Just stayed at this hotel. Staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly. We had an evening meal then breakfast and I could not fault the food. We had a large room with views over the bay. Probably the best hotel room I've ever had. Just perfect.

Lovely late breakfast on a wet day after waking the dogs who were made very welcome in the cosy conservatory and even got a wee sausage each. Delicious food and cosy atmosphere and fab service I would highly recommend coming here and they serve food all day too 😍🐾

Lodges are not clean and badly in need of decorating. Furniture, fixtures and finials were either broken or rusted. Holes in walls too. Breakfast wasn’t the best either, poor quality ingredients considering it was over a tenner for a cooked breakfast and also the order came in two parts due to staff stating that some foods were still frozen out back… in the kitchen. Late evening there was a party atmosphere near to the lodges due to drunk rowdy customers which went on until the early hours. Not a pleasant stay and thankfully it was only a one night stay. I cannot remember the last time I have given such a negative review but on this occasion this should be shared to other potential visitors.

Staff are brill couldn’t do enough to help and very friendly. Could not fault my stay x definitely book there again. Also food was fantastic x.

Fantastic wedding venue, the food was delicious and the staff were amazing they really went out of their way to help make our day so special.

Really enjoyed a good meal, the meal was delicious and there was so much food. Very friendly. I had the chicken and ribs meal. Will definitely eat there again.

This was our cheapest hotel/lodge so far and by far the best. Would definitely recommend this to anyone that wants to listen.

Had a lovely meal in the Weigh Inn on Tuesday evening, felt very safe, the staff were excellent, the food was great and the service was second to none, will defo be back.

Was visiting Thurso to c family and we had fab day at Weigh inn with all cautions in place well done to staff… and food was fab.

While on holiday from plymouth we visited JOGroats drove thru Thurso & came across this Hotel. Decided to have some lunch & how lovely it was too. The locals were very friendly & started up conversations. Will deffinately visit again next time were that way. Thankyou guys x.

Clean n tidy nice ppl good beer n food well worth a visit.

Turned up hoping for accommodation late evening after a difficult 3 day journey and missed boat. A little strung out with two kids and two dogs (800 miles driving). Person at reception was kind and helpful. I was apprehensive about the room as not researched the place, but clean, cosy and safe room. Decent dinner and brilliant breakfast. Staff nice. Stayed in a 'posh' (expensive) hotel the night before which wasn't anywhere near as nice as the Weigh Inn. Will definitely stay again, we enjoyed our stay.

Disappointing lunch, how can you go wrong with a Ploughman's, no coleslaw, no dressing on salad, no pickle, just like a bit of left over roast beef, part of a bit of ham. Warm chips. Hardly anyone in and still waited 45 mins at least.
Shame because nice bar and staff.

Just spent 2 nights here in a lodge and we have had a brilliant stay. Food was brill thank you everyone.

Really good homely food. Bar staff and waitresses very nice. Only down side was my coffee was warm and not hot but hey no worries on that. Prices are very reasonable. Thanks. Will be back soon.

First time here rooms are big Meals a very good Would come back here again.

The hotel is quite large and has a large set of outbuildings, decidedly impersonal: we stayed in one of these. The rooms are spacious, the bed comfortable, the bathroom great. Wi-Fi takes great and is fast. Good breakfast.

Popped in for lunch when passing and had soup and Sandwich which was excellent and I would recommend a visit.

Walked in here randomly and was pleasantly surprised. Clean rooms, friendly staff and a beautiful breakfast view. I also had a slow grilled beef for dinner that was delicious.

Enjoyed our overnight stay prior to catching the Ferry to Orkney. Clean and functional chalet. Excellent shower, water hot. Staff friendly and helpful. Loved the porridge not often you get good porridge in a bed and breakfast scrummy and enjoyed my cooked breakfast as well.

We had a lodge overnight. Warm peaceful and perfect for our needs. Food is great and a good menu.

Booked it last minute en route, for £35 Inc breakfast for a twin room too, surprised me that, expected to pay a lot more, lodge had recently been refurbished to a high standard was clean and comfortable shower room was OK, bed was comfortable, very handy for tourist routes etc evening meal was cooked to order and bar prices weren't excessive like other hotels that rip u off.

Just stopped in for bar lunch. Service excellent and quality of food was superb. Will be visiting again soon.

Food is quite good. Good place to go for family meals etc.

Disappointing lunch today. Very long wait then another 10 minute wait after asking how long food would be. My partners panini that was ordered turned up as a baguette as they don't do paninis although that wasn't said when ordered. His had to be boxed as he had 5 mins left to get back to work. Girls didn't eat their lunch either (not surprised on looking and tasting). When I mentioned when paying I was told they are training a new chef. My reply was not handy when you're paying over £30 of a lunch people can't eat. Such a shame usually excellent customer service and food.

Bar staff and waiting staff are pleasant and helpful. Food is mediocre. I've never stayed over but been in quite a few times with friends or family so can't score on the room service to be fair.

Excellent budget hotel in a good location for North Coast 500 and Scrabster ferry. Pet friendly rooms in the motel accommodation.

Didn't arrive in time to get evening meal but accommodation and breakfast were very good. Bar had Caledonia Best. After eleven hours on a motorbike, what more could you ask for…?

The receptionists were so welcoming (when we arrived in the evening) and so friendly (when we left the next morning). They are in the right job… and the breakfast young man was another pleasure to meet… the owners should be very proud of their staff. The room was perfect. And the bed so comfy… we were unexpected guests after a long stressfull journey. We would recommend this place to anybody.

6 of us for an early Xmas dinner. The conservatory where we were seated was freezing. No waitress service to take the order. I had to order at the bar. Couldn't fault the food but for what we paid I would have expected a better service.

Stayed for two nights mid October, during a mini tour of North and Eastern Scotland for my husband birthday. The hotel is in a great location, ideal for touring the north coast, only 15 minutes or so to Dunnet Head, most northerly point and 5 minutes to Scrabster where you can get the ferry to the Orkneys.
Our room was sizeable, very clean and equipped with everything we needed. The staff were really friendly, welcoming and attentive. Breakfast was excellent, with a choice of full Scottish cooked breakfast or a range of cereals, yoghurts etc plus toast and jams. There's a good selection of tasty reasonably priced bar meals, which are generous portions. There are pool tables and a dart board too for those who fancy a game. We found the locals were very friendly too and played darts a while with a couple of young local lads.
Overall we had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay, we would certainly stay again. So if you are planning a trip to Thurso or the surrounding area and are looking to stay over or just want a meal and a drink, then give the Weigh Inn a go.

A good hotel with choice of chalet rooms or more expensive rooms in the hotel. Nice bar meals served in the evenings.

Lovely room in main building. Comfy bed. Complimentary fruit and biscuits. Good breakfast. Good b and b for work.

Had a lovely meal we all enjoyed what we had and the desert was scrumptious…

Good place to stay if catching ferry to Orkney. Early breakfast. Good food. Just one critiszum the room was not very warm heating not too good.

Nice place to stay but what let it down for me was my meal on the frist night was not up to much then to top it of in the morning whent for breakfast sat there for 20 minutes watch ever one that that came in after me get served and get there breakfast. Dont get worng place was clean and tidy staff on reception very helpful dame with the bar staff as for the waiting staff could to better with a smile on there face and not mopping around.

I loved the food and how kind the staff are but I wish the Wi-Fi would reach the room I was at because I had to go back to the main building whenever I needed to use internet. Apart from that I enjoyed my visit and I hope to come back in the near future. I also love the name of this inn.

Useful stop off en route to or from Stromness ferry. Large bar area with good value food.

One star for the reasonable breakfast. The evening before was very poor. Only one girl tending the bar and she was overwhelmed and couldn't cope. It took 15 — 20 mins to get a drink. Getting a meal was even worse! We tried for 45 mins to place an order, were told it would be a long wait when we asked and were told there was a restaurant 5 mins down the road which turned out to be a half hour walk! We just made it time to be served. At £85 for 2, b&b, in a twin room was expensive. £60 would have been enough.

Usual pub grub but very well done. Four stars only as we waited nearly an hour from being seated to eating our meal… there was a sizeable group of us though so maybe that was a problem for them… think it was 16 with everyone. The service apart from the time-wait was excellent though… waitress came to the table to take our order rather than us going en masse to the bar… anything we asked for… condiments etc were brought quickly… would definitely go back but maybe in a smaller group x.

Stayed in standard lodge accommodation and it was acceptable for the price. Thought the food in the bar was a little over priced.

Dropped in at the inn in Thruso. Nice and coY place. Awesome food. The place was abuzz and the staff courteous. Would definately try the place again!

We were pleasantly surprised. Rooms were Clean, comfortable and spacious. The " Pub Food" was excellent and reasonably priced. The staff friendly and efficient. Wonderful ocean view. A great place for a Northern Holiday!

Easy to park a car in front of the lodge. Clean rooms and bathroom. Enjoyed hotel staff's courtesy. Thanks for the breakfast as a bonus! Will consider the Weigh Inn on our future North of Scotland trips.

This hotel also has what are loosely termed lodges around the back. All the lodges are smoking rooms and hence all smell like ashtrays and have yellow walls. These are the type of rooms that are normally rented by the hour! Avoid at all costs.

Perfect for me. The staff were very friendly. Not many places we can take dogs or have a smoke. Dont change. It is ideal. Breakfast was lovely. Wouldnt stay anywhere else while in Thurso.

What a dump, staff rude and unhelpful, don't pay by card.

We had reserved a room at the hotel by phone. When we got there in the evening, the lady at the reception gave us the room key & the "directions" to our room. We had a "room" outside the actual hotel. This was in a kind of residential container. The facility was old, dirty, broken. We complained about it at the reception & got a bigger room offered — also outside. New room — same bad luck! We complained again. The lady at the reception showed understanding and said she knew the rooms were not beautiful.
We then looked for a B&B in Thurso as we were not ready for an overnight stay in this hotel. The operator of the B&B told us that she had already had several guests, who had fared the same way as we & that the Weigh Inn in Thurso was known for …
