Pro's: Heated rooms, spacious common areas, clean and tidy, lamp at the bed side and takes card payments (when the internet works) Cons: Paper thin bedroom walls that move if pressed (old house side), small beds (child size), small kitchen with one fridge for over 40 guests, barely any Wi-Fi if it works at all. El Chalten is such a beautiful place with lots to see and this large and recently extended hostel was a disappointment in all honesty. It looks very modern and impressive upon arrival, the newer development built around 5 years ago is now the entrance and reception. The smaller side which is the original house has several rooms, a few bathrooms, the small kitchen and eating area. Our room was no. 5, a twin room upstairs in the old side. A small room with 2 small single beds and just enough room for our bags and a thin walkway down the middle. Typical of many hostels in Patagonia, usually small and cramped to maximise profit. There was a shared single male and shared female bathroom upstairs each with one toilet and a shower serving 4 rooms of up to 12 people. The one radiator in the bedroom provided plenty of heat and we were never cold in the room. They provided towels and sachets of shampoo and conditioner with a small bar of soap. We stayed in early April which is the shoulder season and paid a reduced price of 660 ($33USD) pesos per night for the room, usually 800 pesos ($40USD).

When you come to spend your day at Fitz Roy you will enjoy spending a night in this hotel, comfortable, quiet.
The bedding is of very good quality.
Wi-Fi also as in most hotels.
Practical Info, come with your cash in your pocket, the only cash distributor we found on the spot at a prohibitive withdrawal fee.

Rooms are rather small and dark but the common areas are spacious and inviting.

Stayed here several nights over a period of a couple weeks. Good facilities, friendly staff and decent Wi-Fi.

Youth hostel to recommend without hesitation! Very friendly and staff always very available, the lobby of the hostel is superb. The individual rooms are very good, the common places type toilet and bathroom are simple but very clean. The kitchen is functional but not huge… we were there off holiday period so we had no worries but if the hostel is full it can certainly be a bit long to cook.
The hostel is located about ten minutes walk from the departure of the various hiking trails leaving for the Fitz Roy and surroundings.

Clean rooms with lockers, good shower, nice kitchen, plenty of space in the common areas. Nice and friendly staff.

The rooms are small, the bathroom is ok, very good water pressure to bathe, cleanliness is adequate. The Internet connection signal is from zero to none at times. The reception is very nice, the receptionist very attentive at all times. Prices are cheap if compared to other lodgings in El Chaltén.

Really nice place to stay with plenty of areas to relax in. Better Wi-Fi then other places in El Chalten. Stayed in a dorm which was good then upgrade to private double after a long hike. The breakfast included with this option was outstanding — best we have had on our travels so far! Highly recommended.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the Internet was not working on the first floor. But the attention is very good and the rooms are fine.

Beautiful Hostal with really nicely laid out dorms. There is also MANY different areas for people to sit and socialise with a TV as well. The only issue was the bathrooms were a little grubby (but the showers were super warm) The kitchen is very small for the amount of guests also so it can be a squeeze at times. The Wi-Fi was the worst I've ever experienced also but we were warned about this beforehand and is the fault of the town, not the Hostal. Otherwise, we had a fantastic stay here and I can't be happier about the beds and how comfy they were (especially as the blankets were also provided for those especially cold nights).

Large rooms, good beds, great kitchen, very clean bathrooms, and comfy lounge areas. A great place to kick back and relax after a long day on the trek to Mt Fitzroy. Great staff too. Location only 10 mins walk from the bus station, although that sums up the whole of El Chalten. Across the road from 'Beer and Burgers', a fairly good place for a post walk pint or two. Burgers here are simple but good too. Turn right from the hostel and a couple of minutes is 'La Cerveceria', a really nice little restaurant with an organic ethos. Really chilled out. A bit more lively is 'La Tapera'. It's on Chalten's third street that some people miss entirely, because it's not on the way to the station, or to the trails. Really popular in the evening so try calling ahead. Plenty of other choices, though I doubt some places are open between June and September due to lack of demand.

Nice hostel, helpful staff and a good location. Good kitchen as well. Wifi not the best.

This hostel is located in the main street and close to Fitz Roy trail, which was convenient given we arrived here after the hike to Laguna de los tres. The private room is clean and cheap, and the staff is friendly. The only downside is the Wi-Fi that didn't work well but that's city wide.

Good facilities. However, overpriced. Unfortunately Staff couldn't give good Restaurant Tipps. Breakfast was better compared to other hostels.

Some years ago I was at this hostel and my experience was very good in every way. A place to live good times.

Excellent hostel also has rooms with a private bathroom. Attention first-and very good advice for walks to perform a function of climate. 100 % recommended.

Excellent place and the attention of all employees superlatiba, all very affectionate with the guests and always willing to provide so you have a well. It appears attended by its owners.
