This is a great place to stay, peaceful location with well-equipped and comfortable lodges. Great for a family break suiting our 3 generations: bird watching for the grandparents, hot tub and plenty of space for us and fantastic games barn and football pitch for the kinds. Lots to do in the area.

Amazing experience. Have booked again for next year. Peaceful and just a perfect place to unwind and relax with the family. Towels provided and all your kitchen facilities. Even little shampoos and shower gels. It’s just lovely. Hot tub fab too!

Most relaxing break I have ever had, hosts were so friendly and welcoming Lodge was spotless literally could not fault one thing it was above and beyond in cleanliness Hot tub was so warm in the cold weather and to top it off it is dog friendly 🙌🏼 Felt so welcomed and did not want to leave, can not wait to come back soon!

Loved it! Stayed an extra night, didn’t want to go home! Steve and Sarah are lovely 😊 So clean — the bed spread (I need one, pure heaven ha) Henry my puppy loved it, he thought the goats and rabbits were his friends 🤣🤣. Loved the little outdoor area with table tennis and pool etc! 3/4 min drive to Pickering town centre. Could adjust own heating, and jacuzzi was fabulous right at front door. Plenty of towels, constant hot water, hairdryer and coat hangers in room. Kitchen well equipped fridge, oven, microwave and kettle — plates, cutlery, pots and pans etc etc. Iron and iron board. You felt you were in the middle of no where yet so close to town. Absolutely loved it 🥰 only bad thing — having to come home! X.

This is our 3rd visit and we absolutely love it here. The owners make you feel so welcome. The lodges are well presented and spacious, with an amazing hot tub! There’s lots to do for the kiddies, a lovely park and lots of friendly animals. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a great family few days away!

Nice and quiet with loads of space even with two dogs and the kids of course. Clean and tidy and plenty of space for walking the dogs. Hot tub perfect lovely weekend.

We’ve loved our stay here it’s so relaxing! Nice and quiet. Lovely area to walk around, our lodge was home from home. Nice and comfortable and clean plus we enjoyed using the hot tub!

We recently got back from a week at Barker Stakes Farm and cannot recommend it enough. We had a 3 bedroom lodge with a hot tub overlooking the lake and it was fantastic. Enough space for a family for the week, very clean and very well equipped including a high chair. The hot tub was just the icing on the cake and made for a very relaxing holiday. The site is very well kept with lovely play parks for the kids, big spaces to play outside and a few animals you can go and see. The location of the site was perfect too — just 40minutes from Whitby for a beach day and right on the moors for the more adventurous explorers.

Just enjoyed a 4 night break in the b and b side. Breakfasts were fabulous and so we're the hosts. It was nice to have our own decking area to sit out on at the end of the day too. The lodges all looked lovely and very family friendly.

We had a lovely stay here this weekend, the lodge was clean and tidy and well equipped, we loved the play barn and playgrounds we will definitely be back ☺️

Another Fabulous stay over Christmas, this time at the Waterside Gold. Everything was spot on as usual, this time with the added bonus of the Hot Tub which my Kids especially loved, even in the chilly weather! Thanks again Steve and see you Guys in Summer! xxx.

We have had two amazing stays at Barker Stakes over the past few months and have loved it! It’s so peaceful but has everything we need as a family to really unwind. Perfect for our boys with the football goals on the field and all the surroundings are so well kept, it really is fast becoming another of our ‘happy places’. This time round we stayed in a Paddock Gold with a hot tub. The hot tub is amazing and the lodge was so spacious and lovely to wake up to a view of the horses and alpacas! Close to the lovely Pickering village and Dalby Forest there is plenty to explore! The owners are so lovely, nothing would be too much trouble. Can’t wait to go back again!

We had a few days in a lodge and it was perfect. Nice and relaxing. We liked it that much we came back a couple of days later to stay in the B&B. Lovely clean rooms. Qwners are on hand to help with anything as w found out when we decided to stay another night, it's as if we never wanted to come home.

We had a really lovely stay here this week. It is a perfect place to bring children with all the animals to see and parks and games to play. It would also be perfect without the kids too as it is so peaceful and quiet.
The grounds are immaculately kept, and nice and safe for children playing. The owners are friendly and welcoming.
The lodge we had was a perfect base, comfortable and clean and had everything you would need, lots of towels and comfortable beds.
We would happily stay here again.

We have just returned from a couple of nights stay here. It was fab! Steve and Sarah were so lovely and welcoming! the lodge was lovely, it was clean and comfy and right near the play area for the kids. Loads for them to do and play on and see! we will definitely be back.

First class welcome, cosy and comfy accommodation, with every home comfort. Fabulous location and great for walking our dog. Thoroughly recommended.

What can I say, wow, this place is amazing, we did a last minute booking yesterday and got here pretty late last night. We are lucky to have one of the log cabins on the lake, the views are amazing, the cabin is amazing, our 2 year old loves it and he made friends with one of the alpacas this morning
Very helpful on site. We hope to visit again.

We arrived late so did not get to see the grounds properly, our room was very warm, comfortable and inviting and the bed was one of the most comfortable we have had at a B&B and we travel quite a lot
When we saw the grounds this morning we were blown away as there is a children's play area, alpacas and even a pool table on site
Breakfast was ample with a variety of cereal etc on offer
Would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Breakfast was delicious Steve had full English and I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs yesterday a Friday poached eggs on toast and all were delicious.

Peace and quiet with a lovely atmosphere and really good owner's.

We've had a lovely couple of nights here and I'm so pleased I found this place. Massive room (with own kids room as a bonus), delicious breakfast and loads of outside space for my energetic 6 and 9 year old to run of their never ending energy. Loved the animals and the closeness to Flamingo Land and Pickering. Will be back soon to try out a lodge and hot tub. Owners also extremely friendly.

This is fabulous gem of a place! if you're looking for top class lodges, in a tranquil setting and a safe place for kids, this is it! See you again soon!

What a wonderful three nights we’ve had a Barker Stakes farm! Lovely family room perfect for our family of four. Delicious breakfasts! And perfect for flamingo land! Super play area and farm animals too! We will be back!

Excellent service amazing place quietest place ever.

Last night was our second time here, this time with our 20 month old son. Absolutely lovely, everyone so friendly and amazing breakfasts. Even the little one got his own breakfast on a child proof plate (thank goodness). Won’t be leaving it 3 year before we are back again.

Really lovely lodges in a peaceful picturesque setting, fantastic for dog owners and families with kids and very near to Pickering and plenty of nice restaurants pubs takeaways and attractions.
Our only thing we'd have liked would have been to be within walking distance of a pub but it really wasn't an issue (you could walk it but I'd say it would be a tidy 40 minute walk so didn't suit us with a toddler)

Avril and I have been twice now and both times we have found Sarah and Steve to be excellent hosts the rooms are inviting and comfortable, and the food that Steve serves up is second to none. I would recommend Barker Stakes Farm to anybody who wants a stress free short or long stay, Avril and I will certainly be returning soon.

Just stayed here to go to flamingo land with our 5 year old. Stayed one night but was really lovely. Good accommodation, we were in b&b but still good to have kitchen facilities and opened into a nice courtyard and own seated area on the other side so was great and the lodges that were already booked up looked great.
Lovely play area and animals for kids, would definitely recommend, excellent breakfast.

A lovely peaceful place to relax or to base yourself for touring the lovely North Yorkshire Moors. Well equipped and comfortable cabins. Very satisfied with my stay here.

Came here after a busy day at flamingo land! Steve was very welcoming and showed us around! We booked for the double room with breakfast for £80 but we was upgraded to the 4 poster bed room! THANKS STEVE! the room and the area was just bliss and was nice to sit on our private decking enjoying the weather! The Spice4u restaurant 5 minutes away is out of this world! Breakfast was amazing never went without anything! If I could of stayed here longer I would do! This place is such a little gem and VERY good value for money! Thanks again Steve for a lovely nights stay!

I stay in a lot of hotels & B&B’s with work and rarely leave reviews, but credit where credits due! I’ve been here for nearly 3wks now and absolutely loved it. Such a tranquil, beautiful setting and I’ve had the best undisturbed sleep (which is much needed after a long days graft), with the only sounds you hear being from the farm animals in the morning! Pickering is lovely and it’s also only a stones throw from the beautiful Yorkshire moors, Whitby, York etc. N. Yorks is such a nice neck of the woods! Also the hosts Steve and Sarah really couldn’t be nicer or more accommodating. The other 5 star reviews say it all, and I’m more than happy to add mine to the growing collection. Hopefully I’ll be back again one day!

Lodges are lovely and very clean. The owners are friendly and always available. Set in a quiet area but only a few mins drive from supermarkets. First time here but will definitely stay again.

Great place to relax. We took my mum for her birthday. My little girl loved the animals and park. The lodges are very comfy and got your own privacy with gates around your lodge. We also got breakfast and I will recommend bacon sandwich, mother and partner got full and wee one got to write down what she would like cooked. You can also help yourself to juice and mike fruit yoghurt and cereals. I will recommend to everyone also you can also get dvds and other stuff at reception. Very clean and tidy… and can't thank staff enough. Very close to Flimingo Land (can see it from the goats) we went York didnt take long to get there and parking was easy price not too bad but free always better.

Left here today after a wonderful weekend! Was a super last minute booking but Steve, the owner, was amazingly helpful and got us booked in on the same day. Our two lodges where beautiful, they where side by side, great for celebrating the two 30th birthday’s which we were away for. Considering the weather (-1 and 5 inches of snow! ) both the lodges where super toastie and very comfortable (gold and silver lodges) for a party of 9 and 3 dogs. Little one has come away crying as she didn’t want to leave, and neither did we! We are already looking to book again for the summer. Amazing place! Loved it, thank you.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. Breakfast was gorgeous and the scenery was lovely from our lodge room. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended and definitely would stay again.

Great lodging. I was here for work but will most likely go back for social. The rooms are in small cabins. They are clean and looked after. The owners are very pleasant and helpful. Highly Recommended if you are staying around the area.

Loved staying in the Woodsman's log cabins on the farm. The cabin is fully equipped with everything necessary to cook meals. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Ample storage and drawers in the bedroom and a bounty of plugs throughout the cabin for all our devices and charging needs. The bed was comfy but a bit on the small side. An enjoyable stay.

Great place to stay. Didn't have the bed and breakfast but stayed in a lodge on thr site. Great sized rooms and the living space was great. Needed a few finishing touches but overall was a quality finish. Great as they accept dogs. Great games area and kids play area. Also they have alpacas. Great family location.

Lovely lodges and really well kitted out. It's the small stuff that makes the difference (actual sharp knives! ) Also, there are alpacas. ALPACAS! Second time here and would recommend to anybody for a chilled trip to the moors. Thanks!

Everything about these timber lodges is fantastic, the attention to detail is fab, even down to ice provided for hubbys g&t! Highly Recommended, will defiantly be back, again and again.

A lovely place, slightly out of the way but still close tactically close to many interesting areas. There is a variety of rooms, from traditional bedroom/bathroom combos to rooms with kitchenettes and bungalows. The management is brilliant, friendly and industrious. The place was clean, looked lovely and breakfast was plentiful and good. For those travelling with family or just yearning for that 'just a bit closer to nature feeling' there is a mini zoo with Llamas, goats, ponies and others, although no noise or distinctive smell was noted.

Excellent relaxing stay, great location away from the hustle but very close to Pickering town centre and transport links. Owners are really nice very and welcoming. Breakfast 5 star cooked to perfection. Stopped in room number 1 whilst on Business locally. Kind regards Andrew.

It's a shame we weren't able to stay longer. The owner (Steve) and his wife have boundless hospitality and create an embracing atmosphere, once at the lodge we enjoyed lots of privacy in an immaculately cleaned and decorated property. There's a table and chairs outside every property and picnic tables in grassed areas. Parking space for a vehicle in close proximity to each property, although I'm sure if you've more than one vehicle there's place to park or nearby on site. The holiday accommodation and amenities have clearly been constructed with the needs of a family in mind, there's a large wooden play fort with slides, swings, lots of space for children to dive about playing ball games without intruding on other residents. Alternatively, there's gates that can easily be latched for children to be kept contained in each accommodation's designated outdoor space (be that decking or a gravelled area). Also kids will love the miniature ponies, rabbits, Guinea pigs, alpaca, Guinea fowl and goats! We brought bikes with us having been to the Dalby forest, there's free and secure bike storage available. Breakfast is a fabulous spread, if you fancy a cooked breakfast fill out an order and leave it at reception the night before… You will get your cooked breakfast if you don't do this, but if there's large parties in it helps the proprietors plan; there's also a much tea and coffee as you can drink and continental breakfast options (not pastries) as you can help yourself to.

We all had a fab time. We stayed in the loft, it was home from home! Very clean, modern & had everything we needed. Steve & Sarah are so lovely, the breakfast is amazing theres so much choice & steve is more than happy to cook your eggs just how you like them! The coffee is so nice & nothing is too much trouble for them. The children's play area is great, the few animals they save are just enough to keep the children interested without it being to noisy or smelly! Thank you for an amazing stay, it was that good we have booked to go in a few weeks for the weekend! An amazing find, can't believe mother & father in-law have only just discovered this place after going to pickering for over 20years!

Very comfortable, quiet and relaxing. Friendly people and fantastic grounds for young and old to enjoy. Lovely accomadation and breakfast. Perfect base for our family trip to sights around Pickering.

Really peaceful. Very family friendly. Friendly and helpful owners who not only took in our shopping delivery when we were late because of traffic but put a fee beers and the tonic in the fridge for us! Hero! Lodges clean and comfortable.

Came for a last minute night with in a hour had booked a week. Very friendly couple, site and log cabins very clean. Great location to explore the region. Great place to stay quite and comfortable. Will definitely be coming back here again and again.

The best you can get for a totally relaxing dog friendly place in the whole of the north of England. I give Barker Stakes farm ten out of ten. I recommend this to anyone even those without pets.

Great hosts, great food, great location. Super for families with young children has great play area and animals to see. I took my mum for her "69" Birthday and she found it very, very relaxing. Recommend the steam/diesal train to Whitby from Pickering.

An absolutely wonderful stay with the wife and children. Barker Stakes Farm is owned by a lovely couple, who were always friendly, courteous and happy to help. Would recommend staying in the waterside cabins which are decorated to a high spec and in great condition. We stayed on a self catering basis with all basic essentials provided. One aspect that could be added to make the experience better would be if the owners offered the option of a luxury (continental) breakfast hamper at an additional cost… with free range / organic (farm fresh) food items. However, the children loved feeding the animals and the fully equipped play area. A great place for the whole family, especially if you are looking to destress in the peaceful yorkshire countryside… We will be revisiting again this year and it may just become one of our regular places for short breaks! Highly Recommended!

Lovely little farm out in the countryside. The accommodation is fantastic. Little wood houses with log burners and comfy beds. The place is very clean. The owners are friendly and welcoming. And the price is great for what you get.

Still here but loving every minute of it, such high class and quality especially for the price! Looking to make a couple of visits this year.

My wife and I recently stayed here for 3 nights. Sarah and Steve were fantastic hosts, and they have obviously spent a lot of time and money making the accommodation and facilities as good as they are. The really filling breakfasts were served in the lovely conservatory area, and our room/accommodation had all the facilities we could possibly want. The surrounding area is peaceful and quiet, with great opportunities for walks through the countryside. Ideally situated to go either west to Helmsley, Thirsk and Masham, or east to Whitby, Scarborough and Filey. In summary, Barker Stakes Farm is a gem, and a great place to stay when visiting North Yorkshire.

We thoroughly enjoyed our three days at barker stakes farm. The accommodation was excellent so was the food. We were given a warm welcome and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. We certainly hope to visit again. J Howard.
