It's an old tree in a wood by the river. A beautiful spot. If you like nature and trees it's interesting but beyond that there's not a lot to do. There is another old tree next to it.

Lovely walks by the side of the tay river surrounding the birnham oak tree among others beautiful area for everyone.

Come and see one of the oldest trees in the world. It is beautiful.

Little known but worth the experience of discovery. The Birnam Oak is part of the former Birnam Woods, mentioned in Shakespeare's Macbeth. This is the last remaining tree. Park opposite the Birnam Art institute, cross the road and you'll see a sign saying 'To the Oaks'. Walk down the path and follow it until you go down some steps. At the bottom of the steps look left and you'll see a huge tree with a sign (see pic). As you approach and you read the words, the sign humorously says "It's not me, I'm a sycamore, keep going! ". And keep going you should because you''ll come to upon a grand old father of a tree, its weary arms propped up with wooden supports. Quite breathtaking to think this tree is around 300 years old.

Very quiet, interesting landscape invites you to dream. Impressive ancient giant gnarled oaks right on the river. A magical power place.

Lovely walk, but be careful walking dogs due to the river tay, especially if it's high.

A unique and interesting place to visit. It's a nice setting with the woods along the river bank. There was no picnic area etc it's just a walk and a famous tree so not really a place to visit with children unless they enjoy walks in the woods and Shakespeare.

Well worth the short walk from Birnam.

Had a wonderful walk with the kids the husband and our dogs, from the Errigmore estate. As I'm a huge fan of Macbeth, this was a treat to see.
