Fabulous meal with friendly and helpful staff. Even camped over in the large car park with microcamper. Will definitely return.

Sunday lunch yesterday was lovely puddings yum brilliant service from the young staff. The place definitely needs some TLC though.

Went for a family meal today. Staff were very accommodating to our party which included plenty of kids and dogs. Great food, great service and manager was spot on. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed our last minute stay this bank holiday. Very accommodating for our family of 4, the kids had a bunk bed in our room. Beds were very comfy, room was gorgeous and clean with plenty of towels, toiletries, tea & coffee.
Breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from.

The Vegetarian Hotpot only contained lentils and mushrooms and was very salty and very small, also the cabbage was nearly cold.
The staff were not friendly and sat us in a small area next to a very big dog and we had to ask to sit in the restaurant area.
A very disappointing meal before our drive home after we’d had a lovely few days in Skipton.

Delicious food beautifully presented. Helpful, friendly staff in a nice, clean environment in a lovely setting. Perfect place to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary.

We are doing an overnight stay in our VW camper. What a gorgeous view over the Dales. Really lovely staff and great service during our visit.

Food cooked to order, very fresh. Great menu and alterative menu to the regular type. Great staff, very friendly and courteous. All food home made, very hot when served.

Been a few times and never disappointed, food is always fantastic and staff are so welcoming and friendly. We will be back soon.

We eat at A LOT of county pubs while travelling in our camper van. Usually we’re disappointed with the food and have almost come to expect a poor meal. This place has restored some confidence in country pubs! Firstly it has a really big flat car park, ideal for spending a night. EHU is available which is a bonus. All of the food we ordered from the starters to the deserts was exceptional. It was all home cooked and decent portions. The staff were friendly and the price was very reasonable for the quality of food. We will be staying here again next time we’re up north. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed a free lunch courtesy of a FB competition today and couldn't be happier. We ordered starters and a bottle of red wine in addition to the complimentary Sunday roast. The portion size is ample and food is well-presented. Staff were attentive and very friendly. My only criticism was the lack of atmosphere in the main dining room, despite being quite full when we arrived, although this could be Covid-related, of course, as music and guest numbers have to be regulated. However, a couple of thoroughly pleased chaps, thank you!

Chloe is fabulous and managed our Wedding Day fantastically.
Everything was about us having our perfect day. Everything we wanted we got and it was no problem at all. They set out the room just how we wanted are were extremely Covid safe with everything we did.
We really thought that a pandemic wedding would be stressful but the team made us feel safe at all times.
The freshly cooked food was amazing all weekend. The night before we ate of the very lovely menu. Everyone in our Wedding party said the food was the best they had in a long time. There was nothing left on our plates by the end of it. The breakfast was really good and great value. You could tell it was local and fresh. The chips, oh my God how good are they!
The accomodation was amazing too. The newly refurbished bedrooms were very nice to stay in.
I can not recommended this place enough!
I'd give it 10 out of 10.

Again to all staff thanks for making our special day so special and stress free.

Second time for us here. Great food last weekend. Lovely tea, camped in the car park in the camper van, then back inside for a cooked breakfast in the morning! Very friendly staff. We will be returning.

Stayed here in our motorhome last week. Lovely big carpark beautiful views, great food and friendly staff. What more could you want.

Just had two great nights, this was our third visit and always book the same room. Lovely surprise to see the refurbishment. The breakfasts were delicious and Mick and the rest of the team are all very welcoming and helpful. We booked in for a meal on Saturday night which again was delicious. It’s a beautiful area and lots to do and see. Thank you again for all your hard work and wish you all the best xx.

Went today for sister birthday. All food was tasty and wonderful. Staff were friendly and courteous. Value for money average price for well prepared food. Only wish we'd tried a pudding.

Lovely place to stop after a long walk. Lovely friendly staff, cosy pub, reasonably priced. Had the sunday carvery, homemade yorkshire puds and meats were lovely, beef, pork and honey roast ham, however the vegetables and roasties were tasteless and barely luke warm which was disappointing.

Very basic could do with complete new decor everywhere, very drab
which is probably why they don't show them in the advert!
However The pub and lounges where more welcoming and the food was lovely.

I had a lovely meal this afternoon. It was great that I could take my 3 little hairy dogs in with me. They were petted by one of the staff members, which they loved, and it was nice to see she went straight for the hand sanitiser then before continuing her work. I had a really nice cheese and onion pie with mash and greens. It was very tasty though I have to say there was a gentleman nearby with what looked like it mught have been a whole whale and chips. I was very envious if him! The fish was huge and the batter looked golden and crunchy and the hand cut chips looked lush. For dessert, I had the Craven Eton Mess which was very nice… the strawberries were so delicious — sweet and fruity (it's hard to find strawberries that taste these days).
All in all, I was very pleased with my meal and the welcome I received. I was passing and saw the words DOGS WELCOME on their sign so stopoed and decided to give them a go. I will definitely be going there again when I return to this part if the world.

I’ve just been at 5:30pm and got a carvery with my family members! The food was absolutely shocking I am so upset to even take my family members there! I will definitely not be coming back. The food was all scraggy! They was no meat left! The chef wasn’t very polite! I’ve just paid 60 pound for 5 drinks/ 5 carverys and that was the worst 60 pound of my life… it’s absolutely disgusting I will definitely not recommend it! Never ever! I wouldn’t even feed my poor dogs the food. I am so upset with it!

I do not often do reviews. However after such a great experience I thought would put pen to paper (fingers to keys! ).
Since the new management has taken over we have not been in. This is for no other reason than my good lady had a baby 7 months ago and been a bit busy. As a couple we have always enjoyed eating out and the last few time we had been (last management) were no all that great.
However, what a change. The place is very warm and welcoming. It feels cleaner and less fussy. The staff were very engaging and helpful. The food was bang on. We did not feel rushed and the draft beer was spot on. All these points are good but this last one is the one which means we shall definitely be going back very soon… It is FAMILY friendly! When I say this I mean that our 7 month old was welcome and looking around the place almost every group there had children from babies upwards.
Obviously this is a big thing for us at the moment and trust me when I say that there are many places in Skipton that might advertise they are family friendly but the reality is they are when it is convenient for them. I will leave that there.
I will finish by saying that I would highly recommend The Craven Heifer and will very back very soon. Thank you.

The place and the staff are great, attentive and polite. I wish I could have given this place 5 stars but just a few little things … first to say the beef was perfect and the Yorkshire puds delicious but the cabbage was a tad dry (maybe it was just because it was the last bit? ) and the roast potatoes were terrible! They tasted like the frozen variety, I did ask and was told they were home made, but they were not nice! Also asked for drinks at the table and was told that I needed to go to the bar to order.
The dessert was delicious … gooseberry Creme brûlée and sticky toffee pudding cannot be recommended highly enough x please sort your roast potatoes and gravy out and we will be there every weekend x.

We had Afternoon Tea which was Excellent! The quality of the food was first class. Would definitely recommend it.

Very warm friendly welcome. They helped us check in early as we had to get to a wedding. The room was simple with a stunning view. We got fresh milk to make drinks in our room. As we could park the car straight outside the room it was easy to take our bags in. Breakfast was huge and really tasty. Was relaxing and quiet and we slept well.

Stayed in one of the rooms with a view. Neat, simple, clean and comfortable. Very good value. The staff were superb from the gentleman who showed me the room to the staff that served breakfast. Best of all the breakfast was piping hot and wonderful — a proper English breakfast. Lots of choice and delicious. Thank you.

Good food and very friendly staff. Rooms are small but adequate. Short taxi ride into Skipton which is well worth a visit.

It was the first day they had started doing cavaries. And we had missed the place because the cavaries were brilliant. And then it shut down. So we were pleased when we found out it had opened again. But it wasn't very good. Hopefully it will improve. Why but garlic with anemic looking roast potatoes. I hope it gets better for their sake. I so miss the crispy golden roasted and the cabbage in the blackpepper corn sauce and that glorious gravy.

Called in for food after a lovely days walking. The staff are very friendly and helpful but theres an awful unpleasant smell when you walk into the bar. I wouldnt eat here again. Cold tomato sauce on top of hot roast salmon and pea risotto and an inedible overdone scallop on my Husbands plate.

Absolutely amazing place got a warm welcome when I arrived and all the staff are just amazing.

Nice place to stop after walking through the dales building up a hearty appetite. Went with the steak flatbread and it didn't disappoint, steak was cooked wonderfully. Only negative was the size of board wasn't big enough to hold everything on. Staff are really friendly and attentive. Also has a nice outdoor area for those sunny days.

Visited as a family group today, 10 months to 92 years. Very helpful and accommodating staff. Plenty of space and decent food, perhaps a little pricey, hence the 4 stars.

Good place for quiet weekday evening drink BUT Sunday lunch was noisy and service confused. Sea bass fillet with fishcake was tasty and well presented but only after overcooked roast beef had been returned. told that rare or medium roast beef should be ordered in advance even tho' we had been informed it would be available. Won't be eating there again.

A slightly strange experience for a number of reasons.
I understand the pub is under new management and perhaps some settling time is needed for staff to get used to things. No option for garden peas on fish and chips which is fairly standard these days.
Hilariously huge meals and sharing platters but a woefully undersized goats cheese and onion tarte which I suspect was the official vegetarian option… it could have been a starter!
Also it took three reminders for staff to bring a cup of tea that was ordered when we first arrived, and there was a mix up of our order. I don’t want to say that the pub will always be as uninspiring as we found it but some readjustment, more staff training and adjustment of the menu should definitely be considered.

Fabulous Sunday lunch today, so much beef I couldn't eat it all, cooked perfectly, great selection of veg, maybe serve it in a side dish, just too much on the plate! My daughter had the burger which was brilliant. Desserts were delish! Service was good. The menu is excellent, proper cooking! Will be back.

We went here Tuesday night for double birthday celebrations. 6 adults and 5 little ones. What a wonderful welcome from the landlord he and his staff could not have done more for us. The food is exceptional we all had different meals each one delicious. The children's meals spot on. Homemade pizza too! Chips delicious. They cater for everyone. We were made to feel so at home even though we were a noisy party I guess. No room for puds next time main and pud. Oh yes starters wonderful too delicious bread. The only thing that worries me it is so so good will we be able to get a table next time? Lovely dining in the dining room too lovely and warm. We wish you well in your new venture but you don't need luck when you know how to run a business with great food. See you soon we hope. Great to have this great pub up and running again, and even better in our opinion thank you xxx.

Three stars refers to the pub. Two would be too mean. Little ambiance inside from what I could see. Very bare and clinical. Understand it's been refurbished by brewery and turned into a little hotel. You walk past the front doors of some of the hotel rooms as you enter the pub. The building itself from the outside from a distance, or the road, looks very inviting, big disappointment inside. Good local beer though. And back outside they have ancient, or even older, stone circles in the field next to the enormous car park. Probably not so old as I could see drilling holes on them so they must be just an example of the local stone. Which admittedly, is lovely. Great views too across the country too. Only reason I'd go back but there are plenty of other pubs to choose from in the area. I prefer a canal or river location.

This is the fourth time I have visited the Craven Heifer Inn for a meal and it was outstanding! The service is friendly and the food is delicious and plentiful. You are not rushed at all. I will definitely be visiting again and I can't recommend the Craven Heifer highly enough. It's superb!

Dined here many times and never been disappointed. The food is always superb. All homemade. Traditional menu with a creative flourish of creativity. Rib eye; Roast lamb; Caesar Salad with real parmesan; burger but with steak. Just look at the picture of the Treacle sponge with custard — says it all! Good beers too.

Got 2 coffee's (£5.75), one regular and one latte. The regular was luke warm. How hard is it to make a coffee. Left a facebook review saying so and got a VERY nasty rude private mesage back from them. God forbid they actual take criticism when necessary. Was told that as an adult I should have said at the time … as adults you should be able ro make a hot coffee. Nasty rude people.

Great food and bar, basic rooms and a lack of plugs makes it hard for the 21st century. Good price though.

We walked around the area and came to rest on n this good sized pub which offered excellent food and a very fine collection of brass blow torches. One of the finest collections of Brass blow torches I've ever seen.

We visited here for a quiet relaxed weekend away for a friends birthday occasion, upon our arrival we were left waiting at the bar which is seconded as a reception area directly in front of the gents toilet, the landlady methodically checked us into our rooms without a smile and seemed to be inconvenienced treating the check in as a chore, when we got to the rooms I was initially disappointed since the rooms were cell like small and square with no character whatsoever, painted in a dull magnolia, the room was unclean with cobwebs around the foot of the sink basin and hair obstructing the drain in the shower, we were awoken at around 5.00am by vehicles which we assume were delivey vehicles, the food was typical basic pub food which was very expensive ie cheese on toast was £6.00 and a fishfinger sandwich £6.95. we all felt conned by this place and matters were to only get worse, much worse… On the Saturday morning we went for a walk into Skipton on the birthday of one of our friends, we had a good day in Skipton shopping and sight seeing and decided we would return to the Craven Heifer to have a rest and then planned to spend a quiet evening at the Craven Heifer. This was when the Landlady decided to speak to us and told us that she was painting a menu board which was adjacent to the table which she had placed us at, the time was 9.

We had a meal here to celebrate a 60th Birthday Party. Delicious food and amazing service. Big choice on the menu. The heifer pie is truly mouth watering, escpecially with the gravy :) Finished off with a jam roly poly. An amazing day. This is the best pub in Skipton.

Went for a meal for mum-in-laws 80th birthday, large group of us. The Food and service was first class.

Called in again today 4pm — as always excellent food, excellent staff, great service at a reasonable price! In a welcoming atmosphere! We are always happy and full when weve left. Thw Heifer pie is the best pie (apart from my nans meat n potato) I had anywhere.

A group of 10 of us stayed at The Craven Heifer recently for 7 nights. The accommodation was very comfortable. The breakfast was an absolute delight, and it was a pleasure not eating the usual greasy options. Fresh fruit salad, grapefruit, prunes and dried fruit, yoghurt, all cereal options, croissants, cheeses, fruit juice, and an endless supply of toast brown and white. Evening meals also were very good indeed. The pub is in an excellent location for exploring Swaledale, and is just 1 mile from Skipton town. The staff were so polite and helpful at all times.

On a recent 1 month visit from Australia we enjoyed the best pub grub of the trip with excellent friendly service. All this despite a power outage at lunchtime. Will definitely return if my wife has another big win at bingo to pay our fares.

Have been a frequent visitor for Sunday lunch and sadly will never be again. As usual the food was excellent. Customer service was dreadful. When we raised our concerns we were told that no one else was complaining! No one else sat where we were located. I was told that the restaurant was fully booked (we had also booked) and that was why we were packed in like sardines — their problem not ours I suggest. When we requested coffee — no one came to ask if we would like coffee — we were told we had to leave at four o'clock, i. E. In ten minutes time. It would be great to have some feedback from the management.

New Lodge behind inn with superb accommodation, biggest room and bathroom been in for ages. Staff extremely pleasant and efficient perhaps review of someone being threatened with a broom deserved it. Cannot fault, food in inn is excellent, don't tell too many people, or will be crowded when we want to come back:-).

Wasnt sure from reviews but we found people friendly. Although fairly busy we were served quickly. Hot pork sandwich was yummy and nicely presented.

BE WARNED* this is a terrible place to stay — in the morning a member of staff physically threatened a member of our party with a broom. I was stunned. The manager working that day gave a meek apology but nothing more. I'm sure there are lots of nice places to stay in or near Skipton. Look else where.
