Absolutely lovely little bolt hole on the harbour. Surprised my sister once here and called in there with a little canine friend and weren’t fussed — great little pub that is a must for everyone that comes in; pass at your own risk; worth a quick pint if nothing else.

Lovely dog friendly bar — complete with treats from the bar staff for our dog who was shattered after a long beach walk. Friendly staff, one of those places you could happily spend a few relaxed hours in. An extra touch from last time we were in — cards, Uno, dominoes etc on the tables. Am sure we’ll be back, thanks for making us feel welcome 😊

We thought the Pier was great! Very friendly staff. Our room was very comfortable and a cosy atmosphere and very clean! I fell in love with Whitby itself. The only thing I can mention is the parking is difficult although we had a parking permit for two days. Finding a space when arriving just was not happening for us. Ended up parking at the Co-op across the road. Whitby is a very busy place. Best through experience get there as early as to can!. Especially in the holiday season.

Liked this place, very busy, nice staff, really close to harbour. Room was cosy and clean with the view in the photo. Good breakfast and good pub food menu. Close to everywhere in Whitby but what places aren't?

Lovely place to people watch. Spent some eves here just getting pissed and met some nice fellow travellers to share stories with. Good food and good drinks. Can recommend to anyone.

Lovely, fresh cooked food at a dog friendly pub. Especially love the chunky, slightly squishy chips. Portions are a good size & the balcony overlooking the harbour is lovely place to sit in good weather. We've visited twice this holiday which is always a good sign.

Nice pub next to the harbour. Staff are friendly and banterous. My only issue is there is very limited choice for vegetarian food on their menu, and the option we did have was pretty standard and boring. The carnivores in the family had a burger which they say was good but not amazing. Food is served quickly and relatively good prices. However their chips are AMAZING! So just have a bowl of chips and a pint.

If I could give zero stars I would. Went in for a few nibbles and ordered nachos and salt and pepper squid for four of us to share. This cost around £12. The nachos were cemented to the plate with cheese but we managed. The salt and pepper squid was so salty it was unpalettable which is not how it is supposed to be (obviously). We all had one squid ring which meant by the time we realised how badly it was there were only a few left. When I complained they did not seem to care and kept repeating that it was 'salt and pepper squid' like I was stupid and they said I couldn't have a refund because we'd eaten half of it. Whether or not a dish contains salt does not change the fact that it should still be fit for human consumption. Bad food. Bad service.

Fab room with en suite. Delicious freshly cooked breakfast with small selection of continental too. Young lady that checked us in was brilliant, helpful and super friendly. Superbly situated centrally. Only drawback was parking… But that's a Whitby thing!

Great little pub, we wandered in while visiting Whitby with our dog. The big driver for us was the fact it was dog friendly, within minutes one of the bar staff had came over to see us, and petted our dog. We ordered some food and drink, the coffee was a little disappointing as it was from a machine, however the food was excellent. I ordered a regular fish and chips, this came with home made chips and a huge portion of cod. I would have loved to have seen a large fish and chips as mine was great value for money at £7.50 My wife opted for two 'starter' dishes of nachos & chicken strips. The chicken was clearly chicken breast and came in a lovely crispy batter. Both portions were really big, to the point I had to help my wife finish them.

Had food here fish was lovely but chips freezing cold. It was really disappointing.

It's the first time I have been to this pub. It's a nice friendly place. Nice polite staff. Great selection of alcohol.

Nicely laid out pub in a good position en route to the pier. Small menu, but a good choice nonetheless and well priced. Drinks are on the dear side, but that seems to be the case all over Whitby. The service couldn't be faulted. Polite and keen to serve staff. The food arrived fairly quickly once ordered. Hot and fresh, with homemade type chips. The portions were plentiful. Other customers food looked just as good, with the sandwiches looking delicious and great value for money. The only drawbacks are the loos. They seemed dirty with quite poor lighting. They also smelt. Not a great experience. But, overall I think we would probably return.

Service was excellent. Spectacular food, homecooked chips and light flaky fish. Very comfortable environment and especially pleased that dogs were allowed.

Good plateful of food, fish and chips were filling. Serve a nice stout called Tontine. Dog friendly. Family friendly. Been here twice when visiting Whitby will call again.

This is a really great pub but on a Saturday night it is just too busy with very few places to stand. This could be solved by removing a few tables. Beers were good and everyone was really friendly.

Great pub you can call in with the dog… decent food and swift service. Generally a busy place, but your wait for a table is worth it.

First impression was good however landlady unfortunately lacked the professionalism and people skills to run a busy bar. In addition only two rather run down toilets. Overall disappointing and want be going back.

The Pier Inn is a very nice, dog-friendly pub near the Whitby Pier — located in a historic, listed building. The beer selection is decent, there are always a few real, hand-pumped ales on in addition to the usual roster of British and international lagers. The menu is typical for local, British pub grub, and the Jumbo Cod I had (twice! ) was both excellent and truly "jumbo" — best fish & chips I had in quite a while: the batter was crunchy and tasty, the chips well-cooked — even the mushy peas are edible (and not as much of a sludge as they usually are! ) And at just UKP 9.95 I think the value is excellent, too. Drinks prices are moderate, the bar staff friendly and helpful, the décor clean and consumer-friendly. Just be aware that there will be a lot of dogs at this place, and some will be wailing while you're eating.

Beautiful cosy clean & efficient am the views are stunning. Food is great priced an the quality & quantity was spot on, amazing friendly staff & dog friendly we absolutely loved our stay here for valentine's an we would definitely recommend. Will be visiting again as soon as possible. A must visit. We couldn't fault it.

Best food and drink in Yorkshire, and I've tried most places in Yorkshire, I really like my food as my waistline suggests.

Staff & food were awesome! We had the scampi & the cod & both were strong in taste so definitely hadn't been frozen. My only complaint is that they don't serve pudding other than that a great place for the whole family.

Claire and the staff have been fantastic. Couldn't do enough for the preparation of our wedding day. Everything was perfect and staying here made for a perfect time. Booked for 5 nights ended up 7 nights and made it into our honeymoon. Food is lovely and service fantastic. Myself and my wife will be back here every year. Thank you so much to you all. Though we stayed there for one night, the Pier Inn was nice. It was very small and local and provided a good breakfast and great costumer service. The room fit 4 and had 2 TVs (more than enough) and the beds were very comfy.

We stopped here for a quick bite, my friends and I had the beer battered cod and jumbo cod, both were delicious. Definitely recommend, reasonable priced for their big portions. Staff were attentive and friendly. Note that this place is also dog friendly.

Stopped here for something to eat. Had the jumbo fish chips and peas. It was hot and there was plenty of it but I didn't eat all the batter because it was a bit greasy. The fish inside was good. Went back later because there was a band on playing 60's music but didn't rate them much so we only had one drink and left.

Nice view of the waterside, drinks were a bit overpriced though. And the Hungarian barman tried to chat up my wife, so…

Friendly bar staff and waitresses that kept the tables nice and clean. We sat on the balcony upstairs and watched the world go by for 3 hours on a lovely sunny afternoon. Great pub.

Fantastic pub that does good pub food. Some nice seating giving good views of the harbour. We had 5 days in Whitby and eat here 3 of those. Recommended bug style.

The best holiday to Whitby, The staff are warm and friendly we've had an amazing experience, drinks and food. I can't wait until we return for another visit hungry for more.

Amazing fish and chips, enjoyable atmosphere, just wish they had all chairs instead of some stools, apart from that, it was good, nice meal while watching football.

From the moment I booked accommodation for my wife's birthday, the staff couldn't have done more for me. Excellent customer relations, great pub atmosphere and room with a view was spectacular. I would recommend to families too. Definatly will visit again. Thank you to all the Pier Inn Staff especially the manager.

Excellent trip to The Pier — although extremely busy we were served quickly with delicious food by the friendly staff. Will definitely return when next in Whitby!

This place isn't fancy but is a nice relaxing place to go for dinner and a drink. Nice to see that dogs are welcome too.

Being unable to park our bikes where we could be confident of their safety was a disappointment after having confirmation that off road parking facilities are available. Hospitality however, is really good and all the staff and management are really friendly. Our evening meal was served promptly and everything fresh. Accommodation spotless and comfortable, and no pressure to check out immediately. So thanks for a nice stay guys!

I wouldn't bother trying to eat here if you have any food allergies, as a coeliac I had two options… Hunters chicken or grilled batterless fish. I was impressed however they'd gone to the trouble to source a gluten free bbq sauce which I myself have been unable to find! When I mentioned this to the barmen he informed me 'oh yeah I forgot to mention you can't eat the sauce'. So I had a dry chicken breast wrapped in bacon and cheese accompanied with soggy chips (which probably were not GF as cooked in the same frier as other food). Other peoples food looked gorgeous so if your not a coeliac then enjoy!

A great lunch time experince. Great fish and chips washed down with a pint of great Old Peculiar. Keep up the great standards.

Our Eight Night stay at the Pier Inn was Excellent,. Nothing was too much trouble to the Staff,. They were very Friendly and Accommodating,. Great Value and a gorgeous Breakfast.

I stayed at The Pier Inn with my friend and her little girl. We had the family room. It was a long way up in the attic! But the room was worth every one of the four flights of stairs. The view was stunning, and it felt so special to be right in the heart of Whitby. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the full English breakfast was delicious, and served at a civilised time, rather than the crack of dawn.

Very friendly staff and the manageress was very accommodating to my requests. The rooms are clean and have great views of the pier. The price of the room was great id definitely recommend to others.

Had to wait till they caught the fish! Was very busy due to goth weekend but one of the meals was forgotten and arrived after the rest of the group had finished eating! A decent portion of fish and chips arrived eventually and was very tasty. Could have been better if more staff were working! The pub is tastefully decorated with a good atmosphere.

Bought fish and chips paid £7.50 along with the rest who got OAP option. Served the wrong dish and when asked to bring the correct dish served it cold.
