Storm Eunice raged, the computers were down, but the staff were friendly & helpful and the food was delicious!

Lovely stay and dinner, very friendly team who made us welcome.

Had lunch there today very helpful and friendly staff my husband is coeliac so reduced choices off the menu but the meal was delicious we will be back next time we are visiting Southwold.

Great food, but watch the big and generous portions. Four Adnams cask ales on hand pulls, plus a good selection of wines. Hotel room was clean and recently done up, with loads of complimentary stuff, such as water, beer and crisps. Parking available for hotel guests. An ideal overnight base for a brewery tour at Adnams.

Lovely room in a historic hotel right in the centre of town, walk to the beach and all amenities. Delicious food and friendly accommodating staff. Highly recommended.

Lovely food and wine in a relaxing atmosphere.

There is quite a selection of “modern” dishes on the menu and a good portion size. The Beef Tagine was especially delicious, the beef just melted in your mouth! The staff were very friendly and attentive so no waiting between courses. I just was expecting the decor and table and chairs to be different from other pubs to make it a special dining experience.

Ok for a £10 Crab sandwich but could have been nicer with a decent garnish not acceptable to put 3 lettuce leaves! Good beer/ lager/ wines.

Well one man waiter said no specials and we were only shown one menu. When we saw the desert menu it had specials on it main course. Young lady waitress So please 're educate the man waiter we had booked a table for four.

The rooms here are very nice however ours came with a seagull on the roof that made for a very poor nights sleep as it was too hot to shut the window. It's an Adnams owned hotel so don't expect much other choice on tap in bar. A good choice of food on the menu in the restaurant and not too expensive.

Popped in for a quick drink while waiting for last bus. A nice cool half pint on tap in their reasonably small back bar. Cannot comment on the other parts which seemed nicely set up for restaurant style.

A lovely place to have lunch or dinner. Although, I slightly preferred 'The Swan' to 'The Crown'.

Nice pub/ restaurant! Lovely service, and really good, tasty food — perfect steaks! A little pricey for us but seems the standard for eating in Southwold so expect to pay a little more wherever. What let it down? Well some pretty awful customers who have no manners… despite (possible) status and money. But kudos to the staff who smiled and went above and beyond.

Great food. Not much atmosphere early in the night. Service a bit odd. But always great food here.

Had an awful meal tonight. I ordered lamb and although I know lamb is fatty, my meal was inedible. I left most of my meal and when my partner explained that we were unhappy got a patronising response that I had ordered the lamb. There was no apology and all that was offered was a drink off the bill after my partner asked — they didn't even take off the full drink just the mixer!

We've eaten here several times and the food has always been good. The service was good too.

Snuck in just before last orders for lunch, and were still accommodated for comfortably despite being the last hangers on as they were clearing tables for the evening serving. Very enjoyable food, would recommend.

Had a great time at the Crown. Relaxing drink. Good range of beers and wine. We didn't eat this time but the menu looks good.

Had lunch on a Sunday, the restaurant was very busy but the service was not affected. Food was really good, being so close to the sea we all had fish. As it's an adnams pub the beer was of a very high quality.

Delicious high quality food in a lovely setting. I had their vegetarian saffron arancini and it was delicious! Others on our table had their roast chicken dinner, the prawn burger and the ruben and all loved theirs.

Only had coffee in the back bar but friendly and cosy.

Had lots of great meals previously but yesterday's lunch not good. Previous dishes we'd enjoyed removed from menu eg battered fish, ham egg & chips. Expensive steak we ordered good but took ages to arrive despite almost empty restaurant, arrived without bernaise sauce & the fried duck egg absolutely frazzled, not impressed this time & will probably go elsewhere in the future.

Very disappointing. Room 15 and we felt like the people in the bar below were in the room with us — so intrusive was the noise. I would certainly not recommend this hotel and would not return.

For once, a half decent meal, albeit the beef was pretty tough. Staff as efficient, helpful and pleasant as always. Did the roast beef justify the £17.50 price tag? No not really! Hey ho, that's Southwold!

We had a great stay. The Crown has definitely upped their game since we were last here. One nice touch was an on the spot non alcoholic creation from the bar person. There's no quiet outside space. Lots of stairs so be warned!

The Superior Room we stayed in was perfect except for the lack of shower (although the roll top free standing bath was rather lovely) Our evening meal (the best meal I have had in a long time) and breakfast were rather lovely, equalled by the pleasant and courteous service from the waiting staff. The location in the heart of Southwold is perfect for a spot of retail therapy, jaunt on the beach and pier, coffee and cake, a pint (or two) of Adnams, the brewery tour or a walking along the coast and inland. It's amazing what one can pack into two days in Southwold. You won't be disappointed if you stay at The Crown.

Good food, 1 vegan option and gluten free bread available. Good service, beautiful setting, all round nice place.

We had drinks outside then decided to have dinner with the children, luckily got the last table as it was fully booked on a Saturday evening, all the food was lovely and the staff were very friendly and attentive, the only thing I will say is the children's menu was £10 for 3 courses, which was fine, however the main and dessert portion sizes were way too big and my girls being 8&9 left half of their main and dessert which I felt was a waste, I would rather have paid £6/7 each and they had less food, for older children it would have been fine, but still great value for money, highly recommended.

Location was spot on, food lovely and service brilliant. We sat outside and the dog had a fuss made of him.

Comfortable and extremely welcoming Room was spacious and comfortable with a separate lounge. Met a number of staff who were all very helpful, smiley and cheery. Full English breakfast is a must!

As always fantastic service, great food and exceptional drinks menu. Southwold is beautiful and this establishment complements the visit. We have had many a great meal here and even more beers and wines (Adnams broadside on tap you can't get any better). Love it and will be back hopefully very soon. Well done all who make this place special.

Great restaurant on the high street, expect great food and service with a price to match. The specials are worth checking out, but the steak is always a strong choice for those looking for a good red-blooded dinner.

This is a brilliant hotel. The rooms are a luxurious treat. The back bar is an old fashioned snug and the restaurant serves awesome food.

Had possibly one of the best meals we have had in Southwold during our stay this week! Staff very informative about the wine/drinks menu and the delicious food menu too. Attentive staff with a smile, great food, delicious, hot and great ambience. Book ahead, otherwise you might be disappointed!

Love the place and the seaside But a ghost kept me up all night.

Wonderful menu, excellently cooked food, warm atmosphere. Expensive but worth the treat.

Went for evening meal, booking cock-up and made to wait. Waitress didn't speak or understand English very well. Ordered wine and was presented with a totally different one, Food average and not cooked as requested. Would I eat here again! What do you think.

Recently renovated rooms and excellent service in a genteel town make for a great weekend away.

Lovely ambience, excellent food, excellent and very friendly service. I can very much recommend the Pan Fried King Prawns, the Roast Hake Fillet, and the Pistachio and Olive Oil Sponge. Sadly couldn't sample their lovely wines as I was driving. I'm afraid I have to contradict Claire — the portions are just right! Any bigger, and you wouldn't be able to have a three-course meal without major bellyaching afterwards. Anyway, this is not food for the ravenous (who might be better off filling up at that nice chippie's in Aldeburgh, who is apparently the best in the area), this is food to be savoured and enjoyed at leisure. The London prices are not really a surprise for food that could compete with London cuisine.

The Service and Staff were outstanding. Loved the ambience. Its normally busy and the food tasty but the portions are pathetic. This is no reflection on the Chef. Food was tasty and well presented but the food could easily fit onto a small saucer plate. Forget the dinner plate the portion is lost on the plate. There is NO 'Whow' factor sadly. The portions are only barely enough on your plate to feed a sparrow! There is no 'Value for money' and Adnams management should be ashamed of their ability to 'rip off' their customers. Grossly over rated. Go for the experience not the quantity of food and expect to pay London Prices and more! Go to The Wentworth Hotel or any restaurant in Aldeburgh. And have a superb meal, its worth the journey.
