Loved my stay here staff friendly and the place is spotless. Food was amazing. Great place.

Lovely room and helpful staff. We had dinner in the bistro and would recommend. Our room. Was spacious clean and comfortable. Shower amazing.

Yet again stopped over whilst tending to some unpalatable family business midweek… straightforward service with a good breakfast all booked on line, many thanks again.

Had a lovely day at the lunch with Santa food was great and the staff were lovely and couldn’t of made us more welcome Special thanks to “Rhys the elf” totally made my little boys day. Such a nice wee guy even got “Santa” to phone my wee one for a special chat xxx.

Lovely building, close to shops and train, lots areas of hotel need upgraded, our room was nice size, bit out dated and tired looking. We had food first night and not recommend over priced, not taste good yes did say to staff, we paid for full breaky for 2 nights but due covid said couldn't so had have breakfast in bag which ok was ok but if serve meals with table service then surely they do table service for breaky.

Only half through our stay, but impressed already. Check in was easy, room delightful, views to die for. Had an evening meal last night which could not have been better, sumptuous flavours and great service. Breakfast was filling and ample although chef should keep some heat through the scrambled eggs! Really couldn't fault this hotel.

This was the second year we have spent our New year here. It is excellent. Friendly staff fantastic food. And lovely warm and clean rooms. I highly recommend it. X.

Stayed above main entrance. Nice fresh room and very clean… nice view. Breakfast was a plenty and fair quality.

Food disgusting, lentil soup more like baby puree (3-6mths). Roast dinner vile — eaten better frozen roast dinners would not recommend.

The location was the best thing about this hotel since it’s next to the Rail station and the shops. Clean and very friendly polite staff. The lift doesn’t reach to the fourth floor. My room was nice with a view on the church next to it. But my parents room wasn’t as good and wide as mine so it depends.

Freindly staff rooms out dated needs a revamp not worth £145 anight.

At first glance, the hotel is beautiful and imposing. We quickly became disillusioned when we were told that the only elevator available was unavailable, while our room was on the 4th floor. The hotel stayed in another era and everything is old. The rooms smell of frying, furniture fully worn. Breakfast is full but tasteless, shells in scrambled eggs! In short, not great.

Booked me on the 3rd floor although I told them both my wife and I are disabled and had to be moved to the 1st floor and a lift that was out of order so had to struggle up and down the stairs. Breakfast was buffet which was in another room eggs you could bounce off the floor bacon and sausage was cold. Overall the place was very tired looking especially the outside.

Date hotel overpriced for the service it gave us. Elevator broke and for a long time looking at the other reviews we had the room on the fourth floor too many steps! On the other hand the room was nice.

Great stay despite seeing mixed reviews before we stayed. Not a lot of hotel choices in FW, so we took a chance and were pleasantly surprised. Room was dated but charming at the same time. Very spacious room, nice sitting area and view of water. Floor was creaky and uneven. Elevator was broken but they offered to carry luggage upstairs. Breakfast offering was very great, quality and choices were more than enough. Very good location, there were 3 food choices within 2 blocks, 10+ food choices within 5 blocks, all in pedestrian area nearby. Would stay here again if in FW. Staff was very nice and pleasant.

This Hotel is a very lovely family run place, and which most things asked of them is no problem.

Well for a one-night step, 2 at most. The front is nice, but the rooms are antiquated… On the other hand, I put 3 stars because the breakfast is very good.

Review for bistro restaurant only: Very slow service, including four separate requests before we received water for our table. The wait staff were very busy as many tables and not enough staff. Food was decent in flavor but nothing special.

The Alexandra was right for the price. The walls are paper thin so we heard everything, included breakfast was passable but nothing to get excited about, the king bed we were in had a seam in the middle, and the lights gave a sterile white glow. Good location if you are just looking for a cheap place to crash, but I wouldn't want to spend my vacation at this hotel.

Lovely toastie. It's now a Bistro new menu. Some items expensive compared to before hence Bistro. Also it has been renovated looks good.

Very basic and dated. Rooms are clean. Ok if you are crashing for the night but wouldn't stay for the week. Restaurant was ok food wasnt as posh as its made out to be on the menu. The continental breakfast was basically cereal and toast. Service from waitresses and bar staff was good, very attentive.

Never disappointed with this hotel. Have been coming here for over 20 years!

Lovely classical style hotel right in the centre of town, lovely clean well appointed rooms, friendly staff, Wi-Fi and parking also great.

Been to this hotel several times in the past and apart from some dated decor it's a nice hotel. Friendly staff and the feed is really good. Been centrally locating the town is also a bonus.

Lovely hotel for who likes the old place, this hotel from 1862. But it’s a nice place, clean and warm. Excellent location, comfortable bed and very good shower, power of water flow is a great. Breakfast was great, the staff was kind and lovely. I think the hotel is good for two days only, because we hear everything from outside the room, everyone who walks and chatting.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff is anxious, but can not change much in the awful condition of the house.

Room was decent, stayed in better but also stayed in worse. Breakfast was great, good choice and well presented. The bar is expensive and a bit Dean, £11.05 for a pint of lager and a prosecco?

We were there on Nov 7th,,, hotel was spotless and the room nicely decorated. Though small. We only booked for one night but it would have been cramped if we stayed longer. The elevator is old and slow. Two average size people and one suitcase fills it up. The breakfast buffet was one of the most abundant I have seen … On the second floor we could not find our room. An arrow pointed in the direction but no room … there was no signage to tell us we had to go through a fire door to the other corridor. The staff at reception and restaurant were very helpful and obliging. Our one complaint that ruined our stay was that the room windows had been left open and the heating was off. We had walked from the bus station in a cold rainy day and we were frozen. Looking forward to a nice warm room,,, the room was so cold we couldn't even sit on the beds or chair they were so cold, we had to put a towel under our rearends. Our coats were wet so we hung them in the bathroom and it took hours for the room to heat up even then the cold had penetrated the beds and they were still freezing when we lay down at ten P. M. I cannot imagine who thinks it appropriate to turn off the heat and open the window in a hotel in the Scottish Highlands in November,. Sadly it ruined our little trip we will survive.

We stayed here for 4 nights in November. The rooms are nice with everything you would expect from a hotel of this age. I would not want to turn up to a hotel like this and have a modern room as it would spoil the whole experience. Breakfast is excellent and the staff are friendly. We were working here and we normally get put in a premier inn but I am glad the one accross the road was full up.

We stayed in a standard double room. Very clean rooms. Bed and pillows above average. Staff excellent. Breakfast very good. Good value for money.

You can walk to the high street, next to the station and next to a lake. The downside would be parking. Before I booked the hotel, I checked online about this hotel. People mentioned about the motorbike parking issues. I do have similar issues. I was lucky to get the last parking space available. I saw others arrived later struggle to get a space.

The staff were outstanding especially the front desk staff. The bistro was fine for dinner. Our first room had a very unpleasant smell. Happily they switched us to another room which was fine. The building is tired and make sure you get a refurbished room. The location is great and there is plenty of parking. Using postcodes for gps will lead you astray!

The staff at the Alexandra were all lovely, really pleasant and helpful when we arrived. Our room was nice and breakfast had plenty of choice. Couldn't fault our stay, we'll definitely be back.

The location was stunning and very close to both the loch and the shops. The dining experience was great — however there was not much variety for vegetarians. The staff were very accomodating and offered to make one of the starters a main for us.

This is a really pleasant place to stay in a beautiful little coastal village. The views are amazing and if you love sea food then definitely eat here too. Well worth a stop off even though its a little off the beaten track.

A very dilapidated hotel that needs a lot of renovations. It smells bad all over the building. Dinner has been fine but scarce.

The staff is nice and very helpful, but the hotel itself is not worth the money. It's an insult that you have to pay more than 100 pounds a night. The hotel is worn out, outdated and lacks any sense of quality.

The room was a 3 single bed with shower bath TV great room… the breakfast was to die for all the food was top notch… will be recomending to anyone going to fort william. The staff were so welcoming…

After being moved as a result of smelling gas in our room, we were granted a better room with a king size bed. For dinner, we ate in their bistro. Food was decent but nothing spectacular. The bed was very comfy and had a good night's sleep. Room seemed to have been refurbished recently to a moderately high standard. In the morning, breakfast was sufficient and plentiful. It was a self serve buffet style with plenty of choice. Cooked breakfast, cereal, croissants, rolls, bread, toasting facilities and a host of fruit juices were available to choose from. You were also either brought tea or coffee by the breakfast staff. Couldn't fault the staff and an excellent central location in Fort William with free parking. Pets are welcome at this hotel.

Came here as a wee last minute get away for myself and my husband, we got a fantastic deal dinner, bed and breakfast, room was lovely great big bed, staff where soooo nice and helpful from the very minute I phoned to book it they couldn't do enough even giving us wee extras to make our stay even better, the food at the bistro was delicious! I was stuffed by the time I had finished my main course I didn't think I would fit my dessert in that's when the waitress said we could take our desserts to our room to enjoy later once we had space (so nice), the hotel is being renovated at the moment so yea the carpets along the corridor are worn and yes there maybe a few cracked tiles and it needs a lick of paint but it doesn't ruin it or take it away from an enjoyable night, they must be sorting the rooms first then working on the rest as our room was immaculate with a big TV and fresh bathroom, it's beyond a bargain for what you get and we will defo be back, can't recommend enough.

It's noisy with creaky floorboards everywhere. There's no free Wi-Fi in the rooms. The rooms are in need of a refresh, with cracks in the bathroom tiles. It is pretty convenient for the town centre and train station though, and the breakfast buffet is pretty decent.

Room was clean, and had a wonderfully comfortable bed, however some improvements needed! Very tired decor, and staff could be more attentive. Food very disappointing — not worth the money spent. Unfortunately wouldn't stay again.

The Alexandra is highly recommended for short stays in Fort William. The rooms are clean and well appointed, although perhaps sometimes on the smaller side. The food is good, with generous buffet breakfasts and a good dinner selection. One drawback worth noting — there is no Wi-Fi in any of the rooms, although it is available in the lobby.

Nice experience. Ecerything is fantastic and the price is reasonable.

We had an comfortable stay our room was an generous size and kept clean the meals were very good with helpful staff and located in a very good position for shops and train station.

We only went for tea but waiters did not know what "cream tea/ afternoon tea" was and were very unfriendly. Scone crumpled away on plate and was inedible without spoon! Staff was more concerned about refilling candles then waiting our table.

I stayed here for two nights, and had a very comfortable stay. My double room was large enough for 5 people to gather in for drinks one evening, and the mattress was excellent. We got a packed lunch one day to take on our hike up Ben Nevis, and it was quite good. This isn't a particularly fancy hotel, but it's well-located and clean. Good water-pressure in the showers, free fizzy and flat bottled water in the rooms, what more do you need? One tiny complaint — we checked in on a Saturday night, and were told that breakfast was served until 10am. No one mentioned that that's only true for Sunday mornings, and on Monday, we came down to find that breakfast was over, which is a little annoying since it's included in the price.

Only been to restaurant which is managed quite badly: — few and uneven quality of staff — toilet facilities are disgusting — food is ok, however prices are quite high: min. 8£ for starters and 10£ for mains (most around 16£ range).
