Avoid! Unfortunately it was not the experience we hoped for.
The bed was slanted on one side so it was an uncomfortable nights sleep. When we spoke to the host about this on checkout our comment was rudely dismissed and no apology. First impressions appeared to be friendly, but below his smile was a hint of arrogance and aggressiveness in his communication style.
There was a layer of dust across most of the surfaces in the room, with a large cobweb to the right of the dressing table. The pubic hair in the shower also left questions as to the standard of cleaning in between guests.
No tea of coffee, water glasses facilities in the room.
Towels smelt musty.
Breakfast was sausage, egg and bacon or porridge which had the consistency of glue. No cereal options or any fruit. Not what you expect from a ‘4 star’. Would be very interested to know who gave the rating — maybe they need to revisit?
The host doesn’t take constructive criticism well and on any review will accuse the customer of being a ‘liar’ and will provide a list of defensive responses.
Lovely little bed a breakfast. Michael is very welcoming and friendly. Very comfortable bed/room clean and cosy. I will definitely be back. Thank you James cottage for the best stay.
