus not to mention it is great value as well…

The food was magnificent, 5 star food with 5 star presentation, we eat out a lot and this is one of the best meals we have all had (5 people) in ages. Service was excellent, fast and friendly, nothing seemed to be a bother to them. Do you yourself a favour and make the effort to have lunch or dinner at this well maintained hotel. Lovely open fire places for Winter comfort.

The food was amazing, plus the atmosphere is what small town hotels should be about.
Great surroundings, nice accommodation and warm hospitality.
Prices are reasonable too.

Enjoyed a standout real roast beef lunch with all the trimmings out on the veranda with friendly locals and great Clare valley wines. Always love stopping by this pub on our Clare travels.

Such a beautiful and relaxing stay… claw bath and champagne in our “old world “ feel cottage … topped off with a magnificent meal in the pub restaurant with the friendliest staff to boot. Enjoyed after dinner drinks in a stunning rose garden out front of our accommodation listening to the Adelaide Fringe act of Clare’s concert band playing at the rear of accommodation. Give massive thumbs ups up and a must for those looking for both fun and relaxation. I will be back ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

This was a great place the last time we went however today Mothers day we have left and will never return. Food was very average as a result of issues in the kitchen. Staff were berated in front of us (i did bring this to the owners attention). And to top it off we ordered our meals at 1:30pm and received them at 3:15pm. For this we received a plate of garlic bread for free and a pint. Im extremely upset!

Lovely spot, staff were great, food delicious. Biggest steak we’d seen in a long time, and it was cooked perfectly. Also had a chicken burger, hamburger and the squid schnitzel. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal, would come again for sure.

A great little country pub with plentiful and friendly service. Had the Rising Sun Burger which was a massive serve and tasted beaut. The outside seating looked great but was full so settled on an inside seat in a slightly noisy and echoey part of the hotel.

Nice little stop and relax after a day of tasting I'm the Clare Valley. Could have done without being asked if I was ok and then told there are public toilets across the road. Almost walked out.

Stopped here for lunch with my partner. We walked into a nice little restaurant area with a fire thinking that would be where we were going to be seated. We were sat out in the hallway around the back of the bar where there is no heating whatsoever, it was so cold! Took ages to for them to come & take our order. My partner got the chicken schnitzel which was good. I had the burger, it didn't come on a brioche bun as advertised. It was a ok burger if it was one from a deli for $7, not a restaurant quality burger at all & it cost me $20. Not very impressive. I won't go back there again.

Overcharged when they realized a heap of us were coming through. Put their drinks up from 7 to 12 $. Disgusting. Will never step foot in their again.

Never again. Menu differed from website, expensive, eggplant dish small and barely no eggplant, tasteless, chilled salad was warm, couldn't hear ourselves talk as staff putting cutlery away as we were seated in the hallway so no chance of a private conversation. Politely informed waitress when asked how the food was, no comment forthcoming. Extremely disappointing as the last time we were there everything was perfect. Best thing about it was the amazing wine list.

This is a well proper mid-north hotel with great accommodation and both fine dining and front bar. A firm favourite in this neck of the woods, you'd be hard pressed to find better (& more cost effective) accommodation and hotel facilities that put you right at the door step of this most magnificent wine region.

Not what it used to be. Now it's pretty much standard pub fare. Shame, this place was THE best dining experience in the region.

Lovely old hotel with friendly staff, the meals were huge, probably too big. The only let down was the chips were served covered in salt, way too much for my taste.

We had a group of just over 50 for lunch, from the very start the service was friendly prompt and efficient. We had two choices of platters — Roast Beef with a red wine gravy and Barramundi served with garden salad and roast potatoes. The roast beef was cooked succulently and melted in your mouth accompanied with the tasty gravy that proved to be an excellent match. The Barramundi tasted good as it also melted in your mouth. The service was of a good standard with friendly staff on hand. A thoroughly enjoyable lunch and would recommend it for a large group function.
