On Saturday 11th Of May, we had 24 people from malaysia and we booked 11 rooms. We experienced bad customer service by the night shift workers yelling at my family and I.
We were told to leave the hotel and continued to be yelled at. We always choose this hotel when staying in sydney, but after this I will choose somewhere else to stay. … Very disappointed.

We stayed here for 5 nights recently when we went to the Capitol theatre. I wasn’t expecting anything other than the three stars we paid for so was quite happy. The bed was comfy, staff were friendly and although the bathroom could do with updating, but it’s not the most important thing. The brekky buffet could probably do with a vegetable option added like tomatoes and mushrooms like most have but that’s really my only complaint. We also booked through booking. Com and it cle…arly stated check in is 2 pm and checkout is 11. Pretty standard really. Lucky for us, the receptionist knew we were catching a train back to Brisbane later in the afternoon and gave us a late check out of 1pm. If you are expecting high class posh detail, pay for it and stay elsewhere but if you want comfortable, convenient and friendly, I would recommend. I would stay here again.

Stayed one night, the room was very dusty and bathroom smaller and different than shown in photos. Booked through booking. Com and when we checked in were not told a check out time. Booking. Com app told me that check out was 2pm, at 11am we were awoken to the phone constantly ringing and a housekeeper walking into our room while we were sleeping telling us to get out. Would not stay here again.

My first visit to this hotel stay. It feels like some old fashioned hotel. One best thing is the responsive staff who answer your queries politely and up to the point. I see the room (s) is small compared to other hotels I stayed in India. Located in the walkable distance from Central train station, capitol theatre, shoppings, ANZ Bank and a beautiful and vast park. Very easy to notice from the normal traffic but located in the corner road. Wheelchair accessible entrance and mode of payment is cash and cards. They maintain rooms, bathroom and building clean and tidy. Not sure of family stay, but singles can prefer.

The hotel is located in a good spot, and you get what you need. Nothing fancy just a reasonable bed and a neat room.

Stayed 2 nights and it was comfortable and clean. Aircon worked well, bathroom clean and nice hot shower. Bed nice and comfortable. No street noise. Staff were friendly and helpful. Central to everything and well priced. Lots of attractions within walking distance. Fantastic restaurant Chat Thai across the road — worth the wait in line!

My family had stayed in this hotel for 3 days for their Sydney tour. Do not book this hotel if your tour start in the morning before 7:15 because breakfast starts after 7 and you will the not allowed for breakfast if you are leaving early and your kind request not work for this. Just asking to warm the milk for kid will charge you extra money. They literally ask for $2 for just warm up the milk.

Location is good. Very good. Comapred to proice, rooms are not good. Old furnitures. Internet connection is poor In the rooms. Could be better and staffs should have been more friendly.

Pretty tiny rooms and no balcony. Perfect for just sleeping.

It's ok as a bare essentials hotel, brekkie isn't amazing either, rather basic. Staff very friendly though.

The room was spacious and the beds comfortable, but the bathroom was cramped and a bit dank. The air conditioning also didn't adequately counter the humidity.

Booked two rooms last week while attending a concert in the city. So close to everything we needed, the staff fantastic, rooms lovely and clean and roomy. And also look after your luggage for no charge while you’re out for the day after checking out. Will definitely stay here again. Thank you to the staff at The Capitol Square for our stay. Elizabeth.

Cheap rooms in a good location. But do not expect much from rooms! Small, smelly with no open window!

Vey Very disappointed. Booked for 2 nights 3 days through internet two days ago. Checked in Saturday lunch time and went to the room. Room and barhroom were too small to compare website photos. Absolutely small. I came down to reception, requested to cancel whole booking, but the gentleman at the reception said it can only be cancelled Sunday booking. And said Saturday room rate is more than $350 per night so he can only refund Sunday booking which is about $125. I already paid full amount when I checked in. I asked why there are big difference in price for Sat and Sunday and he said Saturday room rate is normally more than $400. Didn’t bother to argue with a man and checked out with refund $125. Not even a bottle of water supplied for room charge of $350. Had to Pay $7 for two bottles of water! Found 5 star hotel in city for Sunday night and cost me $220 with Darling Habour view. Please check room rate for individual night and room layout before check in Capitol Squate Hotel…

After reading some other reviews this my take on the Capital Square Hotel.
I found the buffet breakfast very good.
The air-conditioning worked very well for us.
Never heard the elevator unless I was waiting for it.
The room was neat and clean and the staff were very good.

Every time the lift moved up to my floor it felt like a freight train was coming through the wall.

Rooms are tidy enough, but it was clear that the room I was in needed a refurbishment. The furniture has had a hard life, the bathroom was very tired with chipped and broken tiles etc. Nothing major and for the price it's very comfortable, just in need of a refurb.

Average Hotel — very good service, nice and cheep just rooms are looking old and quite damaged.

Extremely dirty rooms. No toiletries provided. Cockroaches. For $250+ per night?! This place is a racket! Response: You shouldn't just be cleaning the rooms when customers post photos online. Those photos showed just a fraction of how bad the rooms are kept. You can rectify it any time by having the room cleaned.

Great old pub in the heart of Haymarket. Good to pop in for a bevvy pre or post show at the Capitol Theatre.

The rooms are realy warn down. Need too. Nice location but the rest is not worth the money.

We were very dissapointed with our room, it was very small and also the bathroom was tiny. The bath is very small and the shower feels like a trickle. The inside of the bathroom door looked to be like someone rubbed there fingers along the door with poo! And also was very dirty and under the toilet seat had pee all over it. We upgraded to a balcony room which I was very disspointed as 1. It is only roughly 1.5 ft wide. 2. No table and chairs 3. It was very old and you could see straight through to the neighbours balcony. The lift was dirty, old and gets the shakes up. The wall beside the bed had which looked like grease and marks everywhere. I also contacted the office to let them know of my issues and nothing was resolved. Overall I would rate the hotel 1-2 stars.

Great atmosphere and vibe. Good place to have a few drinks with friends.

Really old dated hotel. Cheap 3 star. Rooms old & tired. Clean but not to a great standard because of the age. Need new clean carpet, Bathroom poorly designed, needs revamp. Tarted up as best as they can for it's age. Bed in our small room adequate, aircon heating didn't work. $19 pp Restaurant breakfast limited, pretty ornery. Cold food not much variety, need to wear warm clothes because it's virtually outside. Very pleasant staff. Better to risk it in one of the many and varied restaurants in the immediate area. Perfect location right against the Capitol Theatre. Cheap car park right next door. Close to St Peter Julian Catholic Church, Haymarket, restaurants coffee shops World Square Shopping Precinct. Couldn't ask for a better position in the south end of the CBD. But that's about the only good thing! But if you want cheap… 'what you see is what you get' Flip Wilson.

No Drop-off zone for removing Luggages. Good luck finding on-street parking in Busy CBD during peak hour. There are better options in same region, competitively priced with better services.

Have stayed here on 10-15 occasions. Very central, Chinatown & Paddys Markets are on your door step. Hotel is always clean & tidy. Staff are always obliging, to help with anything. Great if you are going to a show, at the Capitol Theatre, it is right next door. Generally, the room rates are reasonable. Always happy to return.

I stayed in a Queen room and it was very clean and comfortable. Its easily accessible to Museum station or Central station. I highly recommend this place.

Room was small, but manageable and clean. Good location as it is close to several shops, restaurants, the train station and attractions. Did not like the breakfast menu and ended up eating from out during the latter part of the stay.

Receptionist was lovely and helpful. After declining two rooms offered finally accepted third one. We saw that the hotel is being renovated and there is no way the room we got had been renovated. Bathroom certainly needs updating and a good clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast selection looked good but was hardly warm, certainly not hot. Great location next to Capitol Theatre but won't be staying there again. The photos of rooms are NOT what you get.

Receptionist was great, very helpful. Hotel being renovated, I do hope the room we got wasnt one of the rooms they say has been renovated. Breakfast was good selection, but cold, need to check on that occasionally. Great location near to Capitol Theatre, photos on internet dont match what you get though.

Affordable, clean and friendly staff. Also parking was really convenient.

Good value and location, close to China town and city. Many eateries close by. Room is average size, bathroom is clean but bit old fashioned. Overall it's fine for a weekend city get away.

Stopped by for a quick visit to see friends here. Looks like a decent hotel at its price range.

The first room we went to wasn't clean — glass rings on the furniture, mould in the bathroom and dirty vanity sink. I asked to be moved and was ungracious accomodated.

Extremely rude staff at this hotel would not recommend. Coming from melbourne booked through expedia with them being fantastic THIS hotel was not they were contacted as we needed to cancel but still charged us for 2 nights at peak price Got a call from the hotel with the guy saying this is just a courtesy call asking why we haven't checked in and told me to go sort it out and its too bad we will be changing you for both nights and hung up absolutely discussing service.
