My family and I visited Lowther House for afternoon tea, and it was the best afternoon tea we have ever had!
The service was excellent, the food was abundant and the surroundings were beautiful. One of our party had gluten and dairy free dietary requirements and they went above and beyond to create the most amazing selection of sandwiches and treats. We even took a doggy bag home of treats we couldn’t manage to eat.
Would definitely recommend a visit!

Just had amazing stay at Lowther House, comfortable bed in beautiful house, great hosts, tasty breakfast and lovely tea garden. Everything we needed and more.

Beautiful tea garden next to Pickering Beck and great afternoon tea. Definitely something you should try.
Our room was very nice and cosy. Breakfast was very good, continental, full english or a Lowther Light of fruit platter and croissant.
The b&b is right on a public footpath which takes you through woods along Pickering Beck and the North York Moors railway with loads of wildlife.
Didn’t have an evening meal but some other guests said theirs was very good.
Our hosts were very nice, helpful and informative.
About 15-20mins walk from the town it is the perfect base for spending time in the North York Moors.

Great stop for a coffee. We didn’t try the food but definitely plan to next time! Extremely friendly and welcoming staff. We popped in on our way home from a dog walk. Dogs welcome too and even got a special dog biscuit! Beautifully set by the river.

The most beautiful setting. Can definately recommend the afternoon tea. Our weekend stay was wonderful and made even better by our warm hearted hosts, Helen and John.

Amazing! Visited the tea room, it is easily the best tea room I've been to. The cakes and scones were delicious, the atmosphere was great, the owners and staff are so friendly and welcoming, also the pâtissier is amazing, a true master. We were sat outside listening to the brook in the sunshine, so tranquil. You must visit, you will not regret it!

Quite simply fantastic, if you’re in or around Pickering and you don’t visit here for lunch, homemade cake or a light snack, then you are missing out big time. Owned and run by the most wonderful and friendly people you could ever meet. P. S also very dog friendly.

Stayed at Lowther House for one night. We were greeted by the owner and taken into the House. The pre-ordered dinner was of very high quality with fantastic personal service. The house and grounds were beautiful. It was very tranquil and a lovely place for a short break. Breakfast was pre-ordered and requested for 8.30am. Again we were not disappointed. The room was lovely and clean. Would highly recommend this accommodation with the owners being delightful hosts.

A great find on the outskirts of Pickering — late last Summer we had a delicious afternoon treat and tea in the garden and it was so peaceful next to the brook. We look forward to returning this Summer. Make sure you check their opening times on their website as they have changed since 2017.

We enjoyed our two night stay, two rooms for four adults, we were able to enjoy our breakfast outdoors one lovely morning, there is fantastic storage for bikes. Great breakfasts friendly owners nice garden lovely cake. Highly recommended.

A fantastic find. One of the best B & B's yet. Great room and refreshment tray, breakfast superb. Fabulous setting. There's nothing not to like. A must stay place for all the North Yorks area.

Just had a fabulous 2 night stay at Lowther House John and Helen are excellent hosts and the food was amazing, what a little gem of a find. It is a great base for exploring we did lunch on the Steam Train which was brilliant would have loved to have stayed longer. Will recommend to all our friends Hope to see you again in the future Pam, Iain, Carol and Billy.

We had a great stay here over New Year. It's the perfect spot if you want to relax in comfort with a great breakfast and fantastic, friendly hosts. You can head off for walks directly from the house and Pickering town centre is a 20min walk/2min drive away. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Brilliant! We arrived later than expected after a long day at work with an excited puppy! We were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble! With tea and coffee there were gravey bones for puppy! Room very comfy and very clean but the icing o. The cake was the exceptional food! Will definitely recommend to anyone and we will be regular guests! Thank you.

Just spent the night there for the ukulele train festival. I would highly recommend this wonderful and amazing place to stay. We got the most pleasant welcome. Arrived in the dark in torrential rain, rang for directions as although we were almost on the doorstep just couldnt see our way. We were greeted in the car park and assisted into the most wonderfully furnished accomodation by the recently new owners. Room was so warm and cosy, beds so comfortable, even hot water bottles were available. We were given breakfast menu to order from, at our requested time of serving next morning. A fantastic choice of food which was served to high standards. Couldnt fault the standards in any way at all. Will definately book again when visiting Pickering. Good luck in your venture to the proud new owners I am sure your business will prosper. It was great to view the lovely gardens in the day light when we left you. Well done you added sunshine to our fab festival weekend despite the rain.
