Stayed here for two nights this weekend for 30th and 40th birthday celebrations. Made to feel welcome by all the staff. Each and every staff member was helpful and kind! Great hotel room, everything you need for a weekend away with the girls, good breakfast and lovely views of the city!

Amazing afternoon tea will be coming again the staff were very friendly and helpful beautiful 5* place to eat 5* for the service I received today and top chef Brett see you all soon.

Sue and I have enjoyed many brunches and afternoon teas at the Clayton in Cardiff. The brunches were especially good, although a update version has reduced the prosecco and increased the price. We're well impressed with the staff who have been very good. George is truly excellent! Many thanks to George and the restaurant staff!

Would highly recommend this hotel, very friendly helpful members of staff, rooms very clean and spacious. Relaxing bar area lovely food in the restaurant. Will definitely be returning here in the near future 😊

First ever visit to Cardiff and chose the Clayton to stay for 2 nights, as we were attending the Ed Sheeran concert and travelled down from Manchester. Hotel was lovely and clean and very nicely decorated etc. Downside to our room was the pillows were not what I would call hotel standard, very soft and lumpy. The air con was useless and no opening window. It was 22 degrees in the room so left feeling uncomfortable as it kept turning off and reverting back to heating on, also the toilet seat kept sliding loose. We stayed for 2 consecutive nights but sadly were told we would only receive breakfast for one of the mornings even though we included breakfasts in our booking. We didn't need to checkout until 12 so expected to go hubgry. We checked out at 9ish instead to search for breakfast elsewhere. May seem like minor issues to some but these 2 nights cos us £838 for a twin room for 2 adults! so we expected a little bit more luxury for our money.

No refrigerador in room, no nespresso coffee maker, no shampoo and conditioner provided, and no bottled water or snacks in the room. Very disappointing. 😡

Really lovely spotlessly clean everywhere. Two minute walk from train station. Staff were very friendly, really lovely food and plenty of chose for breakfast. Will definitely stay again.

Myself and 3 friends arrived today to have afternoon tea at the Clayton. We were not impressed with the quality or quantity. Even though the staff were friendly and chatty the afternoon tea was not acceptable. The mini scone was warm and tasty but it was cheap jam and squirty cream. Whoever heard of squirty cream on a scone. There was not enough choice of food. Literally 4 tiny finger sandwiches. I cant even tell you what the filling was. Mini scone 1 minute slither of chocolate cake and 2 postage stamp purple things. Also instead of nice China cups we had mugs with tea bags and a pot of hot water. A tiny pot by the way all for the pleasure of 5p off £20.00 each. I was not amused.

Absolutely disgusting service.
We ordered food and the waiter passed 2 3course meals on a tray to which we couldn't hold the wait and dropped. Only one meal wasn't editable so we only asked for one meal to be replaced. Upon eatting the second main meal, it was extremely dry and did not have a sauce as advertised. We raise a complaint to which the manage agreed with me regarding my deitary requirements to which were discussed at booking. We were then provided with pizza as the kitchen was closed. The pizzas came one at a time meaning we couldn't eat together. And the pizza was disgusting. I didn't even eat a slice. How can you go wrong with cheese pizza. When we complain again, the front desk advised they can send either a pizza or a sandwich (sandwiches that didn't fit the dietary requirements) and the same pizza that we just complained about. When asked how that resolves the complaint, we were told that they were not going to argue with us and we could raise this in the morning. Which left us without food all day!
As the manage was not helpful, we requested his managers details and will raise again tomorrow. In the meanwhile we have not eatten all day as the food is just not editable. Really not worth booking.

We stayed few days ago. From booking through to leaving we had brilliant service. Was my daughter pre 30th mum and daughter time. Hotel upgraded us to executive room. My daughter had a card and a little bottle of gin for her. Such a sweet gesture. Meal in evening was beautiful and breakfast was lovely. Room was great and staff were all lovely. Will 100% recommend this hotel. Central to everything. Xxthankyou clayton for making our stay extra special xx.

My experience has been very positive, social distancing was very good and very thankful to all the staff, service was good housekeeping due to covid risk wasn’t there daily but you can expect that in this time, room was ok bed really comfortable, just some dust in the room when I came in lucky had antibacterial wipes for 4 overall if you need to getaway chose here because it really nice and not far from the station and 20 minutes walk from the bay.

The staff have been fantastic, they all have been helpful and friendly. We stayed in 1020 with a view over Cardiff Bay. The evening meal was great really enjoyed and the breakfast was good too. I will most definitely come and stay here again, the location is perfect too.

We had a bottomless brunch today and were very impressed with both the food and helpful service by staff. In these strange COVID-19 times the hotel has done a fab job to make you feel safe and comfortable. Would definitely recommend — thanks again for a lovely afternoon.

The hotel is in a great location for a visit to Cardiff. The food was of a good standard. However there are only two lifts for a high rise hotel and when we were there one was out of action causing queues or a long stairway walk.

Really enjoyed my visit to Cardiff. It was made better by the wonderful knowledgeable people on the staff. Harvey at the front desk was a wealth of information about getting around the city. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was awesome.

Had Prosecco afternoon tea on sat 17/8/19 which was amazing. We were waited on by Dean who was lovely and friendly. I would highly recommend to all my friends.

Had a proseco afternoon tea. For my birthday, It was out of this world. Dean who served us was absolutely fabulous. So polite and always smiling, made our afternoon most welcoming. Thank you for a lovely afternoon, food was lush highly recommend.

Lovely hotel with helpful staff and very clean and tidy and well organised also. Easy check in. Breakfast was delicious, myself and my 2 children stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed it. We will return if in Cardiff again. Thanks again.

Good but can improve. Curtains were dirty and bathroom was dark. Bar and restaurant were great. Breakfast was poor with the coffee tasting metallic and the pastries we hard. Charged us an extra £5 for not booking breakfast the night before although it was very empty while we ate. No on site parking. Business hotel.

Not a room review. I was there to run a client training session and as such this venue is ideal. Very near to the main station it has a wealth of positives. The staff are knowledgeable and very helpful. Everything is where you want it when you want it. Happy to recommend this as a training venue.

Didn't really feel like a four star. AC never seemed to work in my room even though it was set correctly, found dust and a hair in the room as well and the breakfast was quite limited plus I had a lumpy mattress and couldn't sleep. Overall my stay was alright and the staff are quite nice but it comes across as a high quality three star hotel for me.

Myself and my fiancee stayed here to see Ed sheeran perform on 22nd June. Check in was quick, Given complimentary glass of prosecco and choice of which floor we'd like to stay on. Notice on the board in regards to the performance such as times the gates opened etc which was great. The hotel was very clean, the room was clean and of a nice size. … We felt quite hot so spoke to reception to see if there where any windows we could open, I was advised none of the windows open in the hotel but was offered a desk fan and this was sent up to our room which was greatly appreciated as it worked wonders! The reception staff where very welcoming and accommodating to our needs and nothing was too much trouble. The only two niggles I have is the price we paid for the night, which to be fair all hotels increase their prices when events are on, but this is a 4* hotel and you pay for what you get. And that the shower head is non detachable so some guests may feel this doesn't reach all the areas you'd like. We had a lovely stay and if we return to Cardiff would definitely stay here again.

My friend and I stayed here for an Ed Sherran concert. The hotel is fantastic! Excellent customer service and prompt check in. We had complimentary prosecco and biscuits while we waited in the short que! Our room was lovely, great size and spotless! We were very surprised to find a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us and also a box of chocolates! A lovely touch, thank you.
The restaurant food was also excellent and with room service.
Hotel location is perfect, very close to everything and a 24hr car park at the train station is just 5 min walk around the corner.
Highly recommend and will be back!

Very clean room with excellent comfortable beds and bed linen. Breakfast excellent and good value for money. Only downside is hotel located by quite a lot of bars so not ideal for families although no noise in rooms! Would stay again.

Nice hotel but the movie service is not terrible not to mention the quality of the food which is not really at the height of the hotel.

The Clayton is within five minutes of Central Station so easy access if you arrive by Rail. Check was smooth and the lifts operate via the room cards. I was in room 802 and although I had a view of other rooms and almost nothing else it was clean and reasonable in decor. Everything worked in the room so no complaints from me. Dinner in the hotel was in my opinion overpriced for what you received although everything was cooked well and tasted OK to have to order vegetables as a side was not to my liking. I ended up having to visit a local supermarket to top off my dinner which wasn't the best. Staff were courteous and I would happily return just wouldn't take dinner in the hotel again.

Well where do I start. The Clayton Hotel have been helping me plan my dream wedding for three years and each and every member of staff put in so much effort and made the day amazingly beautiful. I would have been lost without Sue and Rebecca on the day and made me feel so calm. They come up to my room the morning off to see me and sorted out the wedding cars. They helped welcome all the guests and I wouldn't have been so calm without them. The hotel was lovely and clean and the bedroom was lovely with a brilliant view. The food was incredible both the wedding food and the breakfast the morning after. I cannot wait to go back, had such a brilliant 2 days staying in this hotel!

The hotel has a brilliant location as it's a 2 minute walk to the train station. I was there on a training course in one of the meeting rooms. The staff were all very helpful and quick to respond to any requests. The room had tea, coffee and biscuits provided. The range was limited and a coffee machine with hot chocolate would have been nicer. Overall it's a good conference location.

Wonderful location. Excellent staff. Nice room with everything needed, especially the comfortable bed. Buffet breakfast was well cooked and plentiful even with our group of 40+ arriving at about the same time. Breakfast service staff were very friendly and seemed genuinely pleased to see us. I highly recommend this property to anyone.

Exceptional friendly service and nice clean rooms. I want to give a SPECIAL shout out to Lydia she was amazing! Will definitely be staying here again and recommending it to my friends. Just 1 minute mishap by one staff member at breakfast time which I'm willing to overlook just for the rest of the staffs quality service!

Rooms a little small but good breakfast.

The hotel has a very good location in the middle of the city, the service is very good and you get biscuits, water etc. The view is also good, due beds also. There is a TV and a bathtub.

A really nice hotel! I can only recommend to anyone who travels to the beautiful Cardiff. :)

Very spacious room, the plus is that there is a sheep at the entrance with which you can take pictures.

Overall a great hotel to stay at, primarily because of the location. There's just so much to do within a five minute walk of the hotel. Rooms are nice and clean, nothing to get too excited about. Everything you'd expect was provided at breakfast.

This is a clean and friendly highrise city centre hotel, a bit worn around the edges. It's reasonably priced. The food is nothing to write home about but what you'd expect. I found the staff friendly and helpful. The air conditioning is ferocious. The location is excellent, right in the centre of Cardiff and within very easy walking distance of the train station. There is a cab rank just around the corner.

The hotel is helpfully situated right next to Cardiff Central Station. Staff were very polite and welcoming. The rooms are a little smaller than some chain hotels but perfectly functional and clean. My only complaint was that our end room was wonky due to the shape of the building, which was made more obvious by the striped carpets, but that's just me! If you're after a good view, make sure you request a room that isn't overlooking the busy rail tracks, the view from the bar and dining room however was great for people watching. We had afternoon tea and breakfast in the restaurant which were both of a high standard and even at what appeared to be a busy time of the morning, food was hot, fresh and plentiful. This was my second stay at the Clayton Hotel and I would stay again.

Good hotel, excellent location. 2 minutes from Cardiff Central station, the bars, shops and clubs. The breakfast was nice and very filling with lots of options. When we had an issue they were quick to resolve. Only downside was, there was no fridge in the room, the bath was plastic and felt a bit flimsy, the drainage on the bathroom sink was very nosy. Would I stay here again. Yes, definitely.

A fantastic hotel in close proximity to Cardiff railway station. The staff are really friendly and attentive. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bar is great for a few drinks before you retire in the evening and is also great for breakfast in the morning too. I'd highly recommend staying here.

Very Comfortable Hotel. Ideal for visiting the city of Cardiff… It is easily reached from the airport by bus T9. Stops right in front of the hotel.
Soundproofed. Spacious… Conodi beds.
At the cost of 69 pounds. A very good 4 star at an affordable price.

Great city location within easy walking distance of all of Cardiff shopping. The hotel and rooms are modern and stylish and the restaurant offer a lovely view. Literally a minutes walk from Cardiff Central train station. Will stay there again for sure.

Awesome resturant. They happily server 90+ customers with easy. The food was good value and taster above average for the price. Highly recommended to attend. It has wonderful views to centre of Cardiff and affording bar. Perfect place for a group venue.

Hotel and rooms deserve 4 stars. Comfy bed but a little small. Only a double instead of a king size as seems the norm elsewhere. Good shower etc. Breakfast was a 2 or 3 star affair. Buffet selection is good but food was cold to luke warm. Eggs over cooked etc. We did have afternoon tea there too. That was good.

Christmas party last night and overnight stay. This must have been one of the best hotel Chistmas events I have ever attended. From arrival to the end of the evening the staff have been amazing. A big shout out to Sue (you must be given a pay rise) she was brilliant. The staff were so welcoming, food amazeballs, hotel location fabulous for pre party shopping, Party room just the right size, great disco. Our room is comfortable, clean with everything we needed. Cannot find any fault, would highly recommend and can't wait to return.

I was aware that there would be no parking but there is absolutely no where to park just to drop bags off. Booked an executive room and had a view of a wall with bird crap. Bar area is too small with not enough seating with a poor selection of drinks on offer. Room was dirty and bathroom stank of urine. Had to queue for breakfast. Would not stay again.

Lovely hotel with helpful staff. It is literally 5 minutes' walk from Cardiff Central station — you come out of the station's main entrance, look to your right and you will see it. The hotel is also within walking distance of a large shopping centre and lots of eateries. You could also walk to Cardiff Bay and the Millennium Centre; about 30 minutes. Sounds a lot, but you relax by the pier when you get there! The hotel itself was clean and had good facilities, including a small but adequate gym. The breakfasts were served at a good time and were fantastic! All in all, I would go there again. Definitely recommended.

Had prosecco afternoon tea at the Clayton hotel for my mam's birthday treat. It was absolutely beautiful and our waiter victor was so polite and couldn't have done enough for us. Definitely recommend a visit.

Very nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Afternoon tea is great with loads of sweet treats. The hotel is right on the edge of the city centre and it is a nice walk down to Cardiff Bay. I look forward to my next visit.

Rooms were comfy and had Sky TV which was a bonus. We had the 3 course dinner as part of an offer and it was nice. Breakfast left a bit to be desired though. All staff were friendly and efficient. Can't fault the location, right next to the train station and town.

An ideal location for visiting anywhere in Cardiff centre, be it shopping, bars or restaurants. Excellent welcome at reception and great service in the restaurant when stopping for afternoon tea. Afternoon tea is a must, plenty of yummy treats and refills of drinks if wanted Comfortable, well laid out rooms with shampoo/conditioner and body wash, bottled water, tea, coffee and biscuits and a safe. Breakfast was pleasant, although a bit disconcerting that the wait staff were using their dusters on chairs and then tables! Plus carrying crockery against their bodies or with fingers inside cups or dusters in their hands. We wiped everything we used before use. The plates were also extremely hot with no warning or napkins close to hand. The variety of food was excellent though! We really enjoyed our stay, so much so we've already booked for our Christmas shopping trip and will probably use this hotel instead of our usual one.

Lovely hotel, very close to all the shops. Friendly staff, nice surroundings. Rooms were clean, with clean sheets hot drinks making facilities. Toilet and bathroom were nice and clean. Lovely shower and bath. A safe was available for your valuables. Free Wi-Fi that you didn't need a code to get into which was great, no hassles. Ironing board and iron, big TV and comfy beds. It was a pleasure to stay here and I would deffo go back and stay again…

The Clayton hotel was a lovely place to stay. The room we had was spotless and had all the amenities we needed. The food was very enjoyable, however my partner did get food poisoning during our stay, which we can't say was from the hotel or not. The staff, upon learning this, were very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable and were apologetic that it happened during our stay. The only issue we had was the rooftop cinema that was near the hotel, which was loud and did play movies until almost midnight.

A comfortable hotel located in the centre of Cardiff: you cross the street and you are immersed in historic Cardiff. In 5 minutes walk you arrive in fact to the castle, in 10 to the National Gallery. The accommodation is comfortable, and the reception quick. Quiet and well served, it has a good breakfast buffet.

This was just a one night stay but I was very pleased with the whole experience. We were greeted by a very friendly and efficient Irish receptionist who made us feel very welcome and within 30 minutes of arriving we were sampling our complimentary cocktails and afternoon tea. The room itself had a double and a single and was very well equipped. It was modern, very clean and I had fantastic sleep. Breakfast was hot, tasty and varied and the young man who served me was friendly and capable; I enjoyed the view and the newspaper whilst savouring a pot of tea and hot pastries. I would happily stay here again.

Nice hotel, quick and efficient check in, clean and tidy room. Great location for exploring Cardiff but the only thing to note is if you're a really light sleeper you might be kept awake by the trains entering and leaving Cardiff station. This wasn't an issue for us but worth considering. Overall very happy with our stay.

I stayed the day 19 of June in the room 320 of this hotel, nothing more enter in the room music high and noise of them way to the step told of trains, when ask change of room I say that there is a party private and that ends to them 22 hours, that already have contacted with the responsible of the party and is it has confirmed.
Me was as and return has my accommodation, this were them 20 hours, to them 22, 35 return to reception and I say that is that it party is until them 23 hours, when me put seriously and ask change of room is deny and ME offer PLUGS for them ears, then ask is alert to the police and threatened with the publication of them photos of them plugs in Internet These threats, they call the director and this flame by phone and magic, 30 seconds to catch the phone music is finished.
Inexplicable this attitude.

What an Experience! From the moment Rhiannon picked the phone up to answer my enquiries to leaving the hotel a day later the level of customer service we received was Amazing… Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Great rooms. Superb breakfast. Cocktail making Class a Revelation! Afternoon Tea! Amazing! This hotel and its staff, especially Rhiannon and Patrick are an exemplar on how to ensure people visiting the City receive the Very Best service. We (14 of us) could not fault any aspect of our stay. I am sure we will all be back. Thank you Clayton Hotel. Thank you!

Nice hotel, centrally located and a gym.

Hotel was comfortable and pleasant for a few days stay. The room was fine, and had a good view out over Cardiff. Breakfast was good although some parts were subpar (sausages and bacon). Staff very friendly and happy to help. Be warned that parking is £9 a day at the nearby NCP and needs to be validated shortly before leaving.

Right from the start lovely welcome from staff at reception. Got the room it was really clean and a great view from the 7th floor overlooking great western Beds were amazing to sleep on. Would defo stay here again Cheers.

I stayed in this hotel in 2013 when ti was called the Maldron. The room was very well appointed and clean, with great views of the city. If you;re looking for a nice hotel close to the train station, I recommend this.

Tried to get a room the other night, Staff said there was only a smoking room left… sorry, I don't think you have smoking rooms. Would never consider this hotel again based on the unhelpful front desk experience.

Beautiful modern hotel in the centre of Cardiff. Handy walking distance to all the major attractions including Cardiff Castle and Millennium Stadium. Very affordable rooms. Food could do with some improvement, but pricing is very reasonable.

The rooms are nice The staff are nice Location is good The Wi-Fi is way too slow for any business use — rubbish The showers are a bit weak Overall OK but needs some of the small details ironed out.
