Food was excellent service was good.

Gr8 place… & over looking the sea plus reasonablly priced x.

Cold room waited after 3 went back later said only room available sea view not scaffolding in way no power to shower. No ticket too park car drove round ages too find space. Waited ages for cold breakfast, poor service all the way through. Will not stop there again.

Awful awful hotel! I checked in then checked out about half an hour later! customer service is so bad! I've been waiting for refund for over 2 weeks when I was told it would be 3 working days (which was obviously another lie! the managers never get back to me (which they have said they would on multiple occasions) the staff was so rude! I felt like I was in a hostel not a hotel! when I questioned the face that the pictures online look completely different the man on reception said "There's a thing called Photoshop) no Wi-Fi that actually works! hall ways are disgusting! I didn't even get into my room as the key didn't work after walking around trying to find our room. On arrival the man on reception was just scrolling through his phone, no welcome or anything was ever so rude! when getting into the lift which I was told to do so to get to my room we got stuck and we was inbetween level one and level 2! which is massivly unsafe! I could go on and on and on about how awful this experience was for me! Do not stay here!

Decent food and good staff.

Just stayed there for 5 days its more like a child's playground young students running around and making noise well into the night beer £4 a pint like drinking urine staff no idea how to serve it management crap.

We enjoyed a lovely meal, served by a really friendly French guy. A great view of the sea in a pleasant dining area which was immaculately clean. Many thanks.

I had to give only 3 * due to the first hour the room had a terrible smell of damp. They sprayed the air freshener, however the smell came back. So after two hours I could not cope with the smell. I asked to change rooms which they were most obliging, however I was charged an extra £15 per night for the privlege as the next room was seaview. Other than that, the room was clean. Staff are friendly. Food OK. Waiting for evening meal was a bit tedious for 3 courses as total meal took around 2 hours on a couple of occasions. Felt sorry for reception staff as the one person on duty had to run the reception and the bar at the same time. Making it almost impossible to get drinks at the bar when it came to people checking in from 3pm, just as happy hour is starting.

Really not impressed. Not only was there an extremely limited menu, with not even the most basic of choices such as a burger, fish and chips, or salmon, the quality of the food was also shocking. The table was supplied with dirty glasses and water decanter, the cutlery was peeling and gammy, and the staff appeared to not have cared that we were unsatisfied customers, and thought that a nice compliment was 41p tortilla chips and cheap salsa. We didn't even stay for the first course, what was supposed to be a meat pie looked like luke warm dog food in a pastry case! Would not recommend this place to anyone!

The public areas of the hotel are in pretty good condition. I was happy with the choice and quality of the food available for breakfast, although the sausages were rather bland. I had a room with a sea view on the first floor. The bed was huge and comfortable. The toilet and shower facilities were rather poor. The toilet was in a small cupboard with only just enough room to turn around and sit. The shower room was only one slightly larger. The only basin was in the shower room. All the staff I met were polite, friendly and helpful. I think that the building is in need of some modernisation to improve the guest experience. I would certainly like to see the toilet in the same room as the shower and wash basin, or maybe a small basin in the same room as the toilet. Taking everything into account, I had a pleasant stay here and would just like to see the hotel spend some time and money upgrading the rooms.

What a lovely afternoon tea we had this afternoon on a very wet and windy day. We could not fault it. The sandwiches where obviously freshly made and well filled. Delicious scones jelly and cream and mini cakes. We were served by a really lovely young waiter who couldn't do enough for us. THANK YOU We will be back.

Really nice afternoon tea, staff were friendly and attentive and we had a great sea view from the veranda.

Warm welcome. All staff were friendly. Ate in restaurant and so glad I did, the sea bass was the best I had eaten plus, Hubby enjoyed his chicken. Top marks to Andrea the chef B, fast was plentiful. Our room was pleasant also a good spot for everything regarding positions.

Lovely views of the sea. Food good at the restaurant. Bed creaky and partner felt shower room too small but ok for a couple of nights.

It was nearly perfect the food was great the staff were friendly our room was kept clean only thing is that there was no Bingo not much entertainment, people were going to another hotel for entertainment, we spoke to most people they were saying the same Bingo we would have liked. You could have made money at the bar if you could keep people there, go and check what the other hotels are found as your customers were going elsewhere, thank you Diane Hounsell.

Great location, very nice staff, quite awful rooms. If only owners could invest in refurbishment this would be great place.

This Hotel is great. The room and the sea views is wonderful. Its clean in the room and the Rezeption gives is very professional. Allso the breakfast is so good. I will come back in here, of course^^

Nice location, staff, amenities and breakfast. The bedroom however was tiny with a heavily strained 4ft (small double) bed. It was very hot and noisy, so didn't sleep at all well.

The hotel is located on the Esplanade by the Sea… The small problem is that this place is cut out in 2 parts, a very modern and renovated and the other dilapidated. Lack of luck for me my room was in the old part, pay attention to the offers too tempting… The rooms are clean but quite noisy.

It's a welcoming environment. Cheap and basic, comfortable beds. It's a nice distance from the town and has all the facilities needed. Could be monitored (with regards to cleanliness) more as it is a little dusty and grey, however, is a nice place for a short get-a-way. Have been here a couple of times and my partner and I always enjoy it!

Awful place. Filthy and decadent. We couldn’t sleep at all because many drunk people were in the hotel doing too much noise through the night. The location is nice, but for the same money you can find so much more. Never go back again!

Small room on the courtyard side. Good bedding. Breakfast in the basement is a pity. In front of the channel coming out nice.

I stayed here for only one night following a party in the town centre, which is a 10-15 minute walk away. My room was clean and provided the usual facilities… yes it is dated and a little tired but the bed was comfortable and I had a good night's sleep. I did not stay for breakfast so am unable to comment on the food. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Had afternoon tea today, staff attentive, food excellent especially the warm scones and coffee was very nice, I would definitely go again.

The staff were very polite and helpful but the hotel is very basic. It is clean but very dated and most of the hotel is very cold. Not going to stay there again.

The hotel looked really nice from the front, but was dated inside. It was like a scene from Faulty towers. The lift was a cupboard door, and was like a tardis. You could only fit in 3 people. The room we stayed in was in an awful state, nothing like the pictures that were on there website. I'm pretty sure those photos were taken from another hotel! Our room was really awful. The bed was supposed to of been a double. But was two single beds shoved together with a double mattress thrown over the top. And the headboard wasn't even aligned to the bed. The bedside lamp couldn't even be plugged in because there was no socket. Omg the state of the floor was horrible. Carpet was ripped and really worn, it didn't even look like it had been vacuumed! The bathroom was the funniest set up, I had ever seen. A toilet and a shower with no sink, the sink was in the bedroom. And the hand soap was attached to the shower wall. The shower trickled out with hot and then cold water, and the shower itself wasn't in the greatest condition either. It was falling apart. We were booked into have a view, but the only view had was there back garden full of trolleys. And rubbish. I would not ever recommend this place to anyone! Really it should be closed down. The location wasn't too bad, from the town centre. About a 10 minute walk. Parking was an absolute nightmare! We had to park about a mile away from the hotel, and with luggage it was an absolute nightmare!

Very dated but perfectly fine place to stay if your just using as a place to sleep while exploring the area. Very reasonably priced compared to other similar accommodation in the area.

I attended a works Xmas party recently. The room was a bit spartan but clean as were the ladies toilet. The service couldn't be faulted but the food wasn't great. I was impressed by the conciencious of the staff and the clean glassware and cutlery but as I said it was a bit basic. I didn't take a room so can't comment on that.

Very dated and tired. Noisy at night from the drunken visitors around 2.30. Breakfast would have been better if kept warmer However if you are staying make sure you visit the Indian restaurant next door, excellent food.

Good breakfast but the room was near lift and stairs, next door to in-house Indian restaurant and a small double bed as opposed to standard. Not a comfortable night sleep unfortunately. However staff were very nice.

Stayed Friday and Saturday nights, see view double room. Bed was huge, room clean if in need of an upgrade but for the price would stay again. Not too far from town centre, yards from the beach and a short walk to the pier. Lift is one person at a time and a lot of stairs if you are on the upper floors so beware if this is an issue.

Excellent friendly staff! The hotel is clearly old fashioned but can be seen as "retro". The room was clean and cosy. Definitely s nice place to stay without too many expectations. Paid 10£ plus for a room with a view. Def worthy.

Awful and dirty room, filthy carpet and stained drapes. Dust everywhere! Dirty toilet with no toiletries! Basement restaurant with no standards! One and a half waiters that can't keep up with the guests… fruit salad from a can… "Self service" breakfast in every sense of the word, we had to fetch clean cutlery and napkins for ourselves from another table! No hairdryer and no air-conditioning anywhere in the hotel! They sell a room which is only big enough to be a single as a twin!

We went for afternoon tea which I got through Groupon. On the booking stated we needed nut free food, phone up the day before to check they received the message and they confirmed. We arrived and staff were friendly and we were seated all good but food arrived and waitress told us all the food was gluten free and I questioned why this because we asked for nut free not gluten free. So overall we couldn't eat our afternoon tea as the waitress couldn't confirm the food was nut free.

Friendly staff and fair price for a weekend stay. Facilities are basic and a bit dated but we got everything we needed. Our initial room was too hot (due to service pipes) but they happily moved us. They also provided a fan and baby cot on request. The hotel is right on the seafront a stones throw from pier and beautiful sea views. Would stay again.

AVOID AT ALL COST very very disapointing stay at this hotel. I booked this hotel for last weekend, with my grandparents. We has the worst experience ever! The room I had was not so bad, very basic but ok just for me. My poor grandparents room was awful! It was filthy, sticky table, dripping shower head, not too mention being like sleeping in an oven!, they had a terrible night. I tried bringing this to the managers attention, but absolute waste if time. The guy clearly has little experience in the hotel trade! Would certainly not reccomend!

Great views, good location. Staff vary — some good, some plain rude. Shower lacks strength, more of a trickle but often common in old buildings. Cobwebs on walls and bathroom door wouldn't close. Many faults around the hotel due to lack of maintenance and cost cutting. Breakfast is served in the "dungeon", a dark and dingey place almost subterranean. The hotel changed its name in the Spring but didn't bother to tell us! Hence taking sometime to locate on arrival. DOH! Expensive and more accurately 2 star.

Hotel has got nothing to do with Hilton brand. This hotel needs refurbishing, elevator can take only one person at the time otherwise it will get stuck. Breakfast was poor quality.

Visited here to attend a comedy night. Staff were very courteous and patient answering my questions. Social rooms and bar are perfectly adequate.

Great location. Close to pier and museum, city centre in walking distance. Haven't parking space. Needs to go park in local permissions whose is very busy. We had room without see view. Quite small. All windows was dirty and wind goes through it. Bathroom and wc in room was built in later, very small. Only one power socket. Another one doesn't work. Had TV an tea in room. Medium firm mattress. Over all hotel is clean and nice. Breakfast is served in lowered floor and was needed staff help to find it.

Not much to complain about and around same amount of good stuff as well. Room was reasonably warm, despite fact, that window was stuck in ventilation position, providing us with fresh, cold air. Breakfast was nice. No complaints about the service.

Its bloody terrible. Room is very small very drafty very noisy. Bed is very noisy and uncomfortable. Shower wasn't much use temperature suddenly went very hot. Shower door doesn't close (poor fitting). Paint on bathroom floor. It looks like it was rushed. Room is dated. Never again I'm tempted to sleep in the car.

Just came back a day early from a four night stay, horrible place, food mediocre, only water served with main meal, warm aswell, the hotel is in dire need of refurbishment, nasty smell of damp, on lower ground level, which is where restaurant is situated, the meals are handed out to you after waiting for about 20mins for each serving, not organised at all, told where to sit, even though there were more than enough tables, me and my husband paid an extra £10 per night for a seaview, which we got, no problem there, but the room was not serviced once since the very first day, we used the same towels every day, its almost impossible to have a shower, unless you actually sit on the taps, or press your body to the tiles, the water was either too hot or not hot enough, could not get the combo right, very basic bathroom, 30-40`s style bed and units, with a tatty white melamine wardrobe, on which the doors wouldnt stay shut, because there was no maid service in our room of any sort, we had to ask for tea, sugar, milk, and toilet rolls at the reception and take them up to our room, every day, the entertainment was dire to say the least, these people should not be called entertainers, the staff were helpful and polite, but its a very badly run hotel, that is very tired and dated, and not very clean in some areas, the ad for this hotel, didnt say it caters for the old and the infirm, I have no problem with the old and infirm, but I dont wish to spend my holiday or a short break with

Booked a superior double with view, got the sea view but room was dated, shabby and small. To get to the postage stamp sized basin my shoulders rubbed both walls, nearly impossible to clean your teeth. Shower was in a an over sized cupboard and in 2 days I never got it to run hot or any decent flow of water from it. Breakfast was cold on both days. Just a few of the things which are well below what is expected from a hotel. I complained when I left and wrote an A4 list of the issues I had, to date No response. Followed this up with an Email to the manager and still No response. All in all an overpriced shabby hotel. I have stayed in many hotels and guest houses in Eastbourne and this is the worst. Be warned!

The restaurant is mouldy and has damp up the walls. The food was to a very low standard as most of the available meals were from frozen. My hotel room was not serviced throughout the week and the whole hotel had not been cleaned to a satisfactory standard. I would never return to that hotel ever. There are better hotels in the area, avoid this one at all costs.

Would not stay ever agian. Could not sleep due to a humming noise from a pump running throughout my room. What a waste of money would have been better sleeping in the car.

Great Location and nice clean rooms. Great for holidays. Welcoming bar and lounge area. Enjoyed my stay.

The room was in need of new carpet and one of the mattresses in the twin room was very dirty yet the other one appeared new, the room we were in could do with a curtain on the bathroom window although it was frosted glass. The food was okay, some of it was very good and the service in the restaurant was good, the team worked very hard to service a full room averaging about one server to twenty-five people. Reception and Bar teams were friendly and helpful although the Bar was sometimes understaffed. As for the location one could not ask for more we booked through Just Go Holidays and requested a sea view if possible, they said it could not be guaranteed, but the hotel did provide it and it was very much appreciated, though the road noise was noticeable, but that is the nature of a sea view room in Eastbourne. The lobby and Bar areas have been updated to a good specification and hopefully they will update more of the rooms, some people said there rooms had been updated and were okay others said the bathrooms were a bit small. For the price we paid the overall holiday was good value, the room could have been cleaner. SECOND VISIT, September 2013 Can not fault the hotel team, all make a very good effort to ensure customers enjoy their visit and are well looked after. The food is good but the rooms could do with a better vacuuming (this is my second visit).

Had a sea view room. Very clean and comfortable and warm. Good hearty breakfast to set you up for the day, and free entertainment in the evening. Free local parking. Walking distance to town. Would stay again next time I visit Eastbourne.

Dont know where to start, food was terrible, served between 6:30 and 7:30 p. M only, fire alarm went off at 1: 30 a. M in t he morning, chaos, only one memeber of staff who was foriegn and did not know whta to do, he spent all his time trying to turn the alarm off, this place is a death trap. Never ever again.
