The Belfry Whitby Hotel

Perfect location. Very comfortable bed and well equipped room. Generous and very well cooked breakfast, hosted by Sophie who was so warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend The Belfry Whitby.

We had three nights in a lovely room overlooking the church. It is situated in a very peaceful part of town. Phil and Sophie were fantastic hosts, helpful in every way. Breakfast was delicious. And a bonus was the free parking permit! We’ll be back soon.

Fabulous location 2 minutes walk to West Cliff beach and 10 minutes walk into town. Staff excellent and rooms clean with good tea and coffee. Breakfast was great and well done to Tina and Tasha who looked after us. Keep up the great work as we'll be back soon x.

Where do I start. We have been going to the Belfry for over 6 years. Phil and Sophie are so welcoming. The rooms are spotless and the food is excellent. We have already booked to go back next year.

This hotel is amazing, so clean, so quiet, great location, amazing breakfast, perfect, have rebooked to go back.

Only managed to get a booking at The Belfry purely by luck due to a cancellation. On our arrival the, outside of the building was beautifully kept, and stood out amongst the several other places nearby. The hosts Phil and Sophie were incredibly friendly, and helpful, handing over our parking permits at 1015am so we could spend the day exploring prior to check in at 3pm.
We stayed in the super king size room, which was beautifully presented and extremely clean, yea and coffee, provided along with water.
The bathroom was spacious, and very well equipped with shampoo, conditioner, soaps etc. Provided We had a sea view too which made our stay even more special.
Breakfasts were superb, with options daily including the “Yorkshire breakfast” top quality ingredients, amazing choice.
You Couldn’t ask for nicer hosts than Phil and Sophie, The Belfry is a credit to all their hard work, and if we can ever manage to get a booking, we will definitely be back Thank you.

Our family room was immaculately clean and very well laid out. The beds are very comfortable and breakfast was yummy. The hosts, Phill and Sophie, are very friendly and accommodating and were always on hand to help or chat. The check-in process is clear and helpfully you can arrive well in advance of your check-in time to access parking to enable you to explore Whitby beforehand. Thank you both.

This was our first stay at The Belfry but certainly won’t be the last. Beautiful large, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable room with fantastic en suite. Hospitality tray with everything you could need! The breakfast was delicious on both mornings with lots of choice for even the fussiest guests!

We stayed here near Christmas a few years ago and it was lovely! Decorations were fab, comfy rooms and delicious pancakes for breakfast!

Just back from a 2 night stay at the Belfry. We have stayed here before but not for a few years. It was lovely to come back. The lovely Sophie and Phil are great hosts and nice to meet their new family members. Nothing seems too much trouble for these great people and they definitely have their hands full. It has a great family feel to the place and children are made to feel very welcome. Our son loved his stay at the Belfry and how kind that Sophie made him his favourite pancakes such a lovely gesture ❤️. The place is spotless, comfortable and breakfasts are really tasty, eggs done to perfection. Thanks so much for a lovely stay hope to not leave it so long next time. The Belfry is well placed for Whitby town without being right in the midst of everything. It is very well decorated throughout. Room 1 was ours, spacious, clean & lovely decor, overlooking part of the Crescent Gardens and the sea! This was our first visit, and it won’t be our last. We even discovered common ground in the next village to us, just how small is the world we’ll see you again Sophie and Phil. Thanks for such a lovely stay.

I will definitely be recommending The Belfry to friends and family. Such a chilled and relaxed atmosphere. The accommodation is spotless and well maintained. We had a superking bed in a spacious room with lovely finishing touches. The hosts were so helpful and gave lots of information to people regarding places to go and see. After this experience I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Whitby.

Just back from staying here for 4 days. The bedrooms were lovely and spotless. We had great views. Perfect central spot but very quiet at the same time. Phill & Sophie were lovely and so helpful. The breakfast was outstanding. Loved how they offered you “daily specials” everyday. Will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone big thanks from us all.

Amazing 4 night stay, Phil and Sophie were fantastic, yummy breakfast, clean, beautifully decorated family room, shared fridge so we could store food/milk for our daughter who has a dairy allergy, local information available and friendly atmosphere. Our daughter loved going down for breakfast and saying good morning to Phil and Sophie's little girl, it made her week having a little friend. Would love to return again in the future, it's so close to the beach, arcades, restaurants. Just perfect. Thank you x.

Fantastic two night stay at the Belfry. The property stands out from others in the area with its contemporary but also tasteful and respectful styling. Also conveniently located a short walk from promenade but far enough for a quiet sleep. Really friendly and helpful hosts in Phill and Sophie and a couple of tasty breakfasts. I enjoyed the full English whilst my wife enjoyed the daily specials, which were American style pancakes one morning and Eggs Benedict the next. Very easy to recommend and I'm sure we will be back.

Me and my partner Keith stayed here for 2 nights on Friday the 16th Feb. Our first time at this b&b but wont be our last. Great host's beautiful room's and lovely breakfast. Lovely lounge area with a fridge for us to use ideal for putting our wine in great touch. Highly recommend.

We have stayed at the Belfy in different rooms now on numerous occasions. The premises are very clean and inviting and your hosts a lovely couple are really friendly and will know your names straight away. They are the best reason for staying. Of course the lovely comfy rooms and great breakfast are excellent as well.

Enjoyed two nights at the Belfry. Fantastic location close to the town centre. Phil gave us a warm friendly welcome, helped with bags to our room. Breakfast is delicious I had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, hubby had full English. Would highly recommend and will definitely go back.

We had an excellent stay at the Belfry! Phill and Sophie were so welcoming and helpful on our arrival and during our stay. He helped us with our baggage and pram etc as we have a 10 week old baby and don't travel light. The family room was very spacious, beautifully decorated, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The lounge and dining room were also beautifully decorated and offered facilities for storing things in the fridge and a coffee machine you can access at any time. The breakfasts were delicious With a different special on each day. The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs was absolutely gorgeous and so was the full English! We will definitely be back and hopefully try one of the premier suites next time. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Just returned from a two night stay for our anniversary and couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The hotel is in a perfect location just a few minutes stroll away from the harbour and the beach. From the moment we arrived we knew that nothing was going to be too much trouble as both phill and sophie were exceptional hosts. We stayed in the luxury suite and found it to be well worth the extra. The room was spacious, very comfortable and furnished with high quality fixtures and fittings. Breakfast at the belfry was excellent,, plenty of choice and perfectly cooked. Would definitely recommend a stay and will be returning again soon hopefully.

Stayed here for two nights end of August. Good, friendly hosts who happily make conversation, and remember guest names which is always a nice touch. The hotel is clean, decor is nice and modern with well designed individual rooms. Good quality complimentary teas and coffee provided in the rooms and lounge area, great breakfast with a choice of specials available. Perfect location, great sea view rooms which are beautifully decorated and very friendly owners. Breakfast is only served in your room which is actually a really nice touch as certainly the room we were in had a little breakfast table looking out to sea. Free permit parking in the W zones in Whitby, but you may have to be patient to get a space!

Great location, great value, great for relaxation and a 5 minute walk to the centre of Whitby. Second stay at the Belfry, I think last year we stayed and the current owners had just taken charge. This year the room we stayed in had been completely changed and modernised. Clean and new with a touch of class. The room had a giant bath tub with a view looking out across the bay. Great for couple time. Got a fantastic nights sleep and the breakfast was slamming as well. The owner joked he would pay me not to put a picture of myself on trip advisor in the bath tub.

Highly recommend staying here, very nice place, room was beautiful and beds were comfy, bathroom was nice and it was all very clean. Lovely breakfast, lovely hosts, very friendly and welcoming. Located very close to the beach and only a couple of minutes to the town or harbour. Couldn't ask for anything more, it was perfect.

We stayed here for one night and it was perfect. Gorgeous room overlooking the sea, lovely hosts, first class location and an amazing home cooked breakfast in the morning. Can't rate this place highly enough.

If you're going to Whitby then this is the place to stay! Phill and Sophie are fantastic and their B&B is beautiful! The rooms are warm, comfortable and inviting and the breakfasts are lovely too. I especially enjoyed seeing the surprise specials each morning! I cannot recommend The Belfry enough and we will be back as often as we are able. A great place for a little family like ours.

This is a great B&B run by two enthusiastic and friendly owners. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. We had a great nights sleep. Breakfast was nice, we opted for the Mexican eggs, a nice alternative to the Full English, we weren't disappointed. We would love to return to this B&B if we come back to Whitby.

We encountered plenty of enthusiasm & energy on our visit as Sophie & Phil were our youngest landlords ever. Beside traditional English breakfast there is a different offering every day on a blackboard. You may find pancakes, smoked salmon & scrambled eggs, Mexican eggs (Tabasco served separately), kedgeree etc. The password for Belfry Wi-Fi is 'welovewhitby'. Exactly!
