Booked an ocean view apartment. Only got the pool view! Rooms were dusty and windows all over the apartment were filthy! Window sill had old tea towels from leaking and they were filthy too! We checked in late and the curtains in the lounge were broken, rug was messed up and the place wasn’t cleaned up. I was not impressed especially for the money paid! Kitchen oven was disgusting and there was no Wi-Fi. Bathroom door was broken, toilet paper in en-suite and main toilet were half used and there were no spare rolls. No toiletries, just one soap per room and a towel. There was a single bed in the lounge that shouldn’t have been there. I will not be going back and I will not recommend this place to anyone especially if you spend a lot of money on a place like that! Service was unprofessional and didn’t care about your needs. Worst place ever.

Excellent and friendly receptionist, beautiful ocean views and clean and tidy rooms with big heated pool and tram at door stop to take you into the heart of Cavill Avenue and Tedder Avenue.

So far so good for decent price.

Toilet looked like it had vomit on it, mould on the aircon, bathroom door was hanging off its hinges, dishwasher didn’t work. When I checked out, I explained the state of the room to the lady at reception and she didn’t seem to care nor was she remorseful. We will not be coming back.

Good average save money and convenient everything close.

Fantastic Amenities, Amazing Views and Beautiful Clean apartments styled with class and very modern in deed. Pictures on line do not do any justice of the spectacular layout and furnishings… Steve the manager is sooo welcoming and accommodating This Should be classed as a minimum of a 4 Star Resort!

After reading the reviews I was amazed how petty some reviews were. I won't assume all things you read is correct in future. This is an older resort so it won't be five star. It is great value for a very reasonable price. Our rooms for 5 were much bigger than expected. Great pool, bbq, childs play area, lovely gardens, fantastic customer service from staff, walking distance to shopping and a tram stop outside the door. Would definitely recommend for a great holiday. Thank you Golden Gate staff for making our holiday a very memorable experience.

Great views as stated on last-minute website. Big apartment. Only downside no condiments left in kitchen. Only stayed 4 nights and eat out on 2 so didn't purchase any. Showers excellent.

Easy to find, good access. Great location and the rooms and building are nice and presentable.

Awesome spot can't complain beautiful view so close to everything. Walk to beach. And wonderful walk to surfers PARADISE, close to tram.

We loved it! We had a lovley holiday! Our room was spotless the resort gardens look like ur on a island! AWESOME barbecue areas! Friendly staff! Walking distance to surfers paradise! Jump on the motor rail right out side! AWESOME! Go back agian!

I got a great deal on this 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. I didn't have high expectations, but I have to say my expectations were exceeded. We checked in outside of their office hours. It was a simple phone call to get the code to a keysafe. The apartment itself was a very good size. Each apartment is privately owned so they will vary in presentation. Ours has been renovated over the years. It was functional and comfortable. Main bed was king sized and comfortable. Second room was a double. The big let down was the cleanliness. It wasn't up to normal standards. We had to do a tidy up on day 1. A couple of the blinds were broken and some furniture wasn't in good condition. The provision of 2 toilet rolls, 1 dishwasher powder, 1 washing machine powder, and 1 dishwashing liquid was lacking. They do however sell additional sachets at reception. The view from the apartment was decent. We stayed on the 15th level overlooking Main Beach. The building is location 2 tram stops from Cavill Avenue, or around a 15 minute walk. Only a short 3 minute stroll to the beach. Unfortunately it's a fairly noisy location as located on the Highway. The building is past its glory days. Underground parking was convenient but quite narrow and low. The Gardens and pool area was very nice. The pool was heated to a comfortable warm temperature and could be used upto 9pm. The gardens were well maintained and clean. BBQ areas were great also.

Unit was spacious and clean but needed updating, the grounds and swimming pool area were great for kids and was in walking distance from the hub of surfers and across from the beach.

Great location, disappointing room had to go complain about our first room as it was filthy, got a new room however bath was disgusting (not suitable to bath children), bathroom walls were dirty, there was snot on the wall behind the bed, dishwasher was full, dining chairs and lounge clearly hadn't been wiped over (wiped with a wet wipe, it turned black! ). Not clean enough to have children in. Would not stay here again.

My family and I have been here 5 times now, the first 4 times were amazing hence why we came back. This time the service and room was that ridiculous that we will never come back again. We had a broken toilet, maggots and baby flies coming out of the insinkurator, a very fowl smelling room then needed steam cleaning, not enough towels and toiletries, pans that were that old that we couldn’t cook in them, the lot goes on! I hope no one gets room 2102 because it is definitely not 4 stars I wouldn’t even give it half a star. Will definitely call the health inspector for this room! It was disgusting.

Adequately maintained older holiday apartments a stone's throw to the beach most with ocean views. Great place for families with children. Pool, Tennis courts and gardens are always kept clean. Secured Underground parking. Beauty salon on the ground floor. Tram station 30m away is very convenient to get around Gold Coast.

Not the service you expect from a resort in a world-renowned town at the Gold Coast — Surfer's Paradise, and it's current rating (4-Star) was far from its reality. I would have stayed there in a "backpacking" mode and brought more backpackers if I knew it wasn't a resort and hope to make the stay worthy. It looked like it was only serviced to purely generate income from an old building without any objective to serve its clients. On the other hand, there was an attendant there who seemed to know very well how to treat tired travellers who wish to check in early, thanks to him, the first attendant was quick and rude enough to refuse us to check in almost and hour earlier. The parking was good, it was also close to the beach (walking distance) and a convenience store (Pit Stop) and a tiny bar/cafe (GC). Here are the things you need to consider and expect for this apartment, again this is a plain old apartment and not some 4-star "resort". — As told by the attendant their aircon system was broken and it wasn't even clearly stated in their website or their affiliates.

When staying at golden gate resort we stayed on the 18th floor, there was a grate view of the ocean and beaches, the room was neat and tidy. Super friendly staff and always happy to help, they let us check in early and have a luggage room for all guest, 24 hour access and really nice courtyard. Very close to traim and buses stops and super esay to go into the cbd or to the theme parks, all and all we had a grate vacation.

I stayed at 8th floor. Arrived on sunday afternoon. We had problems with parking since no reception upon arrival, we found an envelope with keys and parking instruction letter. Our parking allocation said TBA so we called the afterhour reception came and gave us the map which had a parking spot highlighted. Then we went down to the parking, someone already parked there so we called again. They advised us to park on a visitor's parking (max. 4h) and came down in 4h to check the car is gone and move the car… I demanded for someone to come down to reception to solve this problem. Yes. It was not their fault that someone parked on our allicated parking spot but rearranging isn't our responsibility and I was certainly not come down to parking lot to check that car has gone or not for every hour. Good view, cheap price through groupon, close to beaches, outdoor pool, bbq is maintained clean, good water pressure and instant hot water. Cockroaches, noises from the road, one very thin towel given for 3nights 4days, showerhead broke off with a touch. Overall not very pleased with the place.

The lady at the front desk was very helpful. She went out of her way to help us. The room was lovely with new furniture. Great views. The bed was a double. No air conditioning. There was a vent but it just blew hot air and you couldn't adjust the temperature. The cleaning was the only thing that wasn't up to scratch. The blanket had sticky lollie all over it and we couldn't call anyone to get a clean blanket. So we didn't use it. Make sure you take midgi repellant as we were quite high up but had a heap of midgis flying in. Great room just let down by the uncleanness and the oven was broken.

As a returning guest I was looking forward to the same great experience I had the first time but unfortunately this was not the case. The room was outdated and far from family friendly. There was no air conditioning, broken shower heads, leaking fridge, busted door knobs and a broken DVD player. Due to this I will be looking elsewhere for future trips.

Decent place. Was disappointed at the lack of a fitness centre and free Wi-Fi. No major issues other than that. Really close to the beach.

Location great however a little bit hard to get to.

Very lovely resort! Loved the pool and proximity of the beach.

The rooms are all good. Good views. Good location. Heated pool which was nice and the grounds were well looked after. But we were there on a public holiday long weekend public holiday and down at the bbq's. There were lots of people down there and only one BBQ working and two broken bbqs. They had even brought a separate BBQ down but it was out of gas. No number for maintenance could be found but we called the Google number and someone answered and told us to go buy our own gas bottle. Not the sort of service you expect for the money paid. Not a bad place. But don't expect them to look after you.

My daughter and I booked a 5 night deal — 2 bedroom apartment through Groupon; very cheap, so I didn't have high expectations. The apartment was huge; great views, everything looked clean and it had all that we expected in it. Location is good; short 2 stop tram ride (right outside the Resort) to Cavill Ave (too lazy to walk, but you easily could). The blind string broke when my daughter was trying to open it, but we let them know, so no big deal. Bath didn't have a plug and they couldn't find one to fit, but once again, minor issue for us. I never pay top dollar to stay at any holiday accommodation; am always looking for deals, so again, my expectations were not high. All I ask for is a clean unit and basic ammenities which this place has. I wouldn't stay here over the summer months though as there was no airconditioning to speak of, so I was grateful that there was a mobile fan which I used at night. You pay for what you get.

Karen is lovely. She is very helpful. I love the apartment, it's very spacious and location is perfect right in the heart of Surfers Paradise. Free parking. It has everything that we need as a young family — kitchen, big fridge, plenty of storage, washing machine, dryer, beautiful view and two bathrooms with a bath tub. My daughter plays in the bathtub every morning. We only paid $599 for 7 nights accommodation using Groupon deal. It was a bargain! I won't complain too much for this price! I would love to come & stay again with my family. Not to forget I love the big TV and free 24/7 entertainment & movies.

Wow I can't believe how rude Karen is! I emailed asking about the groupon deal they have for 4 people.
This is my email: Hello I found a groupon deal for your hotel and the deal is for 4 people which I am assuming are adults. My question is, I have 2 daughters that are 1 and 2 years old, are babies classified as adults or do they stay for free and I can have at least 1 more adult to be included in the groupon deal?

There is a maximum total of 4 persons in a 2 bedroom apartment (whether they are children or adults – this is for health and safety reasons).
I then called to speak with her to find out about the health and safety and she went on to say that it's just part of the health and safety regulations, only 4 persons maximum. I asked why a 1 and 2 year old should be charged adult rate and explained no where does that. She said if I don't like it then stay elsewhere. I said I was confused as the groupon deal also stated there can be one more adult added (which exceeds maximum capacity) but there's extra money to be paid per night. She said well sorry I am confused. I asked can there be an extra adult added if I have 4 people (2 adults 2 babies) and she said yes one more adult can stay. I replied saying this is why I am confused, I thought 4 people were maximum, how come we can go to 5 now?

Disgusting dirty rooms and had the cheek to leave a letter about rooms need to be cleaned or we will Bill your credit card for cleaning the room. Just because purchased through Catch Of The Day or whoever it was doesn't mean you should false advertise and put people in the unfurnished room. The airconditioner was enough to give legionaries disease and before you dispute this I have taken pictures. I left a note and you couldn't be bothered to even respond. Lady at the desk was lovely, amenities were great and position.

I recently stayed in this resort for 1 week in October 2014, the leather couches in the apartment were ripped and so old I didn't even want to sit down on them. I used my beach towel to sit on. The blanket on our bed was visibly dirty with brown marks all over it, the furniture was all really old and over used. The showers were also dirty and bathroom very old. The pool area constantly had people drinking and smoking. We did not complain about this at the time of our stay and just brushed it aside and continued with our holiday as we aren't fussy people. When we got home, I noticed a $60 charge on my visa. I rang to find out why, was told it was due to leaving 5 neatly tied safe way bags with rubbish in them next to our door as we didn't not know how to dispose of extra rubbish, also it was for not unpacking the dishwasher which had been put through. We were not aware we had to pack away dishes when staying at a "resort". How they justify a $60 charge for this, I do not know? Can gladly say we will never stay there again.

We recently stayed here with our kids. The reception area stunk like ciggies and we were dissapointed that there were people smoking and drinking alcohol at the tables near the pool area. We wouldn't recommend this place.

I have stayed at golden gate many times in many of their rooms, all I have been in have been excellent with views of the ocean. It would be an ideal place to stay for INDY as it looks right over the indy track. The 2bed spa deluxe apartments are excellent and they are much cheaper than other apartments in surfers paradise, and in my opinion much nicer the 2bed spa deluxe apartments are all newely renovated, spacious, clean and have modern furniture. The 2 bedroom standard ones are also spacious with mostly modern furniture. The 2 bedroom budget apartments are very affordable, they are not renovated and some furniture is not modern and I dont think would be suited for young singles or couples as its a bit outdated. Most apartments have dvd players but I advise you to request one when you are booking so they have one available in your room for you as sometimes they dont have one in there. I will continue to stay here for a long time as I have always been happy with the apartments and never had a major problem. highly recommend.
