I love staying at Brisbane Backpackers Resort. The people there are so kind and friendly and are so welcoming. I have enjoyed staying and will continue to stay.

I clearly recommend this backpacker if you go to brisbane. The BBR crew is the best, truly helpful and friendly. The hostel Is well located near South bank and the lagoon. The room are clean and large. It's really the right backpacker to make friends and enjoy brisbane.

This backpackers is one of the best around. Pool. Spa. Bar. Kitchen for cooking own food & laundry & food to order! Staff are super friendly & helpful. Rooms are very clean with small fridge & ensuite! Very close to heaps of restaurants in West End & public transport Would definitely stay again.

The bars close at 10pm TOO EARLY, they only have the air conditioner on from 7pm-7am and when it’s on it feels like nothing and it’s still stinking hot and it’s more expensive then most backpackers that do give you a remote for the air cons…

Very good hostel! Cleany baths and kitchens. Staff will always help you in whatever you need with a smile. Also all the shared places follow strictly the rules: no music, quiet and silence after 10 pm, wich let you rest in calm in the night. I stayed there for more than 2 weeks and I felt I was part of a family.

Good nice Hostel. I stayed for 4 days and was good. Power near bed, balcony and bathroom inside which is all good. Very cheap dinner, I have beef burger which is nice.

We stayed for 7 nights and ended up paying way more than we expected. They do have free Wi-Fi, but it is terribly slow but don't worry you can pay extra for "high speed Wi-Fi" that buffers frequently. Oh did I mention when you pay for Wi-Fi you are paying per device-therefore if you have a phone and a lap top that it double the price. Ridiculous. They have computers you can use but oh YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THOSE TOO. There is no heat in any of the rooms so it becomes freezing cold every time the sun is down (morning and evening). Also, the front desk is not the most helpful. Many times we asked about things going on and we got back an attitude as if we were supposed to already know. The positives are we got our room and stored luggage. There is also a shuttle drop off that helps. Overall, Brisbane Backpackers Resort is literally what you pay for. Not the best experience.

Communication via email with Lara makes it 5 star for me. We had to put 30 heads for 2 nights stay. She was very accommodating and asking all preferences. Clean bed and breakfast, not to mention the fish shop at the lobby was great, cheap and yummy.

Bro this hostel stinks more than anything i‘ve smelled before. Had to leave before entering.

I've been to Brisbane last month, with some friends. We were looking for a cheap accomodation, with some facilities and we found this cool place. We wanted visited the city but the weather wasn't always good, so we spent a lot of time in the pool and the spa… wow! We loved the great atmosphere, all the staff friendly and very helpful, everyday clean rooms (not all my friends were tidy…). Everything was perfect and the city was easily to reach thanks to the free buses near the entrance. Can't wait to come back soon! Thank you.

Simple place to have a quick stay, but pretty average or borderline. We stayed on Saturday evening when it was very noisy because of the bar, even though they have a "silence-after-10pm" policy. Small negative: Wi-Fi is unusable slow. Nevertheless, they provide lockers (paid but cheap), laundry, cooking opportunities and everything you might need as a backpacker.

Good stay rates, cheap drinks and food. Lots of fun activities and on a good location close to streets beach!

BBR is the best hostel I've stayed at in all of Australia and my 14 other countries. I stayed here for two weeks and loved it. Most of the time there's a great atmosphere outside with really friendly people all on their own personal journey. Everyone's good but no one is perfect, so here's where they can improve: 1) Buy a fly trap or electric zapper and use it at night. The fly problem is just that, a major problem (mainly when trying to enjoy a nice meal I made from their kitchen). 2) The hot tub is more of a cold tub. Although it's warmer than the pool, the hot tub doesn't reach over 32°C. 3) The 24 hour menu is pretty much all frozen food they just deep fry. I could have gone to Cole's and bought a frozen box if I wanted something that's gonna give me a heart attack. Positives: 1) The staff is super friendly and helpful! I really enjoyed seeing them everyday. 2) The rooms are pretty decent. Mine had the best balcony overlooking the scene below. I was only bothered by the noise a couple nights but I never had a hard time sleeping because of it (I slept right by the balcony door and usually had it open a little). 3) The old guys living there right now are a hell of a bunch and you've gotta get to meet them! Some days Todd will make a gourmet dinner and for $10 it's all you can eat! 4) The TV room is great and their sound system is 5 star… When it's not being taking over by George, a super old chap that I think is trying to live out his life in the hostel.

Super convenient facilities — a cash machine, restaurant, vending machines, ice-cream freezer, laundry facilities that are clean and include credit card payment options.

The night manager is a jerk, after several run ins and seeing him talk to other guests I had to check out and find somewhere else. He even once stopped me when I was coming home at 11pm to sign forms because he claimed he lost them and he wouldn't let me in until I had signed them.

I stayed here on my recent stay to Brisbane. Booked via Hostelworld at around $18.00 for the night. Checked into a room with 8 people and was a bit messy but comfortable. They offered breakfast and dinner with good prices and a pool spa and even basketball court which was great. Only stayed the one night but was good stay.

Probaply the worst hostel in Briss. It was dirty and had 1 toilet for 20 people, old and falling apart.

Awesome hostel for the price you pay! The rooms are nice with amazing air-conditioning, free breakfast, good kitchen, and not far of southbank. It is a family hostel with people from every age so not a party. Still a nice place to be and sooo friendly staff! Got even a free room upgrade. Only bathrooms aren't that good but you can't have paradise for this amazing price.

It was the first backpackers to visit in Australia. It is in the Westend area very close to bars, restaurants and pubs. Not very clean but if you go backpacking do not expect to find much cleanliness… They have lockers to leave your valuables and the rooms are for 12 people. The pool is very good and they serve food inside. Besides, it's the cheapest I could find.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS "HOSTEL" it's awful and I can't see how they can still trade as a traditional hostel they are almost completely full of permanent residents lots of complete family's living at the hostel. I felt uncomfortable and wasn't able to use any of the facilities as can felt the entire hostel was dominated by those who clearly live here. I would 100% not have felt safe to be here as a solo traveler. The noise all night and starting again about 4 am is like nothing I have heard considering I have been traveling for 3 months and continually staying in hostels this one has been a awful experience. The beds are dreadful too I can feel the metal through the mattress, its also not the cleanest of places either. Just do not stay here! Its super cheap and available for a reason.

Clean hostel. The staff is really strict about check in times and you can't use the facilities before noon. The hostel has about 20 dorms.

It is a good hostel with a bar included. It is almost fully booked at the moment but the organization is very good. You can know people from different countries and enjoy amazing moments.

Good location in West end close to everything you need. I stayed in an 8 bed dorm which was lightly cleaned each day. Good sized kitchen and licenced bar with food. Prices change with availablity so may increase if you extend your stay.

Great stay with great facilities. They have free Wi-Fi at the lobby. If u are driving there, parking space is provided foc. Laundry service is available just besides the carpark. Most imp they have a big kitchen and sufficient sitting places. Heater is provided there as u wont feel cold eating in the winter. If u feel lazy to cook, there is a cafe there for u.

I don't like to give a bad review but this is possibly the worst hostel I've ever stayed in. It's cheap and the staff were very nice but that's about it. The place is so dirty! You have to make your own bed with sheets that really did smell like feet. Lots of long termers in there so you feel like youre invading their room a bit. The room was dirty and smelly even with the windows wide open and stuff all over the place. There's no indoor stair case so you have to exit the building in order to get upstairs. The kitchen is small and dirty and the only common area is a table which is basically in front of the reception desk. The toilets and showers were horrible. There's only one sink in one of the two showers. Dark, dingy and dirty. This place needs at the least a deep clean and at the most a complete renovation.

Friendly staff, my first hostel stay and was better than expected… the establishment felt much like a year 7 school camp. The bathroom had a leak somewhere we couldn't tell where it was coming from but the floor was always wet. The hostel is somewhat noise and the plumbing sounds as though it needs a bit of work — lots of pipe noises in the morning and at night time around shower time… too much pressure in the pipes bit if you don't mind a little noise it's a good place to stay in a awesome location.

Located right in the heart of west end. This resort is always teaming with different people to interact with which I think is ideal for backpackers. Then again. If you are looking for privacy, that is hard to find in a room that you share with 7 other's. Pricing is very decent for what it provides. The resort comes with a spa, pool and tennis court. Overall I think it's a very viable option for many people and I would definitely recommend it!

I was a long term resident here and have nothing but great memories! The staff are super awesome and really go the extra mile to make your stay as the best it can be. Shame about the price of washing but o well apart from that all round great hostel.

Buzzing place. Good size rooms and clean bathrooms. Add-on service hostel, meaning that apart from accommodation most other services cost a small fee. Can be noisy, especially in weekends. Extremely thin mattresses though. Good for one or two nights.

BBR is a very good hostel with friendly staff and a lot to do. If you're looking doe a quiet hostel, this isn't the place to go, but if you're up for good fun this is the place to be! The hostel is clean, has big rooms, free Wi-Fi at the reception area and a lot of activities to have a good time. The only downside for me was that the mattress was really thin, but you'll still sleep well.

Terrible experience, worst hostel I have ever stayed. I will try to make it short: dusty floor; dirty fridge; room price not including blanket (lol) ; only have thin blanket for rent, no thicker quilt (good luck to get through winter) ; extremely poor sound proofing, very noisy in morning like 7am onwards and night time until 12am, difficult to sleep well; one Saturday night some residents were even playing loud music and making noise til 2am (disregard the rule "no noise after midnight"), I called the reception and asked for help, he wasn't helpful, which was really disturbing cause we need to wake up quite early in next morning for flight but could not have a good rest. Mattresses are so thin when sleep on it your butt is touching the metal bed frame. Kitchen is dirty and has a bad smell. Not enough power plugs for to use, like, one plug for the fridge, and another one for a room of four? You must be kidding me. I will never come again and do not recommend.

What a great Hostel! Stayed a week while in Brisbane and had a great time, the Hostel is one of the cleanest and friendliest I've stayed in. The staff make this place and it has a great vibe. Reading some of the other comments here makes no sense other than to say they have no idea how bad some places are. This is a backpackers and it met all my expectations. Great job BBR, I'll be certainly back when I come back this way.

A once loved and cared for hostel lacks basic maintenence these days a great place to meet new people and in a great location but it needs to be maintained better.

After a long flight, its definitely the best place to get to and especially if its your first time in AUS. The staff is really nice and every little thing followed with a huge smile.

Just a place to stay overnight. Reasonably clean. It's a backpackers hostel — just a temporary place to sleep — not the Marriott hotel. If you're away on holiday you're probably spending most of your time outside anyway. No need to complain. At least you have a place to sleep. Helpful staff. Please be aware of towel hire and deposit fees before you camp in.

My stay was not particularly enjoyable. The place was not very clean, had a strange smell and the mattress had some VERY disturbing stains that I was uncomfortable sleeping above. I was initially shown to a room that had no one else staying in it, but a few minutes later the lady came back and informed me she had taken me to the wrong room. It was not a huge issue, but it contributed to my general impression of poor organisation. Would not recommend.

Could be more unlucky, in addition to Cheap, the room was full of smell… More people work visa's relationship, that's just tough.

Cheap rates. Heart of west end 10min walk to Southbank or the shops on boundary street. Rooms cleaned daily. Food/drink prices were slightly higher then expected. Matress was very uncomfortable and the least desirable part of entire stay. $8 for Wi-Fi and no AC in dorm until later in the year. Friendly staff.

Brisbane backpackers is the best place to stay. Staff very nice and rooms clean. Suburb West End, really cool. Swimming pool and lot of activities. Keep going!

Do not come here. WITHOUT A DOUBT THE WORST HOSTEL I'VE EVER STAYED IN I came all the way from England for my year abroad and wanted nothing more than a nice (ish) hostel just to rest my head before house hunting. But my room had mud everywhere, the thinnest sponge mattress I’ve ever seen, no lockers, and was cold as hell because of the french doors at the end of the room. And the smell, don't even get me started on that. I doubt it had been cleaned in weeks. They don't provide duvets or blanket of any kind and you have to rent one from the reception. Probably the worst thing is the price of Wi-Fi. $7 for 4 hours! And if you lose your password and user name (it gets printed on a receipt for you), you have to pay again. Please stay in the YHA hostel instead. I went there afterwards and it's the best hostel I've stayed in to date. It's only a few $'s more per week and well worth it.

The backpacker was not our cup of tea too. The price for our first week was attractive but not the same for next week so we left. We were in 8 beds dorm : the toilet had a problem with the leak. We had to wait almost one week to have a toilet which is working. Maybe there is only one plumber in Brisbane? The room was cleaned every day, not the bathroom. The kitchen was always dirty, and you have to leave your key to the reception to cook! The prices of the bar are EXPENSIVE! As in a bar, not a backpacker. We are not businessmen with 10000$ to spend every week. Internet is expensive as well. You have the free internet to the state library, 20min to walk! There are a pool, table tennis, which are good, the shuttle for the city is nice too. The staff is kind, except on once and we don't know why. There are activities every night : quizz, pool…
