Lovely hotel. Room clean and staff very friendly. Food Was great great scenery.

Very tasty food with good service. Nice atmosphere and a good view of the loch, albeit a very foggy one.

Attractive, comfortable bar, friendly, helpful staff, good food and beer, beautiful setting — what's not to like?

What a hotel n the food superb. Fishing is great, trout, salmon and other fish to catch. There is history around the area and hotel.

Had a nice lunch today and lovely views across the Harry Loch with the hills of Stromness and Hoy in the background.

Lovely evening meal by a roaring fire in the bar. Helpful staff and delicious food. The steaks were delicious and the side salads were imaginative, well presented and included plenty of variety.

The staff were really polite and caring, rooms were comfortable and dinner at the Merkister was incredible.

Only stopped for coffee but I was not disappointed. Lovely hotel, we sat in the garden overlooking the water. Excellent price and a lovely coffee and pouring cream.

Great service and very good atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious especially the scapa delight. Would recommend!

I visit Orkney about 3 or 4 times a year, and just about every time I do I go for a meal at the Merkister Hotel. Set with beautiful views and a cosy bar and restaurant, it's a warm and welcoming place to have something to eat and drink. The staff are all helpful and have always made an extra effort for kids. The food is lovely, fresh and we'll presented. And the portion sizes are generous (which works for me). There is a good variety on the menu, with daily specials (my favourite was the black pudding and scallops). Prices are competitive and won't break the bank. I will continue to visit the Merkister Hotel and enjoy its fare for years to come.

Beautiful scenery and excellent food and service.

Visited for dinner. The food was not anything exceptional. Decor was extremely out-dated. Quite small. Over-priced for the low level of service and quality of food. (On a better note: had a nice garden outside and view of the Loch).
