I had the most wonderful stay. They've got a really good rate compared to nearby hotels. The staff are all so friendly. My room was really comfortable and the view from it was stunning. Pool was in great condition, enjoyed swimming there. I'd consider staying here again in the future.

Great location, clean basic 3 star hotel. Courteous staff with reasonable pricing. Suitable for families, all rooms do not have step free access. Recommended under value for money, good place to stay with a weekend market 2 mins away.

Older style hotel, resting gently amongst buildings of similar style and architectural facades and conveniently located near a train station, bus stop, cafes and supermarkets. Be prepared. This is not your gleaming, brand new, stylishly modern hotel with all mod-cons, but rather a genteel, laid back, quirky establishment which has seen many years of use and is unapologetic about showing its age and heritage. There are many wings, stairs, corridors, lifts and levels so take note of this, else finding your way back to your room after a night out at nearby Kings Cross night spots could get challenging. I like this place and have stayed here many times because I appreciate its genteel charm and that it evokes images of Kings Cross seeder past history. But don't be alarmed this area is now very gentrified with apartments and newer high-rise and I have found it quite safe. The best rooms are higher levels nearer to the back and with nice views across the harbour at sunrise. Front rooms lower down tend to gather in the street traffic noise which doesn't seem to let up all Fri/Sat nights. If you like or even find excitement in other decade charms, can negotiate stairs, easily navigate multiple level corridors, find tiny lifts quaint and are looking for a (very) economical price, this place is for you. Oh yeah, the view from the top floor conference room, breakfast area and restrooms in the mornings is worth the price of breakfast, especially if its included in the room price.

The experience is very bad, Wi-Fi is also charged. The faucet is not closed, the water flow is very small. Luggage handling is very inconvenient, if the luggage is more, can put people to exhaustion. Air conditioning noise is very loud. Traffic is not convenient. I won't be living here again next time.

Good value for money good spot.

The overall condition of the hotel is good. It’s clean, in good location. Just that it needs a little bit of climbing of staircases with your luggage.

If you get room 4.28 demand to be changed to another room before leaving reception. It's smelly and noisy the noise is from the lift clunking away 24/7 and the light that comes into the room is bad from another light in the hotel that is on all night. Over priced for what you pay for. Not impressed and will never be back. Staff friendly for sure best thing going for this place and location from Kings cross station is a short walk but don't waste your money or demand a room away the lifts. You have been warned! Further to this the lock on the inside of the door is broken and looks like it has been broken for quite some time. They really need to give the room I was in some TLC can't answer for others rooms. Really disappointed and I am not a fussy person but when a room stinks and is noisy by a lift shaft right next to the room not impressed and how they can even charge for the room is beyond me.

Good location. Price performance is not right! Too expensive 8 — Tunt when booking inside room no outside window, very location and outdated. Would this hotel never reflected in booking. COM booking.

Basic rooms that are in need of updating. They seemed to be clean. Hallways and stairs were very grubby. Breakfasts were good and the young lady who greeted you in the breakfast room was very pleasant.

The whole hotel shows major wear and tear. Not all rooms have airconditioning and there is a very strange smell present everywhere. The staff were pleasant bit I found the hotel to be very uncomfortable.

The location is really good. Bus connection top. Bars, restaurants, entertainment and supermarket as well as shopping mile within walking distance. Very old hotel. No minibar. No possibility to buy drinks in the hotel. We exhibited air conditioning because it only blew warm air. Breakfast was okay if the claim was kept low. Staff unfortunately overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the simplest things were missing. E. G. Plates, napkins, cups. On request we were told that dishes must be washed first. Room and bathroom was cleaned regularly. Have booked the hotel for three days, as part of a package tour. In our tour group were some elderly people who have done very hard with the many stairs. So I would say this is not old fair. Let alone the wheelchair.

Me & my family just back from Sydney August, 2017, we stay in DeVere Hotel, Kings Cross in 3 separate rooms for 4 nights. What do we expect from an old 3 star hotel? I am very satisfied with the hotel & room facilities, internet Wi-Fi, staffs and the breakfast. The only one need to improve is the bed. I was surprise with the scenery from outside my room (attached herewith) and photo nearby the hotel. It was an amazing experience & we love it. Might come back one day…

From Namiwa Ho ~ Hong Kong 13 December 2017 to 15 December 2017. Super Small Room — Devere Hotel Sydney is my last station of my 19 Days journey in Australia. I live at Devere Hotel which is located at 44-46 Macleay Street. I book the hotel for 2 nights during 13 December 2017 to 15 December 2017, my room number is 207. The price is HK$820 per night. Hotel location is quite good and convenience. There are so many shops and restaurants nearby. As well as train is by walking distance. However the room is really too small, not much space, after putting your baggage, you do not have space for walk through the toilet. The most inconvenience is there are few steps before you can take a lift to the room. When you enter the lobby of the hotel, you carry with your so heavy luggage but you need to walk few steps to get into the lift for your room. It is quite tried and inconvenience. Inside the room, tea bags, coffee, boiling pot are available. Wifi is not free of charge. It charge Aud$15 per day. Hotel lobby is quite nice with sitting sofa and many one day local tour brochers are available for taking. The most appreciation is staff' services, especially Samuel who is so pofessional, helpful, nice, courteous, polite and serve guests whole heartly. He is so patients to tackle guests problems. He provides me all the transportation information and teaches me how to get to my destination points, as well as he borrows me an Opal card for taking train.

Benefits revolve around being the cheapest place in Potts Point. Other than that it needs some love. Time has forgotten this little place, carpets and decor outdated, air con didn't work in one of ourselves rooms. Could feel the springs in my mattress and we both sank to the middle of the bed through the night.

My room no 428 looked like the jail cell…

The hotel was quiet and we'll maintained, though an older style. Our room, a Superior double, had a great view toward the centre of the city. Staff were friendly and the buffet breakfast was good… on the 5th floor with a view over the city. For a one night stay, that wasn't too expensive, it was a good option, with lots of restaurants nearby.

Then you have to lift your case again to get to a lift to your room. So weird I've never heard of a hotel set out like this. If any improvements were to happen this would have to take priority. Especially for older people.

Decent place with a good size room but unfortunately the older building creaks and groans, forcing you to listen in on every movement on the floor above you. Also, the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. Get a top floor suite and avoid breakfast and this is a fine place for a few nights.

Nothing too flash. I'd you're looking for a cost effective place to stay this is a good choice.

Punched above its weight for the price. Clean and the complimentary full breakfasts were great. A little tired in some places but price and general location made for a good holiday. The only negative was it was a little noisy in our room at the front of the building. Probably not like that towards the back. Free Wi-Fi and a good view included. Would stay there again but would want a rear facing room.

A decent enough hotel based near key icons and famous places in Sydney. The rooms are clean and made every day of you want them too. Wi-Fi is free of you book a room. Rooms are quite old especially in the bathroom. Water sometimes drips from the tap on it's own and lights exceptionally dirty with dead bugs and other things crawling around in it. I would recommend if staying for a few days although there is room for improvement.

Quite cheap, rooms are clean but for some reason internet connection is very weak and staff aren’t very helpful.

It just smelled, no air circulation. Great service and seemed clean.

Convenient, friendly and reasonably priced.

If you want somewhere to stay that is half decent do not stay here. Worst experience ever Arrival the lady at reception was rude and unhelpful you could tell she did not want to be there. Once we got up to our room via stairs not helpful if you have big bags/suitcases it was tiny our room lights didn't work just a lamp, the bathroom tap constantly dripped, one of our beds was on a constant lean where we had to sleep with 2 pillows behind our back to not roll off, the place was very outdated from what the photos showed. We paid extra for the buffet breakfast where the food was always cold and stale and there was never enough of one thing, and to top it off we found glass on our plate and sourcer which little shards of glass was in my hand, when approached the so called manager she dismissed it and said it's fine and was rude and didn't care at all. I understand people have bad days but take some responsiablty for the fact there was glass through our plates. We were offered a late check out in compensation when we couldn't get out fast enough.

Rooms are ok. Wifi weak and breakfast not so good. Better not include it when booking. Best go to a cafe. Hotel situated in a good area. Staff is very helpful.

The only good thing about the hotel is its location, otherwise the carpet in the room is damaged and dilapidated, smell of stale on arrival, unlovable staff. In short to avoid if possible.

The room was clean and very nice. There was nobody to great us at the front rest the front desk on arrival, but they had an envelop with our room info in it ready to be picked up. Full kitchen and a large TV were great to have. Would definitely stay here again.

Well located with easy travel to either Bondi or the CBD. Reasonably priced (I went for the package with breakfast included). Decor a bit tired, but staff could not be more helpful. Good value for money.

Was not what I was expecting at all. Our room was upgraded which was an absolutly wonderful surprise although I did leavee wondering how the original room we booked was seeing as from the lobby everything looks very dated (I love Antique's but there's a line) the carpet was horribly worn an stained. Staff were ok, apart from having no policy & procedure knowledge. Also possibly the 3.5 star rating may have been vaild 12 years ago but not today…

Decent hotel, good location (close to CBD, many restaurants nearby, 2 supermarkets nearby). The landscape on the ground floor needs to be modified, difficult to carry heavy luggage to the lift (lift is located on the upper part of ground floor, so not convenient carrying heavy stuff or even for old folks to and fro the lift). But I like the family room, it's big and have small kitchen section.

Older style hotel, no lift, so it cops a lot of bad reviews. The staff have always been friendly and polite, the rooms are large and clean and the prices are more than reasonable for the area. My favourite hotel when I am staying in the Sydney CBD area because it is close enough to the CBD to catch a bus or train, and also close enough to the Cross, but not too close.

Decent accommodation close to cbd. The rooms needed a bit of renovation but the service was awesome. If you need a cheap room to stay for a few days close to transportation, shopping etc then this is your place.

The most disgusting hotel ever! The place is foul and they are thiefs carefull leaving ur credit card details, I was charged $495 after checking out, these people are theives! warning to all tourists I shall be taking this further.

This is a budget hotel. But clean. There are different quality levels for the rooms. The more you pay, the better it is. I've stayed in the dungeon, but I've also stayed in their 4 floor room with a nice view of Sydney Harbor. This is my 4th stay here in the last 2 years. Expect budget accomodations and you won't be disappointed.

Clean, simple, great location in the heart of King's Cross. Only complaint is $4 / hr Wi-Fi. That's why my "poor" rating for facilities.
