Absolutely fantastic weekend here. Not just dog tolerant but truly dog friendly. Our cockapoo had the time of his life. We even took our dog in the dog friendly restaurant, food and service were great. It’s a short stroll down to the dog friendly beach. Can’t fault it and will definitely be back.

Stunning location with beautiful gardens and woodlands leading to the sea. The food was superb! Loved my 7am swims in the spa and seeing lots of wildlife. Will be back to treat my Mum to a spa weekend 😍

Fab hotel, the staff are their jewel, shout for Bailey, his cocktails are awesome 👌 the concierge team are amazing, friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Hide/Keep, plenty of free rides up to the main hotel for spa trips and breakfast and dinner. The food was great, will need to diet when home. The grounds and gardens are spectacular, vegetable/ fruit gardens on the hill, looks like they are expanding.

Check your pillows! Beautiful Hotel in a gorgeous setting…. However we came back from our day out to see my pillow poking out of the pillow case…. On further inspection 2 of our pillows were disgusting! My husband took one of the pillows down and reception was very busy so showed it to the concierge (Gary)? He immediately came up with 2 clean pillows and apologised but it really isn’t acceptable is it? When we spoke to the manager when checking out she knew nothing about it! We showed her the photos and her comment was “ they do have pillow protectors on”…. There are no words! I’ve just seen another review from January about the disgusting pillow too! We paid £500 for 2 nights! So hardly cheap!

Had an amazing 2 day break with my friend at Raithwaite, all of the staff are amazing so helpful and friendly, hotel is warm and welcoming, we had a twin bedroom with a small balcony which overlooked their amazing and well kept gardens which is a must for exploring. We used the spa facilities and the pool area so relaxing, the spa team were so helpful and friendly. we also had lunch in the bar area and chose the club sandwich which was very big and tasty and our evening meal was delicious we had the lamb hot pot it was packed with chunks of lamb and came with red cabbage and clementine carrots (highly recommend), then we relaxed on the sofa in front of a log burning fire. Thank you for an amazing experience all of the staff in every department were amazing and definitely coming back.

Really lovely hotel, staff are super friendly, rooms were clean and comfy and food was beautiful! The spa was also great again clean with friendly staff Perfect place to get engaged! 😉

Don't know how anyone had a bad word to say about this place. A luxury spa retreat in the heart of nature… yes it's a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Service was impeccable and said they'd make us any drinks that weren't on the menu and they did. They also called us a taxi that arrived bang on time and let us book a taxi back. Check in was quick and we were well looked after. Breakfast was heaven! Stunning quality buffet AND a cooked meal. Didn't use the spa but the pool had the most beautiful view of the little Brook that runs through the grounds. Reception had a stunning lounge with a smokey oak fire and the room was like a palace, turreted balcony with a view of the trees and a huge bathroom. It's become one of our favourite places and I can't see us staying anywhere else in Whitby!

Very disappointed with the restaurant service.
Evening meal was mediocre and the staff didn’t have a clue what was going on.
Had to send breakfast back as it was cold, plenty of staff but nobody taking control.
Stayed in a suite in the keep which was lovely, staff across there were very attentive but they all seemed to be new.
Have stayed here before so was very disappointed by the 5 star prices and 2 star service
Won’t be coming back.

Just spent 3 nights in a lovely room in “The Keep” which is a separate building in the grounds. Bit of an issue with a noisy air con unit clanking and banging on the first night but sorted quickly by the maintenance team. Staff very helpful, polite and friendly. I took ill during breakfast one morning and the girl waiting on showed me great concern and provided me with water etc. They also catered well with my dairy free diet. Adele from the Spa (I think) gave me a lovely relaxing massage which was amazing! Note to the newly appointed female concierge — you are doing a great job and it was nice to see you applying yourself to looking at ways to improve the hotel’s appeal etc. Keep up the good work. Us HR Managers love to see and nurture talent and enthusiasm! We would love to return at some point in the future.

Just returned from a one night stay here and it was beautiful! The hall and grounds are stunning, the staff so helpful and the adaptations in place to prevent spread of COVID19 just make you feel so safe. The room was lovely and clean, food and drink was delicious. Thank you for a lovely stay. We'll be back again!

The Estate is beautiful and a great place to relax.
The beach is a short walk away.
The staff are welcoming, helpful and professional.
We have stayed in a junior suite in The Keep and also in the Abbey Suite in The Hall. Both are spacious, but the Abbey room has better views, is larger, has a large balcony and has the benefit of a main bathroom (in the bedroom area) and a WC in the lounge area. Very useful when there are 2 adults and a tween in the room.

Amazing location! Fabulous staff and nothing was too much trouble! Will certainly return! Simon was amazing and all of the colleagues were there to make it a great experience. Thank you.

From the first minute we walked in we felt very welcomed, the grounds are beautiful, rooms really nice, food was excellent (Steak was the best Steak I've tasted) staff were were very friendly throughout. I would highly recommended a stay here.

Had a night away as a treat this weekend the staff were helpful and polite at all times, the food was excellent as was the room and spa facilities. Even treated ourselves to a massage which was very nice, such a lovely hotel set in beautiful surroundings would definitely recommend and we will be back!

Truly a fabulous hotel. I have stayed many times and have a trip planned for winter. Spa is clean and peaceful. Staff are very welcoming and nothing is too much.

Good clean and all round nice place to be. Great gardens, but can be confusing to figure which part of the estate / hotel to check into. Limited food choices in terms of restaurants but what there is is good. Great rooms and bathrooms. Great spa, pool etc but busy with kids at certain times. Outside of that it's fantastic. Not quite 5 star if I compare to other hotels I have stayed at in other countries but good for the UK.

We have stayed here several times, and every-time the experience surpasses the previous! The welcome and on hand concierge is excellent. The cottages are well worth the premium (rambling rose is perfect for a small family — we stayed with a 2yr old and a 2 week old). Breakfast is always a pleasure, the grounds are beautifully kept and the spa is second to none. Thank you for a lovely long stay and the memories we have made.

Really nice hotel, very friendly, helpful staff. Nice ambiance, great food and wine choice in option of two restaurants — the Brasserie — French inspired menu and Hunters bar with Tapas/burger type menu. Fantastic, highly recommended!

Came here for afternoon tea and stayed for a weekend. Pleasant staff, well kept rooms and the restaurant is great for evening meals and breakfasts. Handy for Whitby itself for a day in town. Ample parking and disabled access. Would recommend to anyone visiting Whitby or North Yorkshire Moors.

Just short of greatness. It's a shame, as in many ways this is a brilliant hotel, but when was the last time you paid around £200 for an executive room with no air con? No air con = windows open. Great until the deliveries start around 7am. Reversing beeps for just over two hours as deliveries are dropped at reception (near to many rooms).

Great location for Sandsend and Whitby plus a short drive from Robin Hoods Bay. The service and helpfulness of the safe was excellent. The Spa and fitness centre was good and we were advised of the 'splash' times for kids so we avoided going between the times. Breakfast was good with some extra meals available on a menu.

We visited here on the 4th — 5th June. Honestly can’t express what a lovely experience from start to finish, the place is beautiful, service outstanding as are the facilities. We stayed b&b and the breakfast was lovely didn’t feel rushed and the place wasn’t overcrowded as hotels often can be. The rooms were really big as were the bathrooms, we had been for a night out and on our return home the beds had been turned down curtains and blinds closed and a bottle of water at each side of the bed what a nice touch. The bed was huge and so comfortable. Thankyou Raithwaite Estate definitely a 5 star from us.

Lovely hotel. Not child friendly at all although they say they cater for children. Been able to use the pool only twice a day at set times an no other child activities onsite is not good.

After a very busy period at work its always great to look forward to a relaxing time at The Raithwaite. We have been visiting for a good few years now and we always keep going back. The staff continue to be incredibly helpful and try and make your stay the best it can be. Simon continues to be the standout member of the team he makes sure he does everything in his power to make you feel welcomed and very looked after. We will be back again later in the year.

Great place to stay with dogs. Best desert I ever had in the brasserie too! The staff have been brilliant and the location is great, minutes from whitby or Sandsend beaches. Would 100 percent come back or recommend.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. What a find! We stayed the weekend in an executive room in the Keep. We were in a ground floor room which had doors onto the veranda that looked into the grounds. Our room was spacious and spotless. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is of a high standard. We spent time in the pool, sauna etc which was also spotless and very relaxing. Great weekend could have stayed longer.

I don’t normally write reviews but we were so pleased with our stay that I thought it would only be fair to do so. The grounds were unbelievable, the food was amazing, spa facilities great, good sized rooms but for us, the thing that made it for us was the amazing staff. The door men/concierge were the most friendly members of staff I have ever come across. Made such a fuss over us and catered for all of our needs.

Not bad but expected more. We stayed in a deluxe room and were anticipating either a sofa / seating area or a balcony, we got neither. Which after the premium price we paid, did feel a little disappointing. The receptionist was so efficient she bordered on rude, definitely not a warm welcome. The rest of the staff were lovely, Simon in particular was as helpful as he could be. We had a spa treatment, the lady did not do the particular treatment we booked however the treatment was fantastic. The bill was also incorrect, we were double charged for a meal which was disappointing, exactly the same amount on it twice. A little more attention to detail would have avoided this issue. Beautiful grounds just the hotel was lacking a wow factor.

Excellent relaxed atmosphere in The Keep, slightly more formal at the main house. Food is top notch in either The Keep or the main house. Rooms are generous in size and very well finished. The staff are an absolute please to deal with and are unfailingly polite and efficient.

We love this hotel and stay here for special occasions. It is ideally situated within a short taxi ride to the heart of Whitby. The staff in the hotel are very friendly and helpful. We left this morning after a heavy snowfall during the night, and when we walked to the car park all of the cars had been cleared of snow by the hotel staff, (always going the extra mile). Would highly recommend!

Staff exceptional, tentative and friendly. Great place to stay with quality tasty meals. Rooms warm and comfortable. Whole visit highly enjoyable. (Carpark away from the main hotel needs the 15 mph access road reducing to 10mph and enforcing for guest reassurance. )

We stayed here overnight in room 1101 in the keep. The room was clean and spacious although we would have liked a room that wasn’t an accessible room as we would have liked a bath. We had a lovely meal and breakfast was also nice with a good selection. We used the spa facilities which were great very clean and I had a hot stone massage. The best I’ve had! Would definitely stay again!

Good points:
— staff are so welcoming, attentive and friendly
— cream tea was really good
— we wanted to order off the room service menu but eat the food down stairs in the restaurant — staff were very accommodating
— delicious food
— spa facilities were excellent and very clean
— good value for money
— amazing cooked breakfast! Bad points:
— cleanliness not 100% in areas, the baby changer in the toilets near reception was very dirty and my daughter was crawling round on the floor in our room and found two Stickers on the floor. We also had to rinse down the bath as it wasn't clean.
— cocktails over priced. All £10 and weren't overly special.
Would definatly rate a 5* if the cleanliness was better.

A great place to get away. Staff are all super friendly and very helpful. There are plenty of walks close by to work up an appetite. It's a 10/15 minute walk to the beach. The food is outstanding, sausage roll in the afternoon tea is mega, chateaubriand was too good and the black pudding in the breakfast was off the scale. Negatives are that it's a walk from where you sleep to where you get treatments but staff are on hand to give you a lift on the golf buggy.

Amazing estate with lovely rooms and an attentive but not overbearing staff. The grounds lack mobile phone signal but free Wi-Fi in all areas inside and out off set this. Great food and breakfast too.

Stayed over for a friend's wedding it was a lovely modern estate. I stayed in the Keep which was very smart clean and comfortable. Brilliant room and bathroom. The sound proofing was ok not the best between rooms. The staff were very good and the wedding in the hall was ran very smoothly. Overall it was a very nice experience.

Had an amazing stay here. The suite we had was very nice. All we could ask for, with toiletries, refrigerator and someone had even thought to freeze ice cubes ready for us. The use of the veranda/ balcony was an added bonus. Of course the spa was fantastic, friendly helpful staff and everything we could ask for. First class treatments. Thank you we will be back.

We booked afternoon tea at Raithwaite Hall for my husband's birthday and we certainly wasn't disappointed. We had a lovely afternoon tea but we couldn't eat it all so we brought some home.  The food was delicious and the room was so 'Posh'  there was even a piano. I offered to 'tickle the ivories' but my husband held me down! We were greeted by a professional person who made us feel welcome and at ease. We were shown to a table with comfy high backed chairs which made a nice change from dining chairs. The quaint fingers sandwiches looked good and tasted good. Everything was presented nicely which made it look even more tasty. The waiter was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Raithwaite Hall was easy to find although the signs on the drive way up to the hall advising of the speed were difficult to see because of the small print. We would recommend the afternoon tea and we will most certainly be returning. Anne and Graham.

We recently visited the Raithwaite Estate, and we were very impressed. The service was impeccable, rooms beautifully decorated. Everything perfect. However there english breakfast was terrible not what you expect from such a lovely place, comparable to a Premier Inn breakfast, which isn't bad but not for £30 for a couple. So recommend it, just not the breakfast.

Ok. Excellent staff but is a newbuild and lacks any atmosphere. E. G. Why call it 'Poachers bar' when there is no connection to the country side at all. Better and cheaper alternatives are available.

On first arrival there is lots of room for parking, greeted straight away with a great warm smile and welcome. Staff here are more than great. Location is stunning, the grounds that surround this hotel and spa are stunning especially the garden that looks extremely well looked after. The hotel inside is immaculate. Food and drinks is so very good, if you are thinking about staying here I don't think there is anywhere else near as good as this place. Book it and take a look for your self I think k you'll agree, highly recommend.

Over priced, was served mains before starters. Food service was extremely slow. When duck dish was presented second time round there was a lot less meat! So disappointed as it was our wedding anniversary dinner. Will not visit again.

It's brilliant. Staff are lovely, patient, informative and caring. The room is spacious, plenty of storage. Both to room and the bathroom are also very clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Actually stayed in The Keep rather than the main hotel but can confirm that the gardens were lovely to walk through and staff, even down to the gardener, were very friendly. The hotel should put some trout or carp into their lake and river to keep the swarms of May flies down but I imagine it's a seasonal thing.

Beautiful grounds, it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere when it's only a 10 minute drive into whitby. The food was delicious and the staff all polite and ready to help at all times. We stayed in the keep and would highly recommend it.

Cannot fault the service or the place! The hotel is immaculate and spotless, the staff cannot do enough for you, the gardens are beautiful and the location is a perfect base for exploring the east coast. Food in the restaurant is not cheap but worth every penny. The breakfast lacks nothing and caters for everyone's tastes! Truly a fabulous friendly hotel. We will definitely be visiting again!
