Food top notch, service really good, staff very friendly and professional. Reasonably priced, generous portions. I will be going back again.

The food and desserts came as a pleasant surprise. Served quickly, hot with ample portions. The staff were very attentive and served and cleared away our dirty plates very quickly. Couldn't have been more obliging. Me and my husband had half a chicken each mine with gravy my husband's was served with peri Peri sauce. He had chips and I had a baked potato. We both had the Asian coleslaw which was delicious. My husband had apple pie and ice cream and I had four small desserts with cream. Followed by a cappuccino. It was utterly delicious and we will certainly return.

Good value for money pub. Great for kids too. Would make more sense for there to be a door from the seating area near the kids indoor play to go outside. Meant kids running up and down through the pub, my 4 year old wanting to follow suit. Lots of choice on the menu. Food tasted lovely and good sized portions. Service was OK, a little on the slow side towards the end but overall was great.

Friendly staff. Lovely place. Nice and clean. Only very small downside was the bed was a bit hard but it didn't spoil it visit at all.

Good atmosphere and quick service, unfortunately only thing that let them down was the steak was not cooked how I ordered it but this was quickly put right.

Reasonably priced meals of excellent quality. Very friendly staff. Nothing too much trouble. Only downside is skin on fries. No option for chips.

A comfortable room, pub & restaurant, very good food & service. Looks quite newly built, in good location for Abbey visit by car & also only 4 mins by car to town centre of Whitby & beach.

First time at a Marsden's hotel a d was really pleased. The staff were very attentive and professional particularly Joe on reception. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Food was also good (lasagna highly recommend) and we even had entertainment on the Friday night. Really good low cost hotel.

Another quality meal at a reasonable price. Good, fast efficient service in pleasant modern restaurant. Easy and plentiful parking.

2 adults 2 grandkids. Serving staff were lovely. Helping to push kids chairs up to table, bringing kids food early, which always helps. We brought child's cutlery which staff offered to rinse after the meal. Food a little different and well presented. Will visit again.

We stopped at Penny Hedge in Whitby. Was very clean. The beds were comfortable. The staff were polite and helpful and the food was very good.

Hotel rooms very good air conditioned. Parking very good and the food in the pub also very good and pretty good value. Next door virtually to a large sainsbury and a nice walk into town or about 5 for a taxi. Buses infrequent unfortunately.

One of my favourite places to eat. Cheap and cheerfull but excellent quality. Steak night is the best.

The food and beer were both good with a nice selection of ales. The serving staff were friendly too. We also stayed in the hotel and found the room spacious and comfortable. We couldn't hear any road noise either.

Food was lovely and the staff were very polite and friendly. We went on quite a busy night which is understandable as we received very slow service. They may want to think about placing a few more staff on as we were left waiting a while after finishing our meals.

This is a nice pub and the meals are pretty good. Food was nice and fairly priced. Good service and clean premises.

Ordered the full chicken sharing platter. The rice dish that came out was wrong and the 4 buttermilk chicken goujons didnt even come. Additionally the plates we were given to eat half a chicken off of were no bigger than a side dish. This is my 3rd visit here in 18 months and each time it has been pretty rubbish. This is definitely my last time.

Very pleasant hotel. Nicely situated just outside town with plenty of parking. Staff very friendly. Generally the food was good.

I have visited this place a couple of times and have to say I have yet to be disappointed. The food here is generally of a good standard and is tasty, the amazing thing is the price that they manage to serve it for. For 5 of use to eat a main here with a drink comes to £10 per head.

Nice clean modern accommodation, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Food and drink in the bar is reasonably priced. I shall definitely be staying here again in the future.

Accessible with ample parking and disabled access. Food is reasonable quality and fairly cheap. For an affordable hot meal in pleasant surroundings (with friendly staff) would recommend. Only knocked star off due to my personal preference for more choice and better quality.

Penny Hedge is a typical pub/motel type accommodation, and whilst it is beautifully kept, the thing that sets it apart from the other Premier and Travel lodge establishments, is the staff. Nothing is too much trouble in either the motel or the restaurant for the staff. They are very polite, attentive and immensely approachable, with a cheery attitude and quiet confidence of people who know exactly what they are doing and how to make it count for the customer. You are treated as being very special and they are so easy going that it makes your break a great success. It doesn't hurt that whilst the food is typical "pub grub", it is beautifully cooked and presented but most of all is highest quality of its genre. I can thoroughly recommend this place.

Warm welcome and great service. Good selection of beers and lager. When the food arrived it was excellent quality and realistic size portions. Good menu and very nice surroundings, very good accommodation for children and a quieter area around the bar.

Fantastic venue, great service. We were looked after by a very charming host who catered to our every need. The rotisserie is a win in my book!

Lovely place to eat, with highly attentive staff who managed to strike a perfect balance between being there when we needed them, and giving us space to enjoy our meal. Good food, and a nice selection of choices.

Always good, called in for coffee and lunch. Bar staff were helpful and friendly and food was great. Sat outside which is done nicely, little noisy from the road. Coffees were made well. Would recommend.

Being locals we have eaten here several times. I have no complaints about the food it's very good for the money. However the service at Penny Hedge leaves a lot to be desired. Yet again this evening we have been passed by the table staff several times and have had to wait over 20 minutes to be served and only after going to the bar to remind staff we needed to order. Unfortunately this is not the first time we've had to wait an unacceptable amount of time for service in fact we have come to expect it. We've yet to eat, hopefully and this time we won't be waiting half an hour for the bill…

New restaurant with a great value menu, good friendly service. Not really a gastro pub, bug good honest food and good value in a nice venue. Nothing better under 15 pounds in the area. Well done Marston's.

Fast service amazing food.

Absolutely wonderful. Service by. Michael was top-notch and the food was excellent. Not been impressed with a pub for a very long time, but this place is exceptional. Fully accessible for disabled people (with toilet) very spacious, wide selection of food, free Wi-Fi, indoor play for toddlers, outdoor gardens and seating with slides. Wonderfully done! All around wonderful place. Efficient service and warm friendly staff.

Clean, new build hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. What more could you ask for. Would stay again and recommend it.
